Stel: een mug vloog zo'n 65 mio jaar geleden gezellig rond op de aarde. Mensen waren er nog niet, dus ze voedde zich met dinosaurusbloed. Die mug belandt per ongeluk in boomhars, waardoor zij - én het dinosaurus-DNA - tot vandaag netjes bewaard is gebleven. Gevolg: wetenschappers slagen erin om dino's weer tot leven te wekken. Het klinkt als een goed filmscenario en dat is het ook. Maar zou het ook echt kunnen? Paleontoloog Koen Stein (VUB) vertelt hoe ver we al staan.
