#14. From Soap Operas to Real-Life Love: The Art of Communication in Long-Term Relationships

What was your idea of partnership and where did it come from? Nobody taught us how to work through a long term marriage All I knew was fairy tales and soap operas. I remember wanting the dream relationship. Yet I didn’t know if it was possible. When two people are together for a long time, we start to discover that we have different emotional scales. And it’s not always smooth sailing. We have to learn and grow and do things different than how we did them when we first met. We all have to adjust and change I believe. I’ve realized it’s about learning to express yourself authentically while keeping our tone and body language and volume of our voice at a level that feels graceful and calming. It’s the only way people can hear us truly.
