It was a beautiful day in Wellington. We had an appointment at her stables and were a few minutes early. As we were approaching the address we had been given, we saw her. She was riding her horse along the road. She was probably returning from a hack along the sandy tracks of Wellington. She dismounted to greet us in the middle of the yard, smiling and looking at us with a frank, direct and kind gaze. Margie Engle is small in stature, but when you meet her, you immediately understand that a strong and grounded personality has taken root in this tiny woman.You must then listen to her tell her life story. Margie recounts amusing anecdotes from her teenage years spent with horses. The foals she broke in, the Arabian horses she rode, the difficult horses she tried her luck with. Her career is a perfect reflection of her strong character and daring spirit.At 67, she continues to ride for the American team and embody American show jumping style.
