Hey James, how you doing kiddo? Doing all right what you doing today? I just came here to record podcast you want a balloon? Welcome back everyone to armchair reviews episode 13 spooky spookies breakfast episode 13 My name is Pennywise the clown just kidding.

It's Chris so funny and you are Georgie No, it's James here back again back yet again folks. We got a good one our hands this week and super good one This before again to this I'm gonna tell you a quick anecdote of when I watched the original it the 1990s the very first And the very first time I think it was like the second or something like that It was a bit of a hit and growing up I saw it right around when the kids in the movie were the same age as me so like grade eight I think and we had we had seen it, you know, Tim Curry being seen it seen it. Yes, I saw it We're gonna say it jokes all the time. Yeah, so we hung out with that groove of us and the two or three girls that we were hanging out with They hated the voice and they hated the clown that freaked them out the most and we had just fuck with them We had just dropped her voice as much as our 13 year old pre-pubescent little acne covered faces Could do and just freak the fuck out of them, you know look stare down, you know Have the what Bill Scarsgard does in this one quite well and same with Tim Curry and just freak the fuck out of them Just use the voices and turn the lights off and kind of just just hide behind the couch And so when they came back after like a break-and-run away one of us would miss him I'm like what the fuck is Chris behind behind the couch is Hey guys one of the loom Every time it was a good time.

It's a good time. Yeah, so you sound like a real winner Oh, I could say I was part of loses club. Oh nice. This one's a good job today.

Yeah reference movie reference guys Now James have you seen the original yet? I have yeah, yep. How long ago? I've seen it twice the first time I was young.

I was like 10 11 I'm for sure yeah, but I think like my sister was watching it with a couple friends, you know What's going on here? More recently when I was like my first year University just how we always watch this game movies now when you watch it then how Much more shit was it compared to the first time you saw it? Obviously a lot more shit, but yeah, like you know I always took into account like oh, it's from 1990. Yeah, yeah Have to take that account before you get into the movie or else you just have a bad time.

I agree And also now because technology is so different that movies are just so different like it's 27 years so different and considering it was a TV Mini TV series. It wasn't like a fucking really huge Hollywood production. They had some big names though I have a new tool or is that the name something I know to I think and John Ritter was in it I mean obviously Tim Curry those are some big names it it's a iconic Or it definitely film or series if you want to call it that right and more so now But I think if like kids these days they look back on it. They're gonna watch this before they see their vision Their remake They're gonna be like what the fuck is it?

Similar to what like what the extra system is what it was then compared to what is now If there's a like desensitization that's occurred like rapidly over the past like 20 years I'd say just because of how much more extreme things are getting in the cinema so different Yeah, and this one it differentiates itself right off the bat from from the remake it Just fucking dives right in there. Oh, yeah, it's that fucking Georgie scene We we got kind of hoodwinked a little bit because okay We got the opening scene You know Georgie's going in and he's gonna he's gonna chase after his little boat and obviously goes down the sewer and if he meets Pennywise the clown and you know Bill Scarsgard who plays Pennywise this time around he Swedish actor actor so he's he said in interviews that he went one of the completely different direction from what Tim Curry had Had done so his mannerisms and his voice a little things like that even his eyes are they're all they're all different Which is good. They actually fun fact and they're gonna do it in post-production where they're gonna make the eyes like I know you're watching the movie see his eyes kind of drift apart. Yeah, that's not CGI That's fucking Bill Scars guard because I was apart like a fucking weirdo.

Yeah, he's crazy and he's he's good. He's awesome Awesome Just but everything's going smooth in that first scene like as stuck to the script of the original and all of a sudden boom I'm just a bit clean off. Yeah, just get some fucking chomped like you see a little straddles away. Yeah There's this fucking not eight-year-old probably kid who's just even really out in the street in the rain He's crying.

No one knows what's going on like in the original. You know, it's just the way you see the close-up He reaches in George. He reaches in. Yeah, Pennywise reaches up Yeah, but you see like that Pennywise is like teeth go up and then it cuts.

Yeah, but this one full-arm chomp is like oh Oh fuck, okay, that's how this movie started. Yeah, and you know you like I live in for some shit And we were a little bit yeah, there's not many if any dull scenes like you're almost always on your toes Yeah, I would say so I will say oh yeah, I was always expecting something happen Like even when there's a little bit of dialogue. It's all relevant dialogue for the most part. Yeah, and I'll then reach you just being Well, well, that was weird thing.

