I think they can train him and like work with him and teach him what can apprenticeship. It's like that six-minute dollar man we can build him. We just need the six-minute dollars. Was the six-minute dollar man or we need the six-minute dollar man?
We don't need that man. Yeah, well it's tough. We just need that's um, I think you got the bionic woman. I can do that.
It's hard to think about the truck. That's what happens. What are you doing in your room? I'm trying to think about the car company.
How did that happen to me? I just got to speak up loud. I can always up up behind you. I feel tired.
Yesterday we sat around most of the day doing nothing. I got one flying lap in the car. You know, you just all day you do one lap and just wait. Is that because of the time table?
I give the other guys time. But still the time table was shit. You know, we started early in the morning and then we did nothing until the end of the day. We sat around all day.
I had to think when there was a big e-mail in the last night. So we were really tired last night. We went to dinner and everyone wanted to go home and go to bed and fall asleep. We went to dinner.
We went to dinner and we went up to dinner. We went up to dinner and we listened to the all talk podcast, live podcast, have a chicane bar in Baffes. We're doing a live podcast. We've got Rick Shaw, Tom Shaw, drivers of the Mazzar X-8 in Baffes' six hour.
I've got Tom the roving reporter. We've got security here. We've got Singapore Steve in the crowd. We've got an audience today.
So good day everyone. Thank you for listening. You heard the words of Tom there. It's a big weekend.
Baffes. We've got nothing going wrong. Something goes wrong with an emotional stress and it ties you and we ease you out. So stressed out when we got there.
The boys have a bit of a break. We go to a live in the pit lane. It's pretty busy down there. There's always something happening.
How many crew you've got this weekend? We've got 13 guys on the crew including drivers. So there's three drivers. We've got both of them.
We've got Mr. Foxy from the UK. We've got the wild rival content. So we left even the pit lane.
He's got a loud out. He's got a full sense race in the background. So I guess today was first day of our practice. We had two practice sessions.
They gave us an opportunity to shake the card. I made sure it was working well. It's a break material in and give us a pop and a dunked on sure. The opportunity to drive a car and get used to it.
I only did one lap because that's all I needed to do. But the car went like a... It's going really well. It's been tested for a while.
It's not going to be anything nasty. And how'd you get out there Tom? It's been good especially back to the second year. Last year we came in at 86, 20, 26.
That's right. You're taking the podcast a couple weeks ago? Yeah, it was good event to do the first betters. We did that as well.
And you're comfortable in the RX-8? That's your regular car for the RX-8 car? How do you find a round betters? I mean, betters is a tricky track.
It's brought a lot of the hardest tracks to race on. How do you... being in a more comfortable car and find it? More at home?
More at home? We were racing last weekend. So, sort of being seasoned in the shoe, racing in the car. And then having a factor back weekend, it helps.
So, being in a basic car car to me, which was our home. How do you feel out there? Do you still got a bit more alert? Do you feel like you're back at one of those tracks?
You can't think, oh, that's okay. I don't know what the time is, but I still check my mirrors and stuff. But this weekend, having 70-year-olds. I didn't think of that.
You're probably looking in the mirror more than the other car. Because it's class racing. It's different. It's class racing.
Can I say something about that mirror too? That's one big Asian mirror. You got for a view mirror. You can't just put that in there.
Why is that? When you got a class X-star's BMW M3 coming up with? Tom, have you got that in your car? No, I've got the one for you at work.
I pulled out of a Nissan Alfa. It's not that big. It's got a crime picture frame around it. I'm going to bring that.
It is right on it. That's right. It is a big track. You do get to get to the car.
But how many cars are in the starting grid tomorrow morning? I think there was about 70 entered to the weekend. After a few day in the F-star's, we're probably looking at 65-67 cars. Those are not about this track.
That means everyone's starting around the corner. It's a rolling star. So we need a rolling star. Are we still?
When the cars are on-dream? We have the corner. And they're putting in the different classes? Yeah, so class is going to be those eight classes?
So you have X-class with your half- and the other cars in the same category. We're not about winning class. We're a lot of players based on class structure. We're in day class here.
We'd be fun for a podium. We're at the same class. We're probably looking outside the top three. We can't get out of here.
It's really going to be a bit of luck. So with the RX seconds, the rotary is traditionally a smaller engine. So one point three is the RX eight. But we'd imagine the cylinder-type cars.
What capacity are the other cars? We're against three liter BMWs, so three liter. In a lot of turbo four-cylinder cars. What about the one from Lashi?
What is it? What is the Mashi? The Mashi Mashi? We should be in the Class D car, but we do a similar to the Class D car.
So in Class C, which we're in and they won't change it, we're sort of behind the April. We've had a second in class once before, so it's like, you know, the thought of some hair type thing. We just got to keep going. It's a long race, it's six hours.
And we've talked about Mazda reliability in the car, including the race car, they tend to not break those times, and as an imp even in the race trend, they're pretty reliable. It's all about the work you do back in the workshop. You build a good car and you attention to details, good, and you make sure it's as right as it can be, you're generally going to be alright. And that's pretty much how we run our team.
So coming here today and having a little electrical problem with something, soon, you know, a little bit off for you. You're always going to have something go wrong. And yesterday, nothing went wrong. And I actually said, I'm worried you're going to have something to go wrong.
You always expect the worst. It's something. So that's something we're going to have to be in a different way. So what was today's problem?
Electrical sensor on an oil-neetering pump on the engine that made the throttle close down and go into the liquid. So when you're in the limit, you can still drive the car, but you've only got part bottles that's right. So we've hopefully fixed that car seems to be working properly. And it's something that happens during the race.
