If you want to go swim from our robot. You reckon? This thing's quite good in the test. I haven't played with the Unoisbonders yet, but...

It's not noise, but it's really good. Really? It's set. Good morning, good afternoon.

Good evening. You're listening to the old-time car, parked cars hosted by tonight by Peter Anderson. Welcome. Welcome.

We're doing a live drive. We've already started, if you can't, it's Hill. Yeah, we're in a sonic car. We're in a car that...

Oh, we're in a car that won't blink up. We can make some noise. A BMW? We're driving a BMW?

No, it hasn't worked in blink up. That hasn't worked in blink up. We went to the BMW. The spare parts catalog are looking for blink up floors.

Yeah. Try it again. Shut up. Please, you know what works.

Well, it's because I'm an Audi driver. Oh, that is. And I know what the indicator is. She said try it again.

So it flashes. So basically we're driving... Michael's day yesterday. Hang on, we're just finding...

This is said try it again as well last night. I'm going to... Bonus play. So basically we're driving a BMW I-X X-Drive 40.

I'm getting quite understanding of you again. Shut up! That's you. We're talking about you.

So basically... She's still... So basically... Our friends are BMW.

Gove is this beautiful... Yes. Gove is this beautiful... It's not coming in the third wheel.

It sounds like Ross is here. So basically... So we're driving an I-X, which is the SUV of EV of BMW. I've had a go at it for a couple hours and Khalil's literally driving it right now.

And there's a few features. We'll talk about some features before how it makes these impressions of how they can't go. So basically it's a fairly large car. This is like X5.

It's not as wide. It's not as big as an X5. It's bigger than X3. Yeah.

Somewhere in the middle. It's in the middle of an X3 and X5 in BMW SUV talk. It doesn't drive like an SUV. There's a lot of room in this car.

The rear seats are flat. So because the battery packs obviously on the platform underneath them in the front trunk area. The back seat is a flat floor and there's so much room. And you can even see the vents from underneath the front seats to cool your feet and the back seats.

It's got that... Which is the anything now that diamond pad and stitching. The seats are pretty funky. They're pretty comfortable.

They're quite impressed. It's not an inversion. Which is probably why. It's got BMWs take on a Mercedes dash.

It's got a must like the twin screens together. So it's not like your BMW cockpit where it's got the screen in the middle and the dash. So they've gone sort of rectangular but it's more like these curved screens. Yeah.

It's definitely just a curved screen rather than the flat down. Flat Mercedes. The pizza. There's no buttons underneath.

There's a hazard. There's a hazard button and then there's a max defrosting front air conditioning button and a rear demistor button and that's it. There's no other buttons. But with a center screen you've got your nav controls.

If you hit the climate, it's touch screen. If you hit the climate menu button it opens up like your air conditioning type command controls. So it's pretty funky. But if you've been in a BMW or owned a BMW it's pretty...

Oh it's a new territory. It's a... It's an evolution revolution. It's almost...

No it's evolution. If you put someone in this car that has... If you close the BMW badge off, you won't be there. You won't be there.

You won't be there. And all the badges and you put a lifelong BMW owner in here. They would go... What's going on?

What is this? Yeah. It is different. The switch key, the buttons, right?

It's not the... It's very not BMW. So they've moved the... So on the door you've got the seat-like buttons.

Like the same time as CDs but they've got that crystal... That plastic crystal. What are you doing? Okay.

To open the door you have to push a button like a Corvette. But there's one down here too. What's that? Is that the emergency?

What are you doing? What are you doing? I'm not going to run over the doors. You're going to push a button to open the door.

But you found it like a latch on the door. It's like a... Yeah. Like that's where we like an emergency latch.

So... Okay. So the whole electric thing is very... Obviously if you use the internal combustion engine...

It's... We... I haven't done the party trick yet. It's not we yet.

We have to fix some buttons. Yeah. It's weird because there's no... There's no resistance.

There's no mechanical... There's no mechanical parts. It's very... When you're going to take off...

It's like... How far do I press this throttle? Yeah. One side of the brain is going...

It's something not working. Like my left foot was thinking, What's going on? I'm not doing much. Because you can run for drive and I'll go through that in a moment.

I'll let it help experience it. Set the moment. It's just in drive. There's no gears.

It is like a big fucking go-car. Not go-car. Golf car. It's got that.