He's just calm like he's conically right but all the conversations that they're having are relevant like yeah He tosses in your mom Joker with penis Joker whatever right then he's hilarious, but it's still relevant to Well, just talk about we talk about this after we left the theater What we liked about this horror movie is that we actually gave a fuck about these kids for the most part Character development is really strong. It is pretty I mean it does focus on some some of the group because there's seven kids Right well essentially you have Pennywise and you have Bill who are the main characters Yeah, and then everyone else is kind of like a supporting character however They do their best to group as a whole is the main yeah, right and yeah That's what maybe give shit about these characters usually in horror movies and all you just have these you don't care You don't care to their fodder for the villain you want you go in and cheer for the villains you don't care Yeah, and This time you're like oh fuck I don't want no come on bill overcome your stutter and leave the group or partially I think because of kids But partially also because of the really good character development well that and they're just their interactions They feel authentic Yeah, they're actually seem like a group of friends and that goes a long way and with these characters after we go over the pot Lot reminding us have kind of like a fun fact about how they film the movie and why they seem so close okay sure Anyways, let's get into the plot. Okay, so you mentioned earlier here. I'll get right into this here The original it was was a 27 years ago in 1990 came out this movie.

It's not an accident that they released a 27 It's perfect. It's perfect like that and this was kind of stuck in development hell for a while I was in development for like seven years something but came out perfectly times for why it took so long why the original directors Were buddy heads with Whoever was producing the movie. Okay, I was like Carrie She still ended up being like ring screenplay Director there's two directors. There's a team of directors.

I believe they were there's two dudes No, so they're the ones you finish it off. Okay, so there's two guys who were directing it together And I guess like they were they had creative differences is why they've backed out of it halfway through and then Andy machete and his sister took over together and Finish it off now They stayed with the same story or like the same like screenwriting and what not but there's like a couple scenes that were super Offside and stuff that the original directors wanted to do that You know the people producing the movie didn't want in the movie and they're trying to find that even ground of it being You know boring. Yeah, and being too much. Yeah, and I guess the original directors wanted to be too much and The source material is fucking batshit insane to begin with oh, yeah There's like extra dimensional mutant shape shifting beeman.

Yeah, and his arch enemy of the giant vomit University turtle turtle yeah, and then and then you know there's there's group or de sex in there of pre-teens. That's fun Yeah, that's a lot of bullying lots of domestic views There's some interviews receiving game was like really he's like when I was writing that part of the book I didn't like it wasn't supposed to be about like the sex or whatever But now like you know sex is such a prominent thing and like everyday life and whatever that it's like really not okay No, I mean also he was especially that it's like oh you get six dudes take a turn this one check back to back to back to back That's not it. Well, yeah, but what does matter what age or that's not like okay? I'm gonna take two allegedly king while he was writing these novels in the 80s and stuff like that He was fucking lit hammered all the time writer isn't lit He actually like he had a cans of beer all around that's the only way you could write well Yeah, I mean we wrote all his best shit Not a writer but fucking John Jones dick those cocaine doesn't matter Okay, so it took a long time there is because the director changed They were hung out for quite a while and Pennywise the guy that they initially cast will paulter who you may know from we're the millers The ginger kid yes, he was actually cast as Pennywise.

No, we're great. Not him. Yeah, the the nerd kid the short-haired buzz cut I think the actual part of the family and then he was also the dickhead in the mace runner Oh, yeah, yeah, so he was cast as as Pennywise first, but he dropped out before good Yeah, because for real it's just a good kill the nail did such a good job. He'll be back baby.

He will be back He's well, okay. Yeah, so let's so yeah, so it starts off. Yeah, I'm obviously gonna introduce your characters Last day of school for summer and you get introduced I'll just get the tour de-park we already talked about that shit and you eventually get to know these group of kids You have bill. He's pretty much their leader.

You have Richie the glasses wearing wise cracking shit head He's so funny. He's good. There's was a David. No No, Eddie sorry Eddie.

He's the the I've caught your act. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, as everything cuz mom's mom's a Yeah, they're Stanley. He's the curly headed Jewish boy You can't say Jew you can't it's politically correct, but it's okay the Jewish boy young lad Beverly and Ben you have Mike you got everybody and That's it.

That's it. Okay. Okay. Yeah, okay, Bill Beverly Stan Eddie Mike Richie Ben nailed it.

Oh cool That's the loser club that's what they dubbed themselves as it loses club loses club. Yeah, so they're obviously a bunch of kind of Outcasts outsiders from the from the group, but watching it. I don't really see why they be okay They seem like really normal kids, but they're picked on by a bunch of fucking 15 year old 16 year old ass You should make our psychopaths Like literally two are like confirmed psychopaths like they're supposed to be yeah Then you get the one bigger chubby one who's kind of like the one that's like this is an alright Is this a cool guys carving your name into the pack in the stomach. Yeah, not okay.

