You are now listening to the UK and the world's favourite wrestling podcast. Archie and wrestling with your host Andy and Emma. It sounds like... Someday...
Earliest podcast ever. Well why the hell not? I feel like it. Is this the Earliest Podcast?
Or did we do some late night for co-ons? What was that one we did when we were in Boston? Why did we do that? Did we just set the mic?
I don't remember. I don't remember. I feel like a member for the Boston one. Yeah.
Is the picture. That's all the pictures with the mics. I don't remember anything about recording. That was it after the morning in the phone.
No, because it was winter. It was winter time. So I think we just did a podcast. We must watch it on the telly or something.
Maybe podcasting, like, much raw, maybe. I can't remember that at all, but we were fucking hummered. And bear in mind as well, that will have been December. And think about how shit is that gone, yeah, I'm sorry.
Think about how shit WWE is in December. Like, why are we going to... Like, this is going to be a great fucking podcast. We obviously have to holiday, hi, didn't we?
I think we did. Thank you very much. If it goes again, just pass it back to you. I am the Vape Fixer.
I think I could be a Vape mechanic. Well, that would you say, obviously, Chris Astles about gimmicks and being a wrestler again. Vape mechanic. That's like a real 1991 WWE.
Do you know what? I did think of a really good wrestling character in the day. He's gone now. But if it comes back to me, I'll remember it right down for the next time.
And I was like, that's a fucking minke character. No, no, like, bit comedy. You know what, lukewarm was. It was like that.
Lukewarm. I forgot all the power. It's luke. Warm.
I imagine him walking like John Silver. Joe would be. That's exactly what Vince would call on in Chasity. He's lukewarm.
Yeah, it's good name for on Chasity, really. No, shit. I mean, I like it. It's great for like if we were pissing about or something like that, but Orange Chasity, the level he is.
Yeah, true. Lukewarm. Don't slap that fucking leg dog. Oh God.
Why are we here? Why are we here? Just because we've got some time to kill before AEW's revolution. That was me doing like a settle, by the way.
Not like asking you, God, I'm the why are we here doing this? It was an explanation as to why we're doing another podcast. It's not just why we're here in general on this earth. No, no, no, no.
It was a settle. I'm not trying to be more like a fucking presenter. Well, I've got, I've got, I've got, I've got some reason like it for over the last few shows, the working title has got on, but it's actually got over and it's got on the work. So today's working title is RTM Wrestling episode 139, The Dark Match.
That's what it is. It's a random fucking thing to try out RTM's two stars. Somebody's getting squashed in 10 seconds. It's a dark match type show.
So we're going to go through some news. We're going to go through some mental character changes that were pointed out to us. Thank you, Axel Jamo, because obviously we've not been watching WWE and a little bit of reminiscing, maybe looking to the future in what we want to do when things all go back to normal. So I had this thought the other day and the entire conversation just got dominated by AEW, which we've got to watch for because obviously not everybody who listens to was watches AEW.
You should, you should. I mean, there is still a plethora of your goal to talk about with WWE. Oh, in pure goals. Even if you don't watch it.
Nigerian goals. But it's back down this week. They're 2.1 million viewers, which is astonishing really. It is actually.
But it's really good. It was considering Raw now is definitely the B show. It has been for the last few months. It's been under a 2 million quite comfortably for the last few months.
As far as I've seen and I've not looked into it. Sorry, just on the side, no with that. I've never really understood to that shift. Why they've been, because SmackDown even when they did the brand split and everything.
SmackDown was the second show. It was always on. And a Monday Night Raw is so engraved in wrestling history now. So I just don't understand why they have kind of waited it so heavily to Friday.
And I don't really get the reason behind it. Raw is really fucking struggling and the actual finished product is a bit panced. Why have we not, why, why, what happened? I don't know.
What made Friday the night they want to get the viewership. Maybe it's the network. Maybe the network's going, well we know we can get more ad revenue on a Friday night. Because people are in watching TV.
I don't know. That's the one that's on a different network in it. I don't know. I'm sure the ones who own PCOC at NBC.
Yeah. Oh Raw NXT, well not SmackDown. Oh. So I think it's SmackDown still Fox.
I don't know. But yeah. So I think SmackDown is the different, the one that's on a different show. And it might be a bit of that because that's the only WWE property they've got so they can advertise that a little bit better.
It's definitely Roman Reigns. If you move Roman Reigns a Monday night, it would probably just flip. Yeah. And it's just a bit of everything.
