14 Creator Chat with Campbell Whyte, Chris Gooch and Pat Grant

from ALIA Graphic Podcast

This month we're very honoured to have a chat with not one but three amazing Australian creators. Campbell Whyte, Chris Gooch and Pat Grant are all publishing their second big graphic novel with Top Shelf comics this year. We highly recommend all three of them.We talk about their three graphic novels, how they ended up publishing them with an international publisher and not with an Australian publisher; what it's like publishing their work with an international publisher and still holding on to their independent roots; and their relationship with libraries and librarians. They also talk about library events and workshops. Chris talks about a residency he did at the Athenaeum Library in Melbourne and a series of workshops related to Under Earth. Pat talks about the Comic Art Workshops that brought a group of creators together to an island in Tasmania to workshop their graphic novels for two intensive weeks and Campbell talks about workshops they've started in Perth that aim to foster new creators.Chris Gooch's Under Earth and Campbell Whyte's Home Time Book 2 will be published October 2020Pat Grant's The Grot: The Story of the Swamp City Grifters was published June 2020All three books are published by Top Shelf Comics.Websites:Chris GoochCampbell WhytePat GrantThanks for listening to ALIA Graphic Podcast.