So it's all drive. It's all drive. It's all drive. It's single engine.

So the 40's the base. It's that's around 145 on road. It's a single engine. The range is about 400 kilometers.

Then you go to the 50, which is about 180,000 on road. And the 50's got a dual engine at a 570 kilometer range. And then it hasn't been released yet, but the next big day is the 60M, which is like the X5M competitor. I saw Ross earlier today.

He couldn't make it tonight. And he had a look at it. I put the photos up on Instagram. But we parked the Ix next to the X5M and it made his car look old straight away.

Like this is a pretty funky new design. Thin lights. So Ross is already on. He's putting his name down for a 60M.

But he doesn't know he comped him. It's awesome. I don't know. But the grills fake.

So it's got like a 3D design, but there's no, they've got the large kidney grills, but it's just a plastic panel. And I was told that I can't open the bonnet. If you try to open the bonnet, a little latch opens to fill up the water for your wipers. So I'm going to do a trick later on about the navigation we might be later.

So at the moment it's just in drive. Now, have you driven electric cars before? But if you don't want pedal driving, I'm going to flip the switch to B for battery, regenerative mode. So now you can drive with one pedal.

So when you accelerate, you accelerate. And then when you're ease off, it'll start slowing down. So you're going to sort of balance the pedal. It feels weird at the start, but after 20, okay, you're going to do it.

But typical electric car, you can take your breath away when you're the passenger. But see how all the way to stop. So if you've got the taco sort of meat on your right, it's got arrows down. So when you're in that zone.

So now we're trying to balance. You're balancing the throttle to keep the car. So basically you drive with the brakes on. Sort of, but you drive it with one foot.

You drive it with one foot. And you know what? This makes you lazy. Yeah, this makes you lazy.

This makes you lazy. This takes away, like, this is good for camera drivers. I tell you what, then you're not alert when you drive in this car, but then you've got to be able to feature to keep you alert. So you've got to just off the lights.

What do you think? It's not like that. It's not. It's not.

But you've got to move. It takes off. It's not like the Tesla three where we were. So is this braking as in the bike?

Yeah. I don't know if it has to be. It has to be because someone's going to ramp up the arse. But it's regenerating from the brake.

So it's adding extra kilometers. So I have not used the brakes. No. And we're going to come to a complete and basically got it dead stop.

Yep. Right before the line. Oh, well, that's pretty cool. Yeah.

It's keeping like a little school. I don't like it's all. It's all. I don't know if it's set to.

It's like when you're in school and you touch the wheel. Yeah. For the first time you're using my head. You're too scared to put the second head on.

No, I'm using my second head. Oh, that's just it. So basically, it's that one foot driving, which is, um, bad. I've got used to it.

It's pretty cool. Towards the end of the day. I'll be getting at the first time it's a bit of a headache. But then you get used to it.

I'm not going to mind it. So what level of auto-strolling do we have? I haven't played with those buttons on my 90. Okay.

So like, I've had time to read. Okay. Yeah. Let's see if it's sound, if it's all done.

Let's try that soft park. You don't have to do it? No. We'll be fine.

We'll go to go down the road. It's pretty cool. This is a comfortable. It's not really an SUV.

It's like a large sedan that's off the ground. Yeah. It's not that far off the ground. It doesn't feel like an SUV when you drive it out.

No. It's not driving like an SUV. There's no SUV that you drive like cars anyway. Yeah.

The suspension's true for, that's not for, you know, no one's taking their X-5s and Audi 2-7s and stuff, bushmashing and off-road. Okay. So the AEDC. Yeah.

Big red, um, because driving with the one foot in the car in front of the snow down a good other body should have. Um, what, I, okay. I'm used to the one foot thing. You've got to want to want this car?

Yeah. You've got to want an electric. You can't just lift off the throttle like you normally do. If suddenly it just breaks.

It just breaks. Yeah. You've got to get used to that. Like normally, if you drive it along and lift off the throttle, the car will just start losing speed.

How can we drive as a Tesla when he's next to us? Anyway, should be the one you've got. He's got cars in front of us. Let's see if it's just a 75.

If it says 75, it's a pop-up pack we can take him. No, not in this. I think we lose. You reckon?

This is the pop-up pack. Is that? It's a debauge that's been wrapped. Yeah.