You know, there's different creative that's involved. And I know Vince is, you know, I saw an article this morning that Vince is still changing his WrestleMania plans. And what, you know, month away, if that. You've changed it on fucking day.
Oh yeah. No, it's like, oh, fuck it. Let's go with this instead. Yeah.
Whatever. Whatever. But yeah. Hello everyone.
Welcome. Once again. One three nine is the show number. Hope you're all well.
Hope you got, hope you've got through that three hour, forty minute marathon. I can't believe we were in that long. No wonder I couldn't stand up from the chair. We were feeling like it was a dead quick one.
We were like, oh, that was kind of thing. And we never know because I've got the, because we record this on GarageBand. I've got the thing set up. So it just gives it just counts the beats.
So I never have a time at all. There's never a time of that until it kind of uploads to Apple Music. I'm like, oh shit. Fucking hell.
And that's always a big shock. It's always hot. It's always hot. It's absolutely legit.
Well, yeah, fucking hell. But yeah, we'll go as long as we need to, basically. And so we get it properly fed up. I normally do get fed up about two hour mark, but I'm not fed up of the conversation.
Just like, I'm sick of hearing you now. You should have known. Well, yeah. I'm not joking, obviously.
But yeah, my back's out. I'll take a little bit from this fucking chair. I've run out of things to say it's eleven o'clock. I've got work the next day and I'm just like, I need to go a bed type thing.
But yeah, with that one. It's probably because it's like, we're so up for, because I worked yesterday. So it wasn't like Friday night. We've got the weekend to look forward to.
It's like I was fucking working on the Saturday. Yeah, yeah. It was alright there actually. First because it came by.
But yeah, Christ. I just didn't go fucking. And I think that goes into how excited I am for tonight. And I was, you know, on Saturday morning, I was kind of like, Holy shit, this weekend is going to be mental.
There's the UFC tonight, which I've watched already this morning. What a letdown that was. Well, I should really say that because it's not really fair, you know, getting in there and I forget. Did you see that stuff though?
About Nunez's Win Street is a longer than Wanda Rouse's entire career. I'm not. I don't know if UFC, you must be UFC, but it can't be like it. That's right for us and yeah, but I thought that was quite interesting.
Well, Tony Carr wants to shake up that women's division. Absolutely. She'd be an absolute beast. That'd be great.
Say Jay Carr gets a couple of wins on the belt. And I'm talking, I'm not talking dark or dark elevation or whatever. She's on Dynamite. She's squashed a few people.
And then Nunez comes out and then that's your fight. And you give him a mumph. You say, like you're here every day. Daniel I, it's absolutely said fine.
Yep, perfect. You're here every day and you gotta do an hour a day. Both of you, you're just gonna be in the ring together for an hour so you know each other back to front. Cody, Omega, Serena, Deeb, Thunder Rosa, they're all there putting it together and you're gonna put together this much, that would be.
That would be amazing. Absolutely amazing. So let's get on with it, shall we? So let's go through some news.
So WWE, now apparently, according to all praise B to the most high-daddy filter. We can only aspire to be dead. We can only aspire to be chauvinistic. I mean, I can't, all transparency, like I love Ryan Alvarez now.
Yeah, you do, you really do. You're having a deep and passionate love affair with Ryan Alvarez at the moment. He just says what I think every time. Yeah, he's definitely worth a listen if anybody hasn't.
I'm sure he'll have. Yeah, the rest of the time of the live daily's have been getting me through. I've been having a good gigal at them. But it all came from Axel Jamo, tagging us into the rant he did about the legends night and how shit that was.
I didn't even listen to that properly. Oh my God, I need to go back and find that episode and just properly listen to it. Well, Jesus Christ, he absolutely cained him. But he canes him all the time.
He's massively into A.W.I.B. So I'm new to Pat. So, you know, it's come together a good time, Ryan. But yeah, so like WWE now, apparently, according to them guys, in Gorilla.
So whether or not they've sent out an email to the talent, whether or not, you know, there's a talent work mailing list or something like that, apparently now, they've got a sign that says, when you go in for a kick, you cannot slap your leg. I mean, what the fuck? It's so weird. What a strange thing.
So like they were saying, like, so if Sean Michaels turns up on Raw, one of the way he works with NXT, so that's a possibility, you're telling me that Sean Michaels can't slap his leg when he super kicks somebody. Like, what the fuck? Well, where's this come from? Like, what has been the catalyst of this?
Because I know that I've been seeing for a while people talking about like, too much like slapping in A.W. and stuff like that. I've seen that tweet occasionally. But I can understand, well, no, I don't understand.
