135. Week Of Encouragement! - Parenting is Like Growing Plants
from Practically Speaking Mom: Intentional Mom, Strong Family · host Val Harrison, The Practically Speaking MOM
Just a few days ago the ground looked dormant. The mulch had faded and decomposing leaves were burrowed all around the flowerbed.... For a moment I worried that my plants wouldn't emerge...You know, mamas, parenting is a lot like raising plants. We’re tending these plants BEFORE the growth comes. Growth is not always visible at the moment and we are tempted to get discouraged to think our efforts are not paying off, or to feel undo pressure on ourselves or on our children to reach maturity immediately -mature in mind or in habits or in character development. Mama, plants just don’t grow like that. They grow in seasons of dormant and new growth. Dear mom friend, my prayer for you today is that you would take care and keep putting in effort toward the tending of your children. New growth is coming. It might be just one rainstorm away from seeing a big growth spurt in their character, in their decision-making, in their attitude, in their soul. Galatians 6:9 says, Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.Intentional Mamas! This week is a bit different on the PSM Podcast. This week I am doing three short episodes on M,W, and F. It’s a week of encouragement for you- my intentional mom friends. Then beginning next week we will be back to our usual Monday episodes again. This month we’ll be tackling the have-to's in life. That’s right, we’ll be beginning some new episodes in the Lasso your life series, including some mom hacks for figuring out how to get your kids to clean there room without it wreaking havoc on the parent/child relationship. We will also talk about Kid HABITS. It's all next week on the podcast. But first, this Friday we will wrap up our week of encouragement to moms.If you'd like to learn more about how raising kids is a lot like raising plants, here's a link to the audio version of my book Wearing All Your Hats without Wearing Out.