Yeah. It's probably a plate. So, yeah. You've got to really want an EV.

You know, just buy this as an alternative. Yeah. Look, yeah. If you're looking at spending mid-hundreds on a family car, you'd really want to buy an EV to dish out of this.

Because you could still go off and buy a, uh, the GLE 400D. For that money? Yeah. Uh, uh, how do I have a 45 grand for a leading?

Q8. Yeah. It's, I mean, it's the buy next file. I have a decent one with a decent decent engine in it.

No, it's not. It's a stop sign. Can you go? I've got it.

Yeah, so what are the things? You've got to really want an EV. There's no... We're at the other extreme.

Yeah, you don't have to want this car. Or an EV SUV type. There's no, there's no middle ground. There's no, yeah.

Hybrid's, I guess. But you know, the other guy in the pool, you don't. You know what else I liked? I mean, you design on the, on the door handles when you open the door.

Do you notice that? See, put your hand in the hole and you push the button. Yeah. That's it.

I've never seen that before with the Tesla as they come out. There's no moving part. All you're doing is pressing a button from inside the door. Okay.

Let's put this in balls out now. All right. So have you figured it out? No.

No. Cut. Cut. Okay.

So we've got to go to menu. Menu. It's a driver settings. Driver settings.

Driver assistance. Okay. All right. We'll do that on the way home.

Okay. Now I've got that. We don't need that. All right.

So we've got driving assistance, feedback by steering wheel driving, speed that assist the driving, parking, sound when available cross-traffic land. It's all down touch, green wheel. Safety warnings, collision warnings. Yeah.

Yeah. No. No. No.

No. No. No. No.

No. No. No. No.

No. No. No. No.

No, no. No drive drive. Mate. There's no motor mode.

No. No. Touch mode. No.

No. No. No. No.

No. Cause we've stuck driving unfortunately. No. That hurt us to meet people, right?

Yeah. Oh. This justCla',bach parking. No.

ledge mode. I need that one. Oh fuck sorry. Oh, well.

Oh. This is earlier. It's not the one. Yeah, when you start a static on your AM radio and your dead things won't.

Nice car but it needs points. So if I turn that off, it's in there. Quiet. That's just the Avers, one of those.

Where's the... what? I can't even sound. So I can't even sound.

Press it. The drive? Sound is adjusted depending on the... My modes.

My modes. Hey BMW, my modes. I think you have to do it through your app. Oh fuck sake.

I don't know man seriously. What's wrong with just putting it in S4 speed? Here we go. It's seats adequate.

It's efficient. It moves. It moves. It moves.

Like, you're in a traffic light or a pre, but you're not going to take it to Royal Racing. Well, no, you wouldn't take it to Royal Racing. Hey, I can race anything at this point in life. No, no, no.

Like, it's raining tonight. I always think it's Wednesday night and it's having a spare ticket. Because this would have been a fun car at Royal Racing just to show off that... Like, no, yeah.

Okay. So I've got this theory and I just think... This is a world-built car. So this is...

From being in the Teslas and driving the Teslas, this is miles ahead in built-quality. Oh, I put the Taycan... It's a bit plasticy. It's a different car.

The Taycan... Yeah, it's a different level. It's a different level. It's a double the price and more.

Right? But, you know, this is on par. If you wanted to go by the Model X... Oh yeah.

Yeah, that. Oh, you'd buy this. You'd buy this. You don't get the golden doors, but you'd buy this.

And... If you want more ones. No, no, that's not... That's it.

That's what I would like. Yeah, so we're in a dark end of Mexico with the... What I have, I tend to work. I reckon this thing was a good answer.

I tried. It wouldn't go sideways either. I'll get it right there. Because it's raining today, the roads that will be polished, we hooked it and it wouldn't.

So... And I don't think you could probably do a traditional brake and start... So, I might point it out. Well, okay.

Maybe we should call my mate, or else from House of Belless, and see if you're watching the shop up and disconnect, maybe the rear brakes. We'll call it before the door opens up. Just put extra batteries in it, like a couple of triple A's. It's a nice car.

It is a... Look, this is real car. Like, if you... This is a real nice daily drive.

140 grand daily drive. Yeah. Yeah. It's...

But if you want it, if you want it something this size, and are inclined for EV, this is now probably the once upon. Yeah. Like 400K range. You'd be...

