#130 Becky Lucas: Preparing my newborn for open heart surgery

Becky Lucas is one of Australia's favourite comedians. She knows how to disarm a crowd with her endearing humour and quick wit as she tries to express how she really feels about the state of the world.  In 2023 when Becky was pregnant, she went in for a routine scan and found out that her baby had a complex heart condition that would require open heart surgery. On top of the regular anxiety that follows the birth of a new baby, she was dealing with cardiologist appointments and constant fears about his health. Amongst the utter joy of getting to know her beautiful baby George, there were so many dark days where she didn’t feel like life could ever be good again. Since George underwent surgery, doctors have said his heart looks pristine and he's a happy and healthy, thriving baby. Becky will worry about him forever, as every parent does, but she's going to do her best to hold that anxiety in and let him live his life as a normal kid.
