139: Amanda Thompson and David De Jesus of Delightfully Vixen

A little about our guests. Amanda was born in Louisiana, then moved to Oklahoma, Arizona, and Florida as a child. She returned to Arizona as an adult. David hails from Chicago and is a big sports fan. Amanda received her Bachelor’s degree in Human Behavioral Studies and is working toward her PhD. in Transpersonal Counseling with an emphasis on sexual health. David’s background is in retail. He has always wanted to go into business for himself and, with Amanda, began that journey 2 ½ years ago. Amanda knew she did not want a traditional job, so together they created Delightfully Vixen. A little about their business. It was a need for extreme flexibility in her schedule that started Amanda searching for something she could do. She found an under-served market in women who needed bra-fitting and lingerie and weren’t “average.” She added in her studies to create a safe space for women and couples to ask about various areas of sexual health. David’s background in retail, his knowledge of apparel, and his knowledge of marketing has helped get this dream of both of them off the ground. One piece of advice (the nutshell version) When you make the decision to get into business for yourself, really know what business you are getting in to.