You've literally got to be on your feet and get together and sort of work it out. Everything's going to have a plan B and a plan C. But Rich today didn't hear you, but we were told that you'd pick the book out for the first time. There was a book on the...
Okay. Now I didn't... To be fair, I didn't pull the workshop manually. He'd be pulled the book out.
He'd be able to pull the app because he likes to read and he's really good at the electrical and he's really good at the electrical. Okay, he'd do. He got the electrical. So he had to scan it and check the computer system and he was reading up on some electrical and...
He was a big lad of bull. Yeah, all these two chapters of it, you know, like you can use it to reach a top shot at the top. Yeah, yeah. No, I just rely on the common sense, which is sometimes not all that good, but you know, you get just through.
I mean, you know those cars may be fine. You've worked with rotaries for a long time for decades. So you tend to... I mean, electronic, it could be a grand...
It could be a grand line or something at the end of the day. Well, the problem we had was a very unusual problem tonight. And that's what sort of upset me a little bit. We weren't expecting it.
We fixed it and we've got a plan B and a plan C up our sleeve. So we've got fights as a game during the race. We've got to prove what I want to do to do to do our best to get in there and fix it. Yeah.
That's great. Pick the car going. That's great. Any questions from our live audience today?
Any questions? Nothing. We've got a bunch of smiling fans. I've got the shirts all, but basically...
How many pit stops can you do to it? Five. We think five. We don't want to do five, but we think we're going to have to do five.
So that feel kind of like how long the car will go for before it needs to be fueled. And the Mazda radio unfortunately is a fairly thirsty car. So, you know, I think we're going to be doing five stops. Tires will last forever on this car.
It hasn't got a lot of horsepower and it's really well balanced. It's not a heavy car. So it looks after the tires really well. So we could probably do, believe it or not, the whole race, the whole six hours on the one set.
But we will change the right-hand side, the driver's side, about halfway through it, only because we can. And is that because it's at any clockwise track? Yeah. So there's a lot more wear.
All low. Number one. And we're in here on the driver's side. And I noticed that it runs with the same MIRF or the sponsors for the tire sponsor for the whole car.
Yeah, it's a controlled tire. Yeah, so you guys aren't running slicer though? No. No, it's the same tire for every car.
Obviously the size is very from car to car. Okay. But it's a controlled tire. So it's exactly the same.
Wet or dry, same tire. So it's a controlled tire. It's a controlled tire. Yeah.
So the other changes from your usual RX8, Cup day, Cup races, Tom is there anything that the car's set up differently? Pretty much what we could do with the one that we finished the 6R race with this new build. If you wanted to take the 6R, Cup be good. It's the only difference in the build really.
You've got a fuel system in the Cup. Okay. It's got a cup exhaust. It's got pretty much all the set up suspension in the back here if you run.
It's all the same. But the fits will be in the back of the category. Yeah, but the thing is with the Cup Series, you can race with the fuel and the system set up. So obviously for the 6R race, it's not a sprint race.
Yeah, I feel the car up. Because you're feeling a mid-race. You're doing some adjustments. Yeah, you have to make any changes.
Yeah, you have to make any changes. Because you're a pretty tall boy. Yeah, I'm on the tallest in the car. Yeah.
Does the seat move? Yes. It does. But surprisingly, all three drivers in the same sport.
The same set up. Dave, Cup, Stosius, Cushion. Okay. Is that because of the age or is that because of the...
It's not either the fit you can still see. No, I'm not. But yeah, so if you're pretty much getting in and out of the car, it's going to be seamless because you're pretty much the seats of the... You're all using the same sort of setup.
Yeah, it makes a way. It makes a way to move the seat. Same belt. It starts when things can go wrong in the stop.
Or the longer it picks up or jack up. There's a couple of things here and there. We're pretty lucky we're all sitting in the same seat. Yeah.
That's good. I mean that makes a big difference. Lucky me and security ain't sitting in it. We'd have to not have one to see.
Oh mate. We look to get in and they look at us and said no, you better not. Because... I don't like what Rick said if something goes wrong.
It's just something else you've got to worry about. It's basically... Security and I weren't allowed to get in there because one they wouldn't be able to get us out. So...
Well anyway, good luck for tomorrow. Have a safe race, a good race. And what's the saying Rick? It's a finished first, you've got to finish.
You've got to finish the finish first. I'd like to say something for you. Of course you can, mate. That's what I think the guys with the live support for coming to wake up in a world of cold, many toys.
They all look great in the new shirts. I think it's one of the car. Tom's all about it. First of all, there's basic security.
It's another way to say. Massive thanks to that for coming down. Look, I'm a few super supporting us this weekend. That's good.
I don't know what's in support. I'm in front of the car. I'm from the Atlanta, no? Everyone has support.
It makes it easy for everyone. It is a team sport, even though it is racist. But there's a big pit crew down there. And thank you for inviting us to.
Behind the scenes literally seeing what a pit lane looks like. I've never really been. Can you give us a wave to marry your constrains? Can you hear us?
Can you come down that straight? Yeah, it is. Can you come up and hear anything? It's a bar of power on that.
No. But it is, yeah, it will not be on the other side. So if we come out in front of you? Yeah, yeah.
So good luck with it tomorrow. Like I said, have a safe race. Enjoy it out there. I suppose once you enjoy it, you get a feel for it.
The results will come through. So be safe tomorrow. Enjoy it. Good luck.
Thanks guys.