What I kind of like, because the whole like flipping about and flippy, flippy, flippy stuff. I get why they sometimes, they want to curb that because it gets a bit too much like too quick and Vince, you know, I'm talking when I say I understand. I understand WWE wanting less of that and more deliberate, slow wrestling. That is shit.
But the leg slapping, like you say, because it has been happening forever. It's just what everybody does. It's just like, it's like one of the first things you look, you think about when you think about kids in like, I remember like the lads in the playground, that'd be the only thing they do to each other. That's trying to fucking choke slamming each other.
It's one of the slimes of the ridiculous. But like, I just don't understand what the catalyst, why now, why this? I don't see no abundance of it on WWE. So I don't really understand what the problem is.
Apparently, somebody did it where it was so obvious that you could properly see on the camera that they were slapping their own leg when they were kicking somebody. And this is according to the testimony thing that I listened to before. The problem with this is, like I said, it's a natural kind of thing. You know, if this is what you've been learning, you're not gonna not just stop doing it.
You're not gonna stop doing it. I can't get my head around it at all. Like why they would go to that extreme support per sign saying, if you kick into just support per sign, it's like fucking some kind of monster. Without that psychologist who's walking around putting signs up, like, you know, why not say to the person who is angidure?
That was so obvious you need to get better at that. Because there's loads of things that are fucking really obvious. But don't you think though, I keep smacking things in this table. I'm really sorry, I've got a cup of green tea and I keep hitting the table with it.
I just, the thigh slapping thing isn't the problem. The lesson is learn your cameras and learn your angles. That's the lesson to the talent. It isn't, oh, you're making that look really, really shit.
It's like, learn where the fucking camera is and don't make it so clear that we can see you slapping your leg. And to the camera people, watch out. That's the lesson. The lesson isn't stop slapping your fucking legs.
It sounds tough. Like it really does. It still has an effect on me. I still go, oh.
I know it's like in the leg, but it sounds really. Right, it's great. But it's like the leg slap isn't the issue. The angle is the issue and the camera awareness.
So if it's one person, if it's a few, it's like, right, we need to have a master class on camera awareness. So we can hide all these tricks that we do. Like the whispering to each other, like moves and stuff. Be more aware of the fucking cameras.
Not let's completely change what all these wrestling moves has been done for fucking years. That isn't the problem. Because there's loads of scenarios where that mentality is to think punches, how do they get the sound of the punch? They stomp on the floor.
When they hit the punch, they jump in the air and they land it and they stamp the feet down. So you get that bang. That's been going on for ages. Stamping on somebody in the corner.
The other leg is stamping down as well. So that the noise, there's loads of things that go on with that. Like calling spots, for example, they have to do it. Like unless like you said on the other show, they're rehearsing something within an inch of his life, which they should be doing for a paper view anyway.
And they probably do it. That's why most of the time the paper do matches are a lot better than Raw and Smackdown and all that kind of stuff. And Dynamite is disagreeing. But if you're going to go to that level, we're calling spots it worse.
Because the amount of times that you start watching something, and again, I've not watched WWE for ages properly. Royal Rumble was the last thing that I genuinely sat and watched without just watching a highlight or something like that. But when like John Cena, like fuck me, like John Cena might as well by night. It was so funny.
It's like you've got to go, Bray. You've got to go DDT? Yeah. OK, let's go.
It's like fucking Al John. I've missed those days now. I hated them, but I missed them so much. No, yeah.
John Cena, like basically, he's really shopping without, you know, it's like, like what was going on? You do such a great John Cena though. What he's calling spots. Yeah, he just makes sense.
I can't remember what was there. It's always that kind of OK. OK, buddy. OK, buddy DDT.
Yep. Ref, Ref, are you on this? DDT? Yeah, we're going to do a two count.
Go. Fucking hell, Cena. So funny. I mean, you really was though, because I never noticed it.
You always go, oh, bloody, are they? They did that a bit loud. I'm like, oh, I missed that. What's the scene?
You could just, you could just hear me low, is the low tone just chatting the whole way through it. But what they did, there was a change. And I don't know around where, like, when the change was, but they started miking the ring up so that you heard like the slums more. And this might be why, you know, I mean, the slapping leg with the kick thing is ridiculous.
But this might be why if they want to change up how they do things, if they want to go to a little bit more, so it looks a bit more like a real fight. Because that, you know, there's an argument for that maybe, who knows? I mean, you know, fucking pointless submissions. I know that they're for rest, but, you know, the level of problems that they have, you know, for somebody to put a sign up saying, don't slap your leg, you know, you're looking at them in the wrong areas.
