132: Chatting about the Power of Human Touch with Epiphany Jordan

from Chats from the Blog Cabin · host MELISSA VERA

Join me as I chat with Epiphany Jordan who is on a mission to re-design the human touch. For the past seven years, She has been practicing, researching, writing, and thinking about nurturing human touch, or platonic touch.  Last year she published “Somebody Hold Me: The Single Person’s Guide to Nurturing Human Touch” Grab here https://amzn.to/2Qujf8T { affiliate link} Our culture currently considers touch between adults as romantic or sexual, instead of part of health and wellness, and it’s a paradigm that isn’t working for many single AND partnered people. COVID-19 has illuminated how important touch is for health and happiness, and how its absence is affecting us. I’m interested in what touch will look like post-virus. Will we be too afraid to touch each other? Will we go back to taking it for granted? Will we come out of the experience unable to connect and relate to other humans? Or will we use the Great Pause to rethink who, when, and why we touch others? Will we recognize it as integral to our biology, and our experience of being human, and begin to use it as a tool for cooperation and connection?