You'd probably need to charge it twice a week if you're doing school runs and... Not even school runs. Once a week. Once a week.

Decent charge and you'll keep it at three quarters all the time. Yeah. And then you'll be able to... We're going.

Yeah. Yeah. So... It goes.

It goes. It goes. It's an adequate... It goes.

It goes. It's adequate. It's more than adequate. I mean, I'm an adequate sort of underplaying it.

But in the EV world, there are faster, crazier cars. Right. It's not all about speed. No, not even on the way.

An EV to set records or... You know, I've got... So if you're at a... Listen, this is the thing I've got.

If you're at 145 grand at, say, 400 kilometer range, would you spend the extra 30 and get the 50 with the 570 with dual engines? Because I'll let you up to one really big Ks without charging... Yeah. ...through the early.

You don't need it. You don't need it. I'm going to say that without driving the 50. This is the EV that had val before us.

I've got 400Ks. At 400Ks. I do maybe 60, 70Ks a day, 80 if I'm real busy. Right?

So really, I could get through three, three, four days without having to plug it in. Yeah. Right? You might get a bit of attrition as well by the, you know, just the battery getting weaker.

So basically, every three days if I plugged it in, I could keep it at three quarters and make sure I've got range. Yeah. So it's not like I'm going to have a spontaneous drive to Canberra, because I know that I'm only going there in January for the summer. Yeah.

And at this stage, you're not going to have two EVs in the family. You have one, you do, you have one sort of... What other car? Think about this one.

What? What life does... 50,000 kilometers of you. Yeah.

She could literally charge this thing once a week. Yeah. Keep it, keep it charged. Yeah.

But she wouldn't be doing 300, 400Ks a week. So once a week, she could top it up and it'd be a top up. It wouldn't be a full charge. Yeah.

Now, I'm going to show you something with the Nave, which is quite a lot of seats. I've got a similar function, but I'm going to head back to... Fill from... Just go.

So basically, what this Nave does is be set a screen. So when you're driving along, see you've got the wide screen and it's telling you where to go. And thank you, just go. When you get towards a junction where you have to turn or do something, two thirds of the screen turns into a live camera feed.

Oh, cool. And it's got an arrow with arrows as to where you're supposed to go and turn. Okay. So basically...

You know, this Nave screen is about the size of the old grid rigs that was in 8. Free from scratch. If you open it up. Yeah.

Oh, wow. It's a massive screen, but what happens is when you get to an intersection, it's a cool virtual. I don't know what the scene is called, but... So basically, it looks like you're playing a 4-hit line game, because it's got the arrows in 3D as to where you've got to turn.

But I have one gripe and is it because it's raining today and I picked it up. As I was driving, something was flicking on the screen. And I'm going to see how I'll experience it. I was sort of gave away, but I'm just trying to fill in the time to get to my fucking intersection.

So on my screen, I now have my arrow arrow. Right? Yeah. On my...

On my head up display. And it says 800 meters that I kicked to the right. Yep. So that's your traditional three arrows on each of your...

For me, it would be in WNF display. It sort of has the... Each lane marked as an arrow in it, putting both the lanes in it, all the two lanes there. The two lanes up there.

Yeah, you use. But now the screen will flip and it should do it at this junction. If it doesn't, then it'll purposely go the wrong way. Here it is.

So the screen? Yep. Oh, wow. Okay.

See the arrow? Yeah, it's telling you to basically stay here and kick to the right. Now, if you see the... Then you've got those five arrows, it's like you've played a game of...

Yep. Now that's fine. Cigarari. Yes.

Is that by the way? No, that's the water. It's not the water. The camera is sort of behind the rear here.

The wiper goes in front of it. Yeah. So it keeps flicking the wiper covers the camera that's sitting in front of the review mirror to assist you with that. Yep.

So it's not using the parking cameras. Yep. It's using the camera. I don't know whether that camera acts as a sensor as well.

But what happens is the wiper flips across the front of that screen. And out of the corner, oh, it's like you're not going to screen some flick when you're filming the LED. It doesn't add. And that...

I don't know. That's what I wanted to show you with the GPS and said earlier. But like I said, it's world design. It's trying to be simplistic in its design.

It's got like an Akia wooden where the iDrive dial used to be. Tries to make it like a crystal gear. But already lazy. I don't...

