Earlier this week, it was announced that Carlow based fin-tech company Unum is expanding and creating 50 new IT roles. Having filled 80 roles in 2022, this latest announcement will see Unum expanding its employee base from 200 to 250, and for a second year has been named a Great Place to Work. Our reporter Edwina Grace spoke with Padraig O’Neill, Managing Director & VP of Unum Ireland. Staying on the topic of jobs, John was joined by Aileen McGrath, Acting Head of Enterprise at the Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny & Séamus Doran, Assistant Head of Economic Development & Enterprise with the Local Enterprise Office Carlow to discuss the employment opportunities created by small & medium enterprises across Carlow & Kilkenny in 2022 and also looking ahead to 2023. Samantha McCaughren, Business Editor of the Sunday Independent joined John to chat through some of the business news stories from the week. Climate Action Co-ordinator with Kilkenny County Council, Dearbhala Ledwidge, joined John in studio to discuss climate change, her role as Climate Action Co-ordinator and how businesses can plan and begin to reduce their carbon footprint.
