139. The Surefire Way to be Successful

from The Code: A Guide to Health and Human Performance · host Dr. Andrew Fix

“There’s no better feeling than being around people who motivate you to be better,” says Dr. Andrew Fix. This week, he talks about how motivation, accountability, and community play a huge role in both personal and professional growth. Speaking from the Dallas Cowboys training facility, Dr. Fix reflects on a business coaching conference he attended with fellow physical therapists, pointing out how being around people who share your drive can push you to step up your game. What kind of community challenges you to grow?   To build momentum and a sense of accomplishment for the rest of the day, Dr. Fix also suggests “eating the frog”—tackling your hardest tasks first thing in the morning. His advice: look for communities that will push you to reach your goals and hold you accountable.   Quotes “I really enjoy the feeling, as I know many of you probably do too, of having something to work towards, something to chase, and something to motivate you to get up and out of bed every day and move forward. There’s no better feeling than being around people who motivate you to be better.” (02:37 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “I want other people that are there that I’m emulating, I’m looking up to, I’m trying to achieve the things that they’ve achieved and soak up like a sponge as much information and knowledge and learning as I can.” (02:59 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “You may have heard that phrase, ‘eat the frog.’ Like, eat the frog first thing in the morning, get the hardest thing done. It really starts a domino effect or a snowball effect in a positive way for the rest of your day. It really helps you from a motivation standpoint, from a mindset standpoint.” (04:00 | Dr. Andrew Fix) “Remember to put yourself around people that hold you accountable to the things you said you wanted to do, to the things you said you were going to do. Whether that’s at work, in your personal life, or in fitness, get around a group of people that will motivate you to get up, do it, lace your shoes up, or roll your sleeves up at work, and get the things done that you said you were going to do, and hold you accountable.” (06:12 | Dr. Andrew Fix)    Links https://www.forbes.com/sites/jennifercohen/2018/12/04/surrounding-yourself-with-the-right-people-changes-everything/   SideKick Tool: https://bit.ly/4a6CqJS   Movemate:
