#13 Undieting and Intutive Eating with Dr Jenn Salib Huber

from Take A Breath · host Polly Warren

As so many of us enter perimenopause, our body shape starts to change and rather than embrace these changes we often punish ourselves with restrictive diets and/or feelings of low self worth. In this week's episode I chat to registered Dietitian and Naturopathic Doctor Dr Jenn Salib Huber.  Jenn helps women find food freedom and escape the diet culture by teaching them how to eat in a way which is intuitive and enjoyable.  Jen herself began dieting at a young age and went on to become a “professional dieter”. She longed to see the “thin ideal” staring back at her in the mirror for most of her adult years. But despite doing all the “right” things - exercising, trying every new diet AND getting two degrees related to nutrition - her body fought back.Thankfully the seeds of “intuitive eating” were planted somewhere along the way and she began making small shifts in how she responded to her body’s needs. She no longer wanted to push her body to its limit, and instead she wanted to nurture it to its best. And now she helps others  do the same!In this conversation, Jenn and I discuss:Why our bodies change at perimenopauseWhat the diet cycle isWhy restricting food doesn’t work  What body neutrality is and how it can help us expand our sense of worthWhy the majority of diets fail in the long term and often result in more weight gainWhat intuitive eating isWhy labelling foods as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ is not the answerWhat to add into your diet to help control peri symptomsWhy weight loss goals should be set aside when setting health goalsYou can follow Jenn on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/menopause.nutritionist/or visit her website https://www.jennsalibhuber.ca/ or listen to her podcast The Midlife Feast https://www.jennsalibhuber.ca/podcastYou can find me on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/pollywarrencoaching/ or email me [email protected] or visit my website https://www.pollywarren.com/Download 15 Breaths to Calm Anxiety - a FREE 5 minute audio to calm you down in real time.Download The Breath Check-Up - your FREE guide to understanding how well you're breathing right now.Download my energising 5 Minute Morning Practice to get your day started in the best way possible. To find out more about my membership The Inner Space go to:  https://www.pollywarren.com/theinnerspaceEmail me at:  [email protected]://www.pollywarren.com/https://www.instagram.com/pollywarrencoaching/