Like maybe before you say, don't slap your leg, you go, let's create a good coherent story. You know, let's create a few moments. You know, that should be at the forefront of Vince's head. It shouldn't be whether or not some guy slaps his leg so obviously that we saw it on the camera.
You know, that's not, you know, the list of issues that these consigotties, you know, it's not even, it doesn't even make the list. There isn't enough paper in the world to get to get to the very bottom, slap your leg. But yeah, I just don't understand the thought process with it at all. And yeah, you know, I agree with the, to some level of the, you know, the AW detractors, that is all spot-festy, it's all, it's all slapping the legs or and made the joke, but then on TV did a really obvious thigh slap.
That was a middle finger, so all that kind of stuff, single chest. But like, yeah, I can't get me around it. I can't get my fucking head around why they would go to that. It's so petty and so strange.
You know what, it just smacks of Vince McMahon in a mood. Like those things, that's all I think of. You know, forgive the expression, it has knee-jerk reactions to everything. And it's so extreme, it's so silly.
You know, sending somebody back to the performance center because they don't like how athletic they are for a big bloke. So they can become slower. It's classic Vince. It's classic Vince.
He just reacts. And that was a really interesting thing, actually, I was listening to a podcast the other day that sums up Vince McMahon actually. And it wasn't often to do with Vince McMahon, but it's similar to how I act in certain situations. And it's like you can either, in the face of something, you can either react or you can respond.
And so respond takes thought, going back, thinking about it and going, okay, here's now my response. Reaction is, you know, like if someone sends you an email and it pisses you off, you type straight back. And then a bit later you're like, don't worry, I wish I would have thought about that a bit more because actually it's not that big a deal. He's a reactor.
There are two types of people. He is that reaction. He reacts everything. And that's why he changes things on the fly because he doesn't have the ability to think things through and respond in a really measured way.
Whereas that, I think if I'm gonna be really assuming I know these people, which is why I'm doing him and Tony Khan are reacting and response. You know, they are response. Like, you know that everything, there's nothing knee jerk about anything that happens on AWV. It's so meticulously thought out, maybe to its own detriment one day, you know, I don't know, but like it's very meticulously thought out.
And though that is the difference, and that no slapping your fucking leg is a fucking angry reaction to something. And without thinking through the implications of it, how stupid it is, how much extra energy it's gonna take for all the wrestlers who are gonna be on pins when they do that naturally, not thought about any of it at all. It just pisses me off. It's fucking stupid.
It's a stupidest thing. For all the issues that the VW have got, you know, the whirlwind of shit that they've brought upon themselves in the last 12 months with lame people have joined a pandemic when they're, where their profits, when their profits are record level high profits. And you know, and you can say the reason why the record level high profits is because they've released people, but the level that they've released people doesn't equal the profits. It's still miles under it.
It's still be a very profitable company if they've not let go all these people, which they're gonna have to hire back at some point when things kind of go back to normal. Yeah, this is very low down on the list of shit that needs to be done, in my opinion. Any more for anyone like that? Yeah, no.
Next, the shack fallout from the table bump. Yeah, get some Miami Heat's twist. So shack played for the Heat, so I don't really quite understand it. But Miami Heat uses the shack table bump to celebrate a win.
So on there, and it looks like it's like an Instagram post or something like that. But whenever, you know, if you see the basketball game, which I'm sure you have, whenever a team wins, they're at home, there's a little graphic that comes up like Celtic, Celtic's win or whatever like that. They put the Miami Heat logo on Cody's head and he just like jumps over the thing. But there's been so much light.
I mean, apart from the shitty sports center, I don't know if it would be logo over the top of it. There's been loads of media coverage of that. Yeah, I'm not surprised. Which has been awesome.
I do like it when it does this sort of thing. It's one of the first story, I thought, oh shit, is it like, you know, the players like messing around and, well, no, it's like a fully clipped, but that's just what Miami Heat's head on, Cody's head, brilliant. That was really fucking brilliant. Right, update on the surprise staff for AEW.
Is it Christian? Is it Pat McAfee? Is it Bali Ray? Is it Kurt Angle?
It may be Christian. It's looking more and more like this to be Christian, isn't it? I think. Thinking about everything that we've, since the last podcast, because obviously we've gone down the rabbit hole and we've remained down it for the last 24 hours, the more that you find out.