The fourth guy There's really no development even in the books or the One that's the other psycho guys, but there's there's one of the bullies in the book that he's actually has like a gay Okay, that's okay Because in the first scene in the school when the kids went just with the four kids when they walk by and he looks at is it Richie that he kind of have to exchange with oh, yeah Yeah, and if you notice he's in the background and he's got like a creepy petal smile and he like licks his lips out Okay, I didn't know so yeah, I picked that up. Okay, let's pick that up put that down Yeah, they're looking into it and they're like yeah, he's gay. Yeah. Yeah, he's like a gay.

No, he's not he's not born Yeah, he gets married. So I'm Let's see here. Okay, so eventually you end up seeing some creepy shit happening to each everyone the kids are going missing in this town of Dairy Main and Ben who's who frequents the library quite a bit. He's starting to piece together this he's the new kid in town Yeah, and he's noticing the library.

Yeah, the library quite a bit each one of the kids start to come together around this mystery of these many missing kids of Betty Ripson's of the world and Georgie and all that good stuff and they come together tries all this mystery of what's going on here And they know it's the pattern by every 27 years and they each have their own spook scene Which you know you have Stan who has the the picture of the wind playing the flute bill See still sees Georgie Mike sees his parents trapped in the fire Eddie he sees the leper cut like the disease written Bev she sees the blood and hair and coming out of sync and I think who else is there? Ben sees the headless boy like a blown up in the explosion in like 1908 or something. Yeah, and I think that's and Richie scares clowns rich is here in the novel He's care werewolves But they don't do anything with that they get rid of all these other stuff and that stuff But there is a little cameo of the werewolf when yes, you know he has the hand coming out of the glove Yeah, that's your little homage to that but slowly and surely there them they find out this pattern They all kind of realize that they've all seen something weird and also think they're scared. Yeah, they realize it's feeding off their feet That's what it feeds off.

Yes. Yeah feeds off their fear So like a lot of people that don't know too much about like the storyline or like the lore of the book and the movies They're just like Pennywise is the Yeah, but it's not so it's it's it which actual like paranormal dimensional powers is called dead light the dead lights Yeah, so we'll get to that later But just it essentially takes the form of what your biggest fear is yeah, and its default form is just the clown Yeah, and you learn as you go through the movie is that it has other powers Well, it could influence other people's actions Henry being the main one yeah adults there They just cut off the brain wash essentially the entire time brainwash the only thing that the parents really do to keep their children safe Is they put in a perfume yeah, and that's it and then it's they still still let their kids just like Oh, fuck around in the series 80s, bro. Yeah, you know you know you go play outside you fucking geese go library And there's there's lots of like fan theories as to why it defaults to Pennywise I Yeah touch on that in the fun facts at end. Okay.

I mean the plot is is basically not you're trying to overcome basic every every fear of these characters Though I feel like this movie is jam-packed with metaphors. Oh, yeah, it is metaphor of the ass I'm for city Like for example, you know you see Blood you know she's 12 13 year old girl buys co-tax or ever at the beginning in the 10 backs as a 10x Yeah, but her period is starting it's important and she cuts her hair because it's a sign of femininity well You know Dad Yeah, but it's important it makes it look more of a tomboy he can says that to her So she's trying to avoid that but then the fear comes up in the shape of all this blood erupting blood and the hair area That's because that's what she comes home with the Tampa. Yeah, you still my little girl right? And she's like It's needed though and then you have a Yeah, you have Eddie who has the hype-conry mother like the sheltering mother is where he has good good moments of this trying like oh my god You know these exchanges with Richie are like There is yeah, there's so much tension and they'll just cut it they'll either cut it with the jumps it jumps in or they'll cut it with them Like a wise cracks, you know, I mean and it's so good like it's in for the time as well like this is My dick like this is a dick measure you tell it like 13 year old yeah, but it's hilarious everyone in the theater laughed every time We're immature as fuck, but I loved it.

Yeah, it was good Yeah, and speaking of the time period to like they had they did a lot of work to get the time of the setting right because it was 1989 I believe it was said it was starting 88 or 87 88 and then one year Fall 88 it was September October. That's when Georgie died. Yeah, and then springtime 89. Yeah in the summer So it's already not yeah, yeah, so it's just before 90 so Because part two is supposed to take place in 2016 yeah, that makes sense and we'll get into some fan casting for the older Older people later on there's already been a bunch of murmurs about that, but yeah, so everything is pretty much, you know I'm gonna go with that like we were talking about metaphors about all the things happening like and Mike too like that's the underlying like huge part of the racism of the time as well They kind of get rid of a lot of the racism in this movie compared to others you have like compared to the book to yeah Because there is like a whole There's a whole scene that they filmed that they cut out that had to do with the black squat burning down because His parents hung out there survived it and then they ended up dying in their own house fire right?

