When you apply for a position at a company because your friend referred you, make sure you are doing your side of the work. Thoroughly review the job description, check out the company website, and get curious. It's not a great sign that you're totally interested in the opportunity when you say that you are a referral but you haven't done much to make sure you're going to be a right fit for the company and that the company will be a right fit for you.