So obviously, Christian isn't under contract with WWE, he had a Fox contract, he's not got any, he's a free agent essentially. Toby Kahn's comments about him being a fan of this person for years and years, for a long, long time. That to me takes Brock Lesnar out. It doesn't, but I just feel like Christian lends itself more to a childhood Tony Kahn, or a adolescent Tony Kahn being a fan, because that was when he was at his and Brock Lesnar weren't about them.
No. So I am now starting to think it's Christian. So Pat McAfee, Bali Ray and Kurt Angle have all posted teasers, which means it's none of them, because you wouldn't. You would do what I see in punk's doing and you would say it's not you.
No, it's not a punk about it. The problem they've got with this is they've built it up now to the point where if it's not a punk's, if it's not Brock Lesnar, they're gonna get a shit on. Everyone is so dismissive of, exactly how I think we would be, had we not had Paul, the merch has gone, which was all vinyl stuff. Like, we would be saying the same thing as everybody else, which is the complete shutdown of there is no way on this planet it's Brock Lesnar, because Vince would never let him go, never.
And everyone just dismisses it. Like it's not even a conversation for a lot of people. It's like, it is like the undertaker thing, like we were saying, it's like the undertaker is not gonna go anywhere else, because Vince is too tied to that person. I'm not as convinced by that still.
No, I'm not either. And the big reason is why is he's done it before? Yeah. It's gone to New Japan.
Yeah, I know. So I am starting to think it's Christian. Yeah. And I'm disappointed, Andy.
See what I think is, is I think Christian also open the ladder match. Okay. That's who I think they've got for the ladder match. There is no way, and he'll win the ladder match, and he'll get a shot at Dabiela for the CNC title.
But there's no way they can bring Christian out, because one, it's like, you know, I am a fan of Christian. Christian at his height for me was Captain Charisma, CNA, CNA World Champion. You know, he was doing great stuff. Obviously, that his height really is edge of Christian.
You know, the ladder matches and the TLC and all that kind of stuff. I do really like Christian. I think Christian would be a great addition to the AW roster to some degree from a personal standpoint, from a business standpoint. And I know there was the whole thing where like edge, you know, it's been on WWE TV and the end drawing.
But the one time the announced Christian was going to have a match, they got like 200 k boost and all this kind of shit. Yeah. You know, looking to that what you will. But do I think AW needs a Christian?
Absolutely not. They don't need to sign anymore people. That I'm somebody who they can build themselves. Because the thing is, is Christian was supposed to be retired.
So how many matches is he actually going to have? So if he's if he comes in and just like is there for a couple of months and then goes away again, what does that do? Because Christian isn't going to lose, in my opinion, other than for a title. So unless Christian just is on elevation and they're just going, right, well, you know, you're going to be on a big show, I was going to announce him.
There's going to be an elevation title or something like that. Yeah, that's, see, that's where I was going with the whole like big show announcing it. Yeah. And that's that then made me lean away from Brock Lesnar.
Because I don't know why you would get a big show to come out and say that. It's going to be a brand new show. They need to kind of drum up a bit of excitement about it. So then it makes sense the person he announces is going to be on that show as a mainstay of that show.
Yeah. And I still think the person big show is going to announce his Joey Styles. Right. I still think it's going to be Joey Styles.
I don't think Maro Renee will do it because I think he's done the wrestling now. Yeah. Like he could have stayed. No, I don't blame him either.
He could have stayed in NXT and NXT, you know, is not bigger than AW is. But it's still a pretty decent platform. You know, the crowd chatting Mamma Mia and all this kind of stuff. He was definitely like a really great part of that show.
And they do miss him. Like they do miss Maro and Ella in my opinion. I agree. On that.
But I don't think it's going to be him. I would be pleasantly surprised if it was him. But I think that somebody of Maro and Ella's stature, you don't throw him in on a dark. You throw him in on Dynamite.
He is the JR role on Dynamite and you're not getting rid of JR anytime soon. I think JR will have a gentleman's agreement to the point where he, when he wants to step down, that's when they'll replace him. Well, Joey Styles hasn't done commentary to my knowledge since he did the WWE shit. You know, he was for a very long time, a part of www.com.
Like head, he was like, not a head, but like he was quite high up within WWE.coms, like things. So he was doing all the articles and stuff like that. So he's not done commentary for a very long time. So this would be a perfect way for Joey Styles to get back into commentating.
Now, I think that's a big show to announce, but then somebody else is going to come out after him. Yeah. And sign their big contract or whatever. You know, he's just going to announce Joey Styles, but then they'll say, oh, but this isn't the person who signed the multi-ideal, it's this guy and then they'll come out.