But Henry he his dad hated Mike's parents because they're black see there's a lot of things to do with racism And that's why he had Henry has it over him. Okay, Mike doesn't live in the town Whenever he comes in grab a grab a yeah, so that's why they're always he's always like chasing after right? Okay, yeah, there's lots of like I feel like Today well the book is fucking like it's like a hundred pages. It's over a thousand pages.

I was looking at it Well, aren't you like a wrong kind is a goddamn is a big book. Okay, I'll agree the Wikipedia synopsis I maybe maybe scratch the surface of that But I feel like if you if you had read the book and you were a fan of this other work before and you did your research like James You're not like me you'd appreciate the movie a lot more to slow day work But that being said we still have they did it well for two hours 15 minutes for this movie here They did what I think they could to make this story as engaging as possible without getting sidetracked Yeah, absolutely and they have a lot more to work with with now the adult chapter 2 coming up. Yeah, I think I'll be in More time way better than part two It was mixing back and forth timelines right everybody hates Like movie creates like shit on part two He blaits like I don't like this Yeah, essentially poor guys like rip career But So yeah, they got they're gonna do right. I think the same directors like it's gonna be the same people doing it from what I know They'll do it right and also from what I know they've been talking about like tying it in a lot better yeah between part one part two and Using using some of the scenes they cut out.

Okay, so I might still have some flashbacks. Yeah, yeah There's definitely there's definitely gonna be lots of flashbacks because from what I know all the kids are involved in the second kids kids They're they're fucking awesome. They're so good in this movie for like literally they were like 10 to 13 when they were filming all the kids Yeah, yeah, that's hard. They were good and they were good and like I thought those 10 to 13 Oh fuck no, I'm not that talented.

God damn and they keep their composure and Especially being around like crazy shit all day. Yeah, they did such an awesome job And all these kids are gonna have a fucking bright future some more so there's but they were really good as a group That the little fact is actually a wicked actor like Yeah, even so good in the movie and even like some of the interviews I was watching today Like he's really well spoken. Oh, yeah, you can tell in the in the movie. Yeah, the guy the kid who played bill was good He's good toss and fake stutter toss face to fake stutter.

Yeah, real good bad. The action said like that. She is crazy She's gonna have a huge future. She played she was really well.

She's actually a really strong character in this Oh, yeah, I have a beef with what they did with her later on but and also Richie he was a stranger time He's a stranger things. And it's this I feel like it takes a lot out of that influence of stranger things Or stranger things takes a lot of influence out of this because they're very similar So you know the 80s they have the 80s nostalgia the t-shirts that you see in the movie theaters coming out You know Batman of 1989 see lethal up in to nightmare Elm Street They're actually gonna have some of these 80s iconic characters have being it transformed into it into like Freddy or something They said no fuck that can't be too meta Speaking of nightmare Elm Street because it was on the theater now playing when they're there. Yeah, but like we already said 1988 89 was when this was happening that movie came out like 84. Oh, okay, so it's just like a weird Easter egg Okay, so I will try to see if it was like re-released like across the state But I couldn't find anything about it.

So it's kind of like weird with that in Billy's room at the start of movie He's got a grandma's and a beetle juice closer. Yeah, so the grandma's one. Yeah, they're like the grandma's they transform. Yeah, and Beetlejuice There's like another well, he's weird way that it relates to it Well, he's a fucking he's it he transforms into weird crazy shit, too Yeah, so and they're like both right in the perfect time like early 80s, right?

Right made 80s, right? So yeah, they have the right influence. They're not like over the top scary movies Yeah, they're like the other fire exactly they're like the other stuff fucked up scenes crown. Let's have some fucked up scenes Yeah, but overall they're like movies that are below 13 and yeah, and like 13 year old kids can enjoy yeah, you know Without getting what's up.

Yeah without being super frightened, but enjoy. Yeah, and then this one That's that's where I have not a beef with it because I did enjoy this movie as a whole I just thought to be honest. I thought it was gonna be scarier like the jump scares were good sure I feel like we've seen a lot of what they've doing I think the audience is accustomed to kind of how the scares are gonna happen So considering from when the first one came out to this I still think the first one will have a little bit more of a cultural impact I think people will enjoy this one more but it's apples and oranges at this point. Yeah, also on that like it's hard because We watch scary movies we like scary movies.

