If you haven't listened to the full interview yet, check it out first. After interviewing Bryan Caplan about his book, The Case Against Education, I had so many thoughts rolling around that I wanted to record a separate follow up episode.  In this episode, I cover where I think Bryan is right and where I don't think he goes far enough.  Topics Covered: - Economic thinking and rational choice theory to explain the choice to go to college. - The role of parents in their kid's choices to go to college. - Do you need to be a super genius to succeed without college? - People choose college out of fear for bucking the dominant belief system. - Getting cheap easy praise from college and how that creates entitlement. - College grads are free to blame the economy when they are unemployed. - College degrees as a social signal, not an economic signal. Full show notes for every episode are available at isaacmorehouse.com

The Isaac Montes Show The Isaac Montes Show Welcome to the The Isaac Montes Show where I’m just being...well me Isaac Bickerstaff, Physician and Astrologer by Richard Steele (1672 - 1729) LibriVox Isaac Bickerstaff Esq. was a pseudonym used by Jonathan Swift as part of a hoax to predict the death of then famous Almanac-maker and astrologer John Partridge. In 1709, Richard Steele bolstered the release of his new satirical paper The Tatler by naming the fictitious Isaac Bickerstaff Esq. as editor. These are fictional essays/memoirs of Bickerstaff, written by Steele. Isaac writes from his time, and his personal things on what was going on. Bickerstaff, or rather Richard Steele, talks mostly about Mr. Bickerstaff's friends, his family, and the many different entertainments that Bickerstaff goes through. Bickerstaff also gets many opportunities to talk to people who are in trouble with their spouse or maybe looking for a partner, and so Bickerstaff plays the role of a father, giving advice to many characters throughout the book.
