This powerful panel goes beyond the surface and looks at the real barriers behind domestic violence, coercive control, housing insecurity, financial abuse, trauma, and recovery. In this conversation, lived experience voices and frontline experts discuss early intervention, perpetrator accountability, safe homes, economic security, children’s safety, legal support, health services, and the need for stronger wraparound care. The discussion shows why leaving abuse is not a simple decision. It can involve fear, threats, children, money, housing, family safety, and years of emotional control. We also explore why systems need to listen more deeply to victim-survivors, why lived experience should shape policy and frontline training, and why communities must focus not only on helping women protect themselves, but also on teaching respect, healthy relationships, and accountability. This is a deeply human conversation about survival, courage, healing, and the changes needed to build safer homes and safer communities.