We lost them a lot Yeah, and so when we go there I only got like jump scared once oh, yeah Okay, so that after Jesus James and But besides that like the rest of it like you know, it's gonna happen right But for people who aren't huge like horror movie fans or like don't watch them at all But doing this is iconic movie got to watch it or they get dragged there with boyfriend girlfriend and friends or whatever the case is They're gonna be jumping a lot. Yes. Like I think the jump scares are really good I just think we're a little bit desensitized because of the amount for sure of movies that we watch They were they're placed in the right spot They were done very well the one that like really got me was after the first time they go to the house They have a little battle or whatever and it retreats into the well into the well And then they instantly go to one of the other kids first But then they go to bev yeah, and she's trying to like leave the house to go We hang out with other guys has exchanged with her dad. She's gonna fight she hides in the bathroom I'm just gonna fight.

He tries to rape her, but she hides in the bathroom He come take some the dick breaks in she takes the the Lidic the porcelain The shitter and just smashes him in the dome and so he's dead. Yeah, he's on the ground He's KO for sure like and She goes to leave the room she goes to leave the room so she like her body transitions slowly But then the camera like super quick super jarring music loud like shrieking out of nowhere, and then it's like comes up from up high Too like he's not you know he's just standing and posing over Yeah, he's just like yeah Yeah, and it's just split second super quick cut out of there and after she hit him in the head I was kind of like going around my popcorn so I was half so it got me really good Like it was a good jump, but it got me twice as good. That's a good motherfucker I was like god damn So that impressed me because the movie was just like slowing down like you know I mean like it started to slow down like you could kind of feel like if you hadn't seen the other one or read the book You kind of feel like oh, maybe this is you know It's part like a story part two they're seguing to the end of the movie because you know they just happened ahead Yeah, it was down the well, so you like maybe whatever first boss battle there's a second But yeah, so I was like fuck it got me good sure and then I seen just before that was when they're in the fun I was pretty much and you know Richie has the clown room which is good and then You know as the the wolf hand come out and then he comes out of the fridge because else he's stuffing the fridge a body Or and that's like Limb by limb out of the and then twist and then twist all the way around like that body What was it like that? I wish they had some more snapping and crunch yeah That would mean a little extra grotesque so fun fact about that scene and what I wanted to touch on earlier How you said the kids were friends like really good friends?

Yeah, so they filmed for about a month and a half to two months Just the kids right this is the six seven kids doing all the cool fun kids shit We like jumped off the cliff there swimming in the pool there doing the shit at school biking around I think they even did like a couple scenes with like Henry But like none zero with any wise with bill or with a not bill With bill zero scenes the very first time they saw bill was when he came out of the fucking fridge He was already in there when Eddie did his fall through the roof part and break break his arm Yeah, so it was only Eddie and Bill scene but but three of the other kids were there like on set obviously right because they were involved in The other scenes the very first time they saw him ever not even out of costume They didn't want the kids to meet him at all. Yeah, so that was there like Eddie's honest to God first impression And that's what they wanted to be they wanted like a natural reaction reaction So obviously the 13 and it's scary as fuck even though he knows just a dude in the costume. Yeah, it's fucking scary I think I read that scars guard. He practiced some contortionism was a lot of the dude in real life Do you like so he's like not only is he big to us but to fucking 13 year old kid?

Yeah, he's very important because the whole time I was watching as I got damn He's a fucking giant yeah, and I thought you know They maybe just like shot it that way to make it look that way, but he's 6 fucking 5 so was some of that contortionist stuff coming on the fridge Him then probably to some extent some extent. Yeah, that'd be a mega cooler with you You can tell which part of CGI and stuff like that. There's some cartoonish Yeah, that's that's one of the like probably the only nitpicky thing that I have about it was maybe there was no Like the CJ was good. Yeah, but maybe there might have been a little bit too much when it came to Pennywise some Yeah, for sure some points.