But yeah, Christian for me would be perfect for the ladder match if he comes out as the main person that they're talking about, because if I hype this shit up to the point where it's like, Well, yeah, this is what we were saying earlier, that it's such a great move to do something like this pre-show. Because it gets everybody's talking. That's all everyone can talk about. And there's an exploding barbed wire match up.
Yeah, exactly. And that's all people can talk about. Who is this person who they're going to announce? Who is it?
It's great up until the show. And then it's really bad for whoever comes out because they are always going to disappoint. And they're always going to get a load of shit for it. And if it's not like you said, it's not somebody huge, like they made this massive deal about this.
This is someone huge. And Christian is a big deal, but he's not that big a deal. Like I said to you, I associate him as the other guy from some pretty decent tactics. And I know like I never saw his TNA stuff.
I got no idea. But like he was just always the only one, like the less interesting other one. So and he's a nice man and he's great. And I'm sure he would fit in really well there is, you know, he's he's a cool person.
But I just think that it I could say genius marketing tool, but then it's really bad for the person who debuts. I'm sure that they wouldn't be particularly excited right now if I wouldn't be. I'd be like fucking hell, I know that I'm not brought Lesnar and I'm not. You've seen some of the names get banded around.
You'd be like, Oh shit. When I come on, I'm going to be completely everyone's going to talk about how fucking disappointed they are to see me. Whereas if they hadn't have hyped me up, I might have had it like a really, it would have been a really cool moment. Maybe like Sting.
Yeah, it could have been a great moment where everyone was really at place to see me now. People so excited to see somebody else that I can only disappoint them. And that's the thing because if it was Sting, I think they would get away with it. Yeah, I do actually.
Because I don't think anyone would have expected Sting because he was retired. So like, I think they would have got away with Sting. Yeah. Whereas there's nobody else I can think of.
Like, if you're thinking like all the names that have been banded around, like seeing Paul, as a Christian, Kurt Angle, Pat McAvie, you know, the book, same Pat McAvie, he's had one decent match on it, you know, which over delivered against Adam Cole, he's talking Hall of Fame worthy talent in the rest of it, please. Like, you know, bully Ray, I can kind of see it, but it's still to me, the same level as Christian. I think bully Ray is a big deal than Christian in my own head because I've seen him do his singles run for his DNA. I've seen a lot of good things that he can do, but he's got his own podcasts.
You know, there's loads of things that he's doing that's just not. And Kurt Angle obviously has no business being interested in anymore because his neck is now fused to his head. Like, there's no business whatsoever, less business than Sting. And everyone's going about like, you know, how dangerous the power bomb was to sting, even though it was hit perfectly.
And he was fine. You know, people are like, oh, we don't want to see Sting getting a power bomb. It's like Kurt Angle can't shouldn't take a headlock takeover. No, like he should not be doing anything.
So, you know, I've seen a few people saying X-Pac, that is not a big enough sign. No, it's not. And he's already in the hall of fame, so it's not X-Pac because DX went in. So if it was somebody that nobody's thought about, then that would be interesting.
But it just, I just can't say it in my own head. I can't see because whoever it is, it's not going to change my opinion of AEW. It's not going to change. I'm not going to instantly say, Oh, fuck you guys.
You know, you've taught 15 pound of my money. Sorry, Americans, but it has cost me like 14 pounds something to get it on fight TV. I'm not going to be that pissed off if it's not like a Brock Lesnar or a Sea of Bunk. Well, they're the only two level of that level talent that you know, that thing will get away with it.
Because the problem is the real problem they've got is what comes on after that. Because what will happen is they'll do the announcement. And if it's good, everybody will be really positive, but they'll still be watching the show. If it's negative, people will go to Twitter to respond and then be talking to each other.
So whatever match he's on after that, nobody's going to see it. So what's going to go on after this announcement? Yeah, because they can't leave it till the end of the show for reasons. We'll talk about in a second because it's going to be fucking mayhem.
You know, so they've got to do it either at the start or how we do it at the start. Get a picture out straight away, straight after the buy in on the buy in show. Big show comes out and he's like, right, we're going to pay for you now. See in a minute and but big shows coming out joining the buy in.
That's the way I'll do it. Get it out of the way straight away and then put on fucking unfortunately for them. Because we know what the first match of the cards going to be and it's attacking titles. It's Young Bucks versus because I watched the the the AEW podcast and talking to Tony Khan.
I think they did run through it in order. But I kind of zoned out and I was doing other things at the same time. So, but yeah, I think it's starting with Young Bucks versus Jericho and Jeff. So do it just before that and then get them on.
