Al joined the sports department at WDAF-TV/FOX 4 in Kansas City in May 1985, and spent 33 years at the station. His broadcasting roots started in 1978, when he began working in production at KAMC-TV in Lubbock, Texas, where he eventually became sports director. He has also been weekend sports anchor and executive sports producer for KXAS-TV in Dallas, Texas and KVBC-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada.He retired from FOX 4 on December 18, 2018.Today he teaches in the journalism department at the University of Kansas, and he’s a mentor in the C-10 Mentoring & Leadership program.