I think that's the only thing that I'd like I'm really like yeah, but it's not bad. It's just I would have rather seen a little bit more of a natural practical approach to I like some of the makeup that they had for some of the other like coaches like they had the like the leper that Eddie's So that was pretty cool. That was at least fucking oozing out his face and like you're like what the fuck am I'm looking at first God damn it. That was great But that was cool It was just gross and he's getting chasing the tension is cool And you see him like that in the pictures with the projection screen now that seems really cool There are a lot of good scenes So like can't think of a scene really that pissed me off throughout this movie Yeah, cuz it I had so much fun in between the tension building scenes and the tension snapping scenes Agree, so yeah, I just kept going even those two hours 15 minutes it flowed nicely One funny funny funny thing about that Eddie scene we as his broken arm So he's got his fake broken arm, you know, he always had that calculated watch and we had to take his med So it was actually like a real time or like it was not just time they set in So it would just go off randomly and so they would try to mix that in like a go off He would just fumble around with his meds like that was just part of their feeling process and all like it's exactly gonna go off at this time I'm running and I guess after the very first Outtake of like them filming him coming out of the fridge bill was like just getting back into the fridge and his watch started going off again Right and so we had his fake broken arm so he couldn't get it with his other arm And then the people there were like the people on the camera crew or whatever So like bill came out of the fridge again to like reset the time They come back in so he went from like there.

It's just like the kids were saying he went from being like full pennywise to Like oh, I'll get it all get it from the fridge I'll get it To the comes over and reset it to work to work it'd be funny. Yeah, because you're like one second ago It was the first time you saw this dude. Yeah, probably scared the flack out He's a little pieder a little yes for sure Probably a little pied pocket up the bottle so we pretty much covered all the plots So if you know there's gonna be a second one the guys they gang beat the shit out of Pennywise at the end I thought they could have done something a little bit differently rather than just beating it with lead pipes Yeah, yeah And also this is the one thing that I have a critique of and maybe it's part of the book I don't know but I had mentioned early the bev really strong character really sure you're here Yeah, let alone you know strong female character But when she gets kidnapped and the guys are gonna have to rescue her I was like well, you're kind of going back on her being strong fucking tough badass and like she has all this shit She has all these defenses up and you know, she's a strong Character and then you just take her out. Yeah, but maybe if they kidnap like the fact that they don't go back Yeah, I guess you know, I know, I know I think the reason why and I'm also pretty sure it's part of the book But I think the reason why they like bad is the one chosen because you care more I guess right it's probably written that way Exactly, that's that's really what makes sense to me like I agree with everything you're saying But I think you just care more because hey, she's only girl in the group and B.

She's dead far worse shit happen to her than anyone else Yes, that's why I think she should have been able to overcome that because she's overcome so many other obstacles in her life yeah, and it's just You remind me of like fucking chamber secrets like this girl in a dingy dungeon You know, like they take out like the Hermione of the group and the fucking knucklehead boys are gonna have to come in and save the day Figure it out and the awkward like oh you're talking to kids your comatose. I'm gonna I'm gonna sleep in beauty you and you're gonna come back Alight. Yeah When I was doing my research day was only really briefly touched on one so they were just like oh true love I mean, it is what it is like I'll give it a pass cuz like we also said last night we were leaving the theater We were like we did really care about these kids, but we're like kill one of them. Yes And we wanted it to be fucking stand but he's gonna have his face much Getting fucking wrecked by it in the form of his like painting fear or whatever that he has.

Yeah He's literally getting face fucked like yeah, because he wanders away from the group Part of our fun facts feature is I guess in the second part throughout the 27 years He's been sour about it the whole time and he still holds it against the guy's butter and Because he thinks that they abandoned him, but they were still right the fuck where they came down He walked away. He walked away. He's an idiot. Yeah, so but apparently he he's gonna hold that against him this whole time It's gonna come into play in the second one well Yeah, he's he's actually one of the first ones about the dust Yeah, so I haven't actually seen like the part two of the original one, but he actually a spoiler alert Yeah, he hears that it's come back Yeah And all the losers clover gang together again, and he's so terrified that he actually slips his own wrists and kills himself Cuz he doesn't want to deal with that shit.

I can stand he writes it in blood in like the bathroom I does it Lucy I don't know But maybe because they do differentiate from the book maybe they'll do a wild card Maybe they'll throw it up a little bit and make up the character's deaths perhaps I don't think so they don't differentiate that much They'll omit certain things rather than include yeah Okay, let's go kill the stand fuck the stand well, maybe they'll Well, it all depends on the adult actors really because we have if we have differing We like to how Richie was portrayed in this movie Yeah, so what if they cast a total fucking idiot as a adult version of Richie and we lose all that admiration for him and Like fuck rich you kill him. Yeah, so it really doesn't matter who they cast because then what if they cast a stud as Stan? I just can't see him. I can't see him fucking this up.

You know like yeah They found like ten year old kids that killed this shit. Yeah, they'll find something also kill it. Oh for sure Yeah, and they obviously made money off it. We'll get back to that So I'm just a couple of pennies by the way, they were penny wise about this But like no the kids these kids set the stage for the actors that I've played the big kids Like they fucking set the stage people that have been professional actors for probably 20 plus years.

