“It’s a game of constant adaptation and whoever does that faster usually ends up on top.” - Jack Carr(click to tweet)  Everyone has a unique life story. But very few of us actually take the time to tell it. Instead, we go to our jobs and rise in our careers without writing that book that we’ve always dreamt of in the backs of our heads. On today’s episode of the Life Uncharted Podcast, we are joined by author and Navy SEAL—Jack Carr. Jack led special operations teams as a Team Leader, Platoon Commander, Troop Commander and Task Unit Commander. Over his 20a years in Naval Special Warfare he transitioned from an enlisted SEAL sniper specializing in communications and intelligence, to a junior officer leading assault and sniper teams in Iraq and Afghanistan, to a platoon commander practicing counterinsurgency in the southern Philippines, to commanding a Special Operations Task Unit in the most Iranian influenced section of southern Iraq throughout the tumultuous drawdown of U.S. Forces. You can learn more about Jack Carr here and order The Terminal List here“Looking back, BUD/S is one of the easiest things you do on the SEALs teams. Your responsibility is to show up at the right time, at the right place, with the right gear, and not quit. That’s it.” - Jack Carr(click to tweet)Points to Keep In MindEvaluate the ‘teamability’ in your prospective collaboratorsIndividual challenges of mental toughness are distinctly easier than the challenges that come with other peopleWhoever adapts faster usually ends up on topToday’s author needs to excel on social media in addition to the quality of his/her writingWhen writing fiction, apply your own emotional experience to the narrativeIn Japanese bushido, a samurai would go into battle already thinking he was deadAccept that news and media outlets choose specific stories, while recognizing there’s more to the story Learn more about your ad choices.
