131 - Cases of Conspiracy 12: D.B. Cooper

On November 24, 1971, on Thanksgiving Eve, a man buys a one-way ticket for Northwest Orient Airlines Flight 305, under the name 'Dan Cooper'. He boarded the flight and shortly after takeoff, he handed a note to a flight attendant, saying he had a bomb in his briefcase and demanded $200,000 and four parachutes. After landing in Seattle he instructed the flight crew to fly to Mexico City. 30 minutes after taking off, with the money in his possession, he parachuted off the plane into the night over southwestern Washington.  The mystery of D.B. Cooper: who he was, where did he go and what happened to the money, is undoubtedly one of the greatest conspiracy theories of the modern era. For decades, federal agents, private investigators, historians and conspiracy theories have tried to crack the code and solve the mystery. The unknown hijacker has become a piece of American folklore. To some a hero. To others a criminal.  On our 12th instalment of Cases of Conspiracy, THCC explore this great mystery.