Yeah have like a lot to They're cut out for them. Yeah, they've got a lot to fucking pull up as that for some more so than others They you know like the the stands of the group the the mics of the group those ones are kind of outliers The other four apparently Mike's was played big role in part two. Yes So he's the one that maybe that discovers it being back and he's fucking tweets everyone It's back. It's back.

It's back. It's back. It's back. It's back dude was mindset.

Dude was mindset sweet Should we get into some fun facts or no? Yeah, so a couple more fun facts. We're pretty much done this summer We don't need to get into any more that yeah, we got to just we could start off with something a little boring the budget They were on a strict budget of 35 million dollars strict. Yeah, yeah strict I don't really know how they have a strict budget for this movie.

Oh, they know it's gonna kill it Well, they know that they'll do good enough to make no, yeah, I'm 35 million how much do they do we checked this morning? Yeah, and I think the numbers we saw were as of Tuesday Wednesday worldwide after like four Five days it is Wednesday was after Monday. Yeah, so it's after the weekend after the weekend is like a hundred and eighty nine million Yeah, so they killed it in four days. Oh, these guys are gonna make probably another I think I had the best September release of all time Yeah, and the biggest highest grossing horror movie of all time an opening weekend and In the States it was rated R and it was the second highest debut of an R rated movie behind Deadpool boom So what does that tell you that's fucking insane?

They deserve it. Yeah, it was good. Those kids fucking Yeah, they're good to go for the rest of it and because that's what this movie they're all gonna get rolls Oh, like everywhere. Yeah, and buddy on Stranger Things still has a lot of work to do more seasons coming out here Yeah, I haven't started watching it yet, but what do good things good?

I'm on the riders back. Maybe another fun fact. Yeah, we kind of asked you about it in the movie We're like is there remain a real place? Yes turns out.

It's not a real place However, where it is on the map is actually a town called Etna main Etna Etna mean and apparently it's like Small little town So it's like, you know obviously me dairy dairy is based off of it. I've seen Kings from me. I think so. Yeah In the book yes, but that when Mike pushes Henry down the well.

Yes, he survives. He survives in the book You don't see it in this movie though. No, maybe you may say We don't know if he's a son allegedly died he H shit But so he survives and then he gets blamed for all the murders all of the murders that it Committed committed this time around. I don't know they never really clarified when I was doing my research if like, you know He's sent a Joe anything he's got blamed for all the murders And then he's apparently supposed to play a big part in the part to yeah, so question though That was just a week.

We didn't die which is too bad. Yeah, well, maybe another secondary antagonist I guess but question finally you know you see like the tag like you can float to wherever the fuck and you're just led to assuming you know Like drowning kids in sewer water, but then you see like all the kids floating literally floating in the air floating Yeah, what happens to them when they kill the girl? No, no, I know but like they just drop the ground. Yeah, yeah, they start falling.

Yeah, then they're like who claims collect that Well, it's like a five-oaty. Are you but really do they maybe? I don't think they just like do they see do they tell us in the movie But I know ville sees Georgie's jacket, but like does he end up seeing Georgie's rotting corpse drop down after your year? Probably The thing is like I don't really know if they're running even right because they're just like you don't get a good enough He's eating them.

Yeah, I mean So I'm asking about you so yeah, here's the thing and they don't really go into detail of it So we're just speculating. Yeah, we don't know. I was just like I was curious about that I'm seeing what your fun facts the other fun fact we already brushed up on is it resurfaces every 27 years original to now is 27 years We both thought that was very cool The thing about Stan being paranoid being a dick blaming other people that was a little fun fact The whole movie was actually filmed in Canada. It was filmed in Ontario a couple different spots like port hope Riverdale in Oshawa most most of it being Riverdale Did they use our she has an extra Bill Scaggs scarred scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar scar From Sweden he's actually from Stockholm Capital Sweden he what we reviewed a movie recently that he was in you know what movie was he was an atomic bomb atomic long I don't know where he was the fucking dude that oh the dude.

Yeah, that hooked them up when they're trying to escape I'm really trying to remember his character's name, but remember she's with Sure The dude that's like helping them escape the town when they have the guy who's remembering a list Okay, okay. Yes. Okay. Yes.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Yes. Yes. Yes. You don't I remember the eyes.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah and the tall He was like the hacker. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like you but yes.