Yeah, do you mean it's one minute? But yeah, it's tough. I think they've backed themselves into a bit of a corner here. But on that podcast, Tony Khan says, trust me, it's massive.
And up to now, I know, I know he's not, you know, they're not perfect. There's been a few things that haven't. Haven't quite hit, but if this doesn't hit, I think it's more detrimental. If they say it's Christian, then, you know, Christian's just been on WWE TV.
You know, it's not really been used well for a long time. It's really weird because what on what planet if you if you were you ran AW, your it's Andy James's family's money and you're running it in your show and you're the one on the podcast, what do you describe Christian in those terms? I just don't I just don't think as someone who's that ingrained in wrestling as he is and that big of a fan. I think even if he was your very, very favorite, I just I find it really weird that to describe him in such a manner of being that big as a thing.
Yeah, because I just doesn't fit. No, the problem with it is everything Big Show has said on Dynamite is technically true. So he's a big name. He's a future Hall of Famer.
You know, all those things are true about Christian. However, he isn't your headline in Hall of Famer, Asia, Godfather or, you know, when he bought Coco B. Where in there, you know, I'm not saying that Christian's anywhere as bad as Coco B. But, you know, he's not he's Christian would not be.
Is that the DDP slot? Yeah, that's perfect. That's perfect. The DDP slot is not the Kurt Angles lot.
No. And arguably, you know, Kurt Angles is a huge deal. But I don't want to see Kurt Angles wrestling ever again. He's next foot.
It will what I would put money on it not being Kurt Angles. Yeah, well, if he's doing teasers, it's not him. Because anybody doing it easier is not him. But yeah, I don't know.
I don't know either. I really, really don't. I just have to wait and wait and see. It's got, I'm excited for it, but I am worried.
Me too. I'm nervous. I think nervous is the right way of putting it for me. I'm just I've got because I have got high expectations.
And that's Tony Khan's fault. It's not what the Big Show said because the Big Show, it was so ambiguous because of like Hall of Fame movie and I was thinking about. He still has a huge star in the wrestling world. What Tony Khan's like comments afterwards have made it worse.
They've made it so much worse. The hype is seriously real on this. Like it's it's just I'm nervous. I'm excited because it is.
And I know I said it before my birthday at midnight tonight. This is my birthday present to myself. I'm like buying yourself a bottle of champagne, crack it open at midnight and sit and drink champagne like I'm in absolute fabulous. Get dressed up with your pearls on.
Put your pearls on. Christ, what year for me? Speaking of mayhem, the reason why they can't do it after the main event. Omega is tweeted to explain the rules of the exploding death match, barbed by death match.
So three sides of the ring will be covered in barbed wire. Why three? And not four. He'd have thought about it.
Well, three sides of the ring will be covered in barbed wire. Contact with the barbed wire will trigger an explosive on the corresponding side. That's it. On the floor, there'll be what Omega calls triple hell.
So three three zones on the floor that are wired with explosives. Now, something I didn't know but apparently was a very well known thing from the announcement of this. But again, I don't look at anything anymore. So the fact that I have done, if I was watching it tonight and I was lagging a little bit and they came on and said there will also be a 30 minute countdown timer.
And at the end of the timer, all of the explosives in and around the ring will detonate. Oh, I've watched 30 seconds before. 30 minutes. All right, every 30 seconds, which is a bit boom.
It's like metallic as long. It's supposed to be like this is going to be. Everybody's dead in the ring and have fielders walks up. Do do do.
Oh, great. It's looking absolutely retarded. So stupid. It's ridiculous.
This is kind of what we said, though, because we said, Moxie's going to be taking a bit of time out. You know, obviously he's got a baby on the way. Can well, well, can well do the WWE H.R. Enforced rule of you can only have two weeks.
Moxie will be able to take as much time as he wants to. So at that 30 minute timer is Moxie going to go into something and it's just going to blow up and then we're not going to see him for three months. I love the idea of like them looking like he's just like going to boom the whole thing. They look like they're dead in the ring.
And that's when the big show comes out to an officer person. He's like no one's ass is like dead bodies. Moxie's being like dragged out on a gurney. He's doing everyone.
He's like, oh my God. Everyone's dead. The rest dead. The gun club are dead because they're at the side of the ring.
Yeah. So going on what will I have going off the air tonight is somebody. Moxie is going to be dead. It's going to go into something.
Yeah. So don't even know, you know, he said the rules. But how do you win? Like, is it pinfall?
