14. Thinking out loud about funerals and hip replacements

We start this week with a bit of a laugh about the state of our bodies. I recently went to a funeral, and instead of talking about the footy, every single bloke my age was comparing their upcoming operations. Hips, knees, shoulders — it turns out the body was keeping score the whole time we were playing 80s sport on concrete courts with zero recovery. We were athletes, and now we’re just spare parts.But then, we get real. Funerals have a way of cutting through the noise and making you stop. I talk about the bizarre reality of having your entire life packaged up into a 10-minute slideshow and a eulogy read by a celebrant who never even met you. It made me ask a tough question: What does your slideshow look like?