Okay. Gotcha. Yeah, that's what I wanted to call him But I'm like it's not James one. There was a The cast of fun fact here the cast of the one of the original yeah The cast of the lu is club they all had who they want to play their adult parts So the guy that played Richie said he want Bill Hader For these like fan cat these are the actors fan casting of the characters.

Yeah, some of them will be outdated Just won't match up in age Let's see so bev she wants who I really want her Jessica Chastain to play the adult bev I have a bit of a crush on just a chance to him if it's who I think it is yeah She's been in everything like zero dark 30. Let's see. She's a cousin peak. She's been in Oh, yeah, what a fucking the Tom party one Oh, fuck it.

Well, this loss. She's in fucking out. Yeah, so she's stellar It's actually not only just her like lots of people are saying online that it's gonna be her I hope so but there's another red-headed chick that the director is just recently did a movie with okay Who's also like gonna fit that right age group to do and I think it was like a horror kind of scary flick So I think she might slot in because they've done work with her, but Jessica Chastain would be very well I think he did work with her on mama. I think that was the movie like he directed mama 2013 like the two orphan girls By their ghost yeah, can you be a I think that's her but like okay.

Let's go to Mike's character He wants a chat with both men who's black panther. It's play the adult Mike. That'd be good Yeah, Eddie. He said Jake Jillian.

Oh, which would be awesome. That would be pretty Let's see Stan. He said Joseph Gordon Levitt. I don't know if that would work to be honest with you.

They just look different Yeah, let's see It's really here the character Ben who you see that he's the back kid yes Chris Pratt Yes, that would be dope. I think we have a great. He's bringing that to that charm and bill wants Christian bill Yeah, I mean that's the one I'd Christian bill is a great actor Yeah, I don't know if it's a right genre. It's the right role for yeah That's the right role right genre.

Yeah, but those are those are pretty fun choices from like 10 to 13 year olds Yeah, those are some those most of those are good ones. Yeah, I agree with someone I'm just gonna check my fact check here. I think she was a mama. Yeah, so yeah, so she was directed just Chastain was directed by the same director.

Okay. Yeah, so it is the one that yeah, it's gonna be her. Yes, we're calling it out I certainly hope so she's awesome. It's a fantastic actress.

She's good. She's good. She's very easy on the eyes. Very easy on that Do we have anything else?

It's very easy So obviously we both like the movie. Yes, I definitely recommend it go see any theaters Definitely go see in theaters watch it once or twice if you like it buy it Yeah, it comes out don't fucking download it like a douche It's a good good movie to have like with your friends over and stuff. Yes absolutely You're always even if you've seen it more than once it's a type of movie that you'll still get jump scared on at least Once or twice in the movie. Oh, yeah, for sure.

So definitely definitely see it buy it when it comes out I'm saying if you don't like scary movies buckle up because you'll be jump scared a lot I I'll say it's probably a close to 7.5 to 8.10 as a whole we'll just like I'm gonna go like 8.5 plus it was good Yeah, I did enjoy it thing is like we've given shittier movies in the sevens So like this deserves like a middle of the back eight. No, if not a nine in the grand scheme of horror movies nine plus Yes, yes, yes, I'll give it a name then how many movies do you actually give a fuck about not a lot these days? That's for sure. Yeah, actually so actually this is my next point not involving it, but with next week's movie I've had a couple people actually reach out to me suggesting what we should check out if our theater permits it still this week Because this week will be a slower week.

I think with regards to theatrical releases Obviously later this month we have Kingsman 2 coming out as well as that Tom Cruise cartel movie Yeah, we definitely are excited for Kingsman For sure more Tom Cruise movie looks good. Oh, Tom Cruise is a it's Tom Cruise movie So very checked out one of his movies on this podcast before but the one in between that was said was suggested to me was to check out Wind River Wind River with Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olson aka Hawkeye and Scarlet Witch from the Avengers movies It looks like a pretty sweet thriller. I've heard nothing but good things about it and according to sim It is in our theater now. It is so it's only in its first week So we do like Jeremy Renner if you want to check that one We can do that one next week we could yeah if it's here So and that'll be our next week so this this episode here.

It's coming out Thursday So while you're listening to now go Thursday the next week We'll see it. We'll see Wind River and the following got that fault things come together It'll be Kingsman 2 so we have the rest of September mapped out pretty much yeah, so tune in guys Yeah, tell your friends tell your family and tell your husband tell your wife Hi kids, hi, Joep and make them listen to us and you can listen to us on soundcloud soundcloud.com Slash arm trick dash reviews and iTunes can find us in your podcast section search armchair reviews two words armchair reviews space reviews Don't spell it space though.