With my foot? Yep. I don't... You just...

You lose concentration. So... I don't know. I like it.

But man... I'm not comfortable in this scene. You don't think so? Like it's good.

But the leg support isn't there. Make for a BMW C to put a lot of their seats. I've said... No, the leg support.

I would not want to be on driver's. Oh, the M3 correctly. This would be better. I'm going to be driving for a couple of hours straight.

I just thought... Now look, I... If you're... Thumbs up for me if you are looking for this type of car.

If you're looking for a large family car with... With all the features without it going over the top, you've got a gazillion menus, we're going to touch the surface with the eye control. I can't wait to cancel the note because... Yeah, I'm trying to have a banana do it then.

So basically... ABW... Stop navigation. Not guidance, end it.

That's it. So there you go. That's awesome. So yeah, it is designed for you to talk to the car.

And apparently what you do is you set up your profile through an app and the voice activation learns your commands. Yeah. So over time it gets better. It's not my kids all have learned it and they'll just jump in the car and go...

Run back. Let's see, I think. It rolls back sometimes. That's me.

That's not very... Yeah, it's not like the move when you push down on the holes. Even though it does say all the holes. Yeah.

So that's another thing we'll... Grab a close and roll back. But it's kind of all back and talk. You don't even notice it because the car's not actually running or moving.

But like I said, it's one of those cars, it's well built. It would last. You've got the backup and the service to BMW. It's not a Tesla or an MG electric.

Speaking of that, I'm saying that stuff. You've got the support. BMW is now the only European that doesn't offer a 5-year warranty. Yeah, but you've got a strength.

Which gives you 5 to... It gives you 5 to... Even though the car makers give you 3, you can still go to drive your own and make an application within the 5-year limitation period, which overrides their own laws. Yeah, I know.

It's a pound of that, but hey... It's a gesture of good faith to say. Here's 5 years and you won't have to go to the trouble of... Especially when a lot of leases when you buy these car cars are 3.

No one gets a... No one gets a 5-year lease. You're going to find the lease if you can't afford it in the first place. When you get stuck with the shit balloon, which is what's going to happen in the second 3 years time.

But like I said, it's well built. It drives well. The two things that we really need are really being fussy. They're falling in the book at the right place.

I don't think they'll get it because it doesn't look like a time come. And the thing with the roll back, I don't have to check with Brad in relation to that. But it just fums up for me. If you want an EV, that's how I put it.

Because you really want an EV. You want to get a shop around and this is... You're not going to cross shop this. You're not going to look at diesel or petrol or hybrid.

It's a different kind of look at this. It's not the same. It's not the same. You've got to want...

You don't want to get used to having a lot more... A lot less clutter in the car as in switch gear. Because everything's on a screen. And some people don't like that either.

Yeah. You know, you know, your kids will not have to use it. My kids set the nav for their grandma in her car. But at the end of the day, you've got to really want it.

And getting used to it is easy. Like I said, I'm still impressed with that one foot. And I've read magazines and I've got one foot driving in electric cars. I've thought, really?

Would you? And you know what? I don't mind it. It works for me.

Thumbs up. With an asterisk. Do you want an EV? Yeah, you have to want an EV.

I'm not... Not convinced. And I'm stood by that when we drive the Tesla and the Taycan. Yeah, you're not.

You're not. I'm not that excited. I'm just like... No, I drive on.

But I want to be paying 140. This is just... This is just transport. Yeah, it feels like it's in it.

It feels like sitting on a quiet bus. Yeah, you might as well be in a... Well, it's in a quiet bus. It's in a quiet bus.

It's a very quiet... Yeah. It's... Thanks for that.

It's a last job. You know what? I want to end with this. I'm gonna do one more sort of...

Launch. How hard? You want to let it go? See?

Okay, can't see. Break drops? No, break drops. It is.

It is. It's giving you some reps. Yeah, it's giving you some reps. It's giving you a fucking picture of it.

And away we go. Yeah. It's got like a brisket. It's up a lot.

So we're on 100% back to the power. So basically... Oh, fuck, now I forgot I was going to finish up. Anyway, like...

Yeah, I like it. But you got to want it. And it's not the top of it like it's hard by it. Like I'm a fanboy.

I want to get into an I for it, especially an I for M. That'll come soon. Yeah. I do it.

I... Oh. You really... This is just like...