Is it submission? Is it still the same sort of thing? No thought about that. It doesn't matter.
We know it's going to be up alone. Yeah. It's going to be a long time. It's going to be a well, it's for a match.
It's for the length of a match from Bell to Bell. So it's like the main event is going to be like 45 minutes long. So you're going off the intro, you're going to have the entrances and then you're going to have a 30 minute match. So there's a lot that's going to be going on in this.
But I don't think it's going to have a finish. I think a make you know, after 30 minutes, it's going to blow up and then it'd be a pinfall situation still after that. But I think they're going to do something to the point where you guess for 30 minutes, Omega like knocks Moxie into something where he physically goes into it. Yeah.
Yeah. And you don't see him and then the whole holds just explodes. Nia Jax's whole just looks. Oh my good God.
Honestly, it's just so ridiculous. It's absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure it will be fairly entertaining. And then they'll do like a count out or something like that and make it a rule.
But that's the way that you can get Moxie out for a couple months. So we can go and look after his kid. Agree. 30 minute count on time.
I need to stand up. Back to like seizing up. Stand up. Stretch.
Because I'm going to need to be 100% for this next bit. Yes, please. Right. I wonder if this this trip person on a W.
Well, we got what we're still saying. Yeah, no, no, it's the only thing I thought about for the last like since they said it. Since it's Wednesday. Yeah.
Since Thursday when we watch it, I can't stop thinking about it. I started having like a nightmare that it was going to be like someone who just just did loads of music for WWE like Kid Rock for Ryder. We're rocking all of my favorites like Buddy Guy, or it's a win biscuit. Oh, geez.
God Almighty. You don't think it could be came to you? No, I don't see it. I don't see it.
It's been there. That sucks so much dick. I can't even say I'd be so upset if it was came because I guess it's disappointed when came comes out to WWE because I'm just like it's over now. It was cool back in the day.
But I've seen your face. Well, this is this is the thing. So like nobody would be so disrespectful to say like Kane is shit. Well, I just did.
But no, but in the context of this because they've built it all because they've gone back to this. I can't because you stood up and I had nothing else to say about this. Bloody bad by much. I can't move to the next point because then each year you need me here for this next.
Now you're back. So let's. OK. Now we're going to watch how we talk about this.
I know it's really, really sensitive. But from a pure entertainment point of view, it has been entertaining, but holy shit. So Apollo Cruz is embracing his Nigerian heritage. Cruz said that the fans don't actually know anything about him.
And Cruz said that he's been nice, humble and respectful for far too long without getting the same respect. Cruz said that it's unacceptable given that his ancestors are Nigerian royalty. Cruz noted that his great grandfather said that if your enemies defy you, you show them the steel. It's certainly got a response from the W.
Universe feedback online ranges from allegations of racism to excitement for representation to jokes about Vince McMahon finally seeing Black Panther and everything between now. We've seen about seven minutes this. I can't believe I made it through that. And well, because originally, so again, actual J-MOTD, we, you know, I was like, what can I thought he was joking?
I literally thought I was like, I was like, what, what you want about? He's the guy that sent you emails, I've seen feedback account, like what? You know, what you want about? And then I watched it and I lasted three seconds.
I was like, no, no, I can't. I can't do this, right? So I'll go first and then you can go after. OK, that's right.
Right. So from a pure like business point of view, let's say, Apollo Cruz got the win against Shinsuke after baby in this, I think. I can't say that he's racist because I'm white. So I don't know what's offensive to Nigerians or anything like that.
However, to me, I do think it's a bit overkill. I think his accent is terrible. You might have Nigerian ancestry and you might legit be from because obviously, your nation was his his his indeed wrestling name. So, you know, on that side, I don't think they would do like a Kofi Kingston, where they pretend somebody's from somewhere.
So he's obviously really got Nigerian heritage. However, the accent is awful and it's massively overkill. And to somebody who won't go and Google him and look into it and actually see that he has got Nigerian heritage, I could see that as being racist. Somebody put his voice on because the accent's terrible.
It's awful. Now, that side, the green and white looks cool. The accent for me, if they want to do it, fine. That's up to them.
Is he going to be a heel now? Brilliant. Absolutely. The two major issues I've got with this is why is he got a fucking spear and why has he got to militia stood behind him that look like they're about to train some eight-year-olds how to fire a submachine gun?
Why is it gone that far? It's fucking stupid. I've got like even if, right? I'm trying to think of a way that bales him out of this.
I can't think of anything. It's so bad. Yeah. It's so bad.
