Dr. Shaw discusses the article How Dry January Can Be a Gateway to Addiction Recovery [1] in light of biblical truth. 2 Peter 1:3-4 "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." ESV [2]  Positives: People getting out of their negative habits by abstaining from alcohol for a month and evaluating themselves for health and wellness. Warnings: When you fast, (and abstaining from alcohol can be considered a form of fast) be sure you pray. Fill that time with prayer, with service to the Lord to draw you closer to HIM during the time that you are trying to make "no provision for the flesh."
