134 – Cultivating healthy minds, Self-fullness, dietary guidelines, guilt and coherent narratives
from Healthy Mind Fit Body · host Wes
To cultivate healthy minds, we need to achieve clarity about a lot of systemic issue. As we do, we can actualize our potential, seeking to meet needs for enriching connection, intrinsically motivating purpose, and profound meaning. Unfortunately, our culture largely promotes an ethics of sacrifice, so integrating one’s authentic Self can be challenging amidst ideas of selfishness and selflessness. Self-fullness honors the spectrum of human needs. Nutritional needs continue to be sacrificed by governmental dietary guidelines; once again, we can question them, so that our physical health doesn’t suffer. In place of the moralistic judgment of guilt, we can understand our fallibility, attune to remorse, connect to needs, and make amends via restorative justice. Living an emotionally autonomous existence and living with unprocessed trauma can be transformed into healing visibility of one’s emotional life with others.
