Talofa, Ma’lele’i, Bula and welcome to Season 05 Episode 13 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on a beautiful Friday morning 14 April 2023.Coming to you from paradise, on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In rugby union: Tension is building as the Fiji Rugby Union counts down to its Annual General Meeting on Saturday 29 April between two emerging camps – the pro-Frank Bainimarama as FRU President camp on one side and the pro-Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka camp on the other side, led by the biggest provincial rugby union, Suva.In rugby league: The Dolphins took a 14-6 lead going into the break – but their joy ended there. The Rabbitohs scored three tries in the 10 minutes Kenny Bromwich was yellow-carded off the field at Suncorp Stadium last night, adding to their 30 unanswered second half points to secure a 36-14 win.Talk about a game of two halves.OK Souths fans so we got that first game wrong, but our world famous tips for Round 7 from tonight, the Sharks to roast the Roosters, the Storm to macaroni Manly, NZ Warriors to curry the Cowboys, the Panthers to kebab the Knights, and Gold Coast Titans to Bar-B-Q the Broncos – that could be another one we get wrong. In football: Fans who have bought the most expensive tickets for the FIFA Women’s World Cup starting in July in Australia and New Zealand, are angry after their tickets place them as high as the very back row at the very top of the main stadium in Sydney, Australia from where the players look like ants.In SportsBiz: Unlike the NBA — which allows players who will be at least 19 during the draft’s calendar year to enter — the WNBA requires players to be at least 22 or set to graduate from a four-year institution.Salaries for rookie WNBA players are predetermined by their draft position - the top 4 picks receive in US$: $72,141 each in their first year. Picks 5-8 earn $69,224. The final four in the 12-pick first round earn $66,306.All other WNBA players selected in the draft earn between US$60,471 and 63,389.In Boxing: Former UFC Middleweight Champion Alex Pereira is moving up a division, but the 35-year-old Brazilian made it clear it’s not because he can’t make weight at 185 pounds as was suggested by UFC Prez Dana White following his UFC287 loss to Israel Adesanya on Saturday in Miami.Yeah how dare you Dana, Pereira is moving up to 205 pounds Light Heavyweight because it is more suited to his 6-foot-4 frame - get it???For TEIVOVOsports.com I’m Culden Kamea - Mahalo, vinaka and thank you.
