142 - A Pharisee On My Shoulder
from The Quiet Place with Sherri Youngward · host Sherri Youngward
Matthew 12:7 And if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. Do you remember old cartoons or commercials where there would be a little devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other shoulder? Some call that little devil “the critic.” It’s the voice that criticizes everything you do — you aren’t good enough, you don’t pray enough, you don’t read enough, and your clothes are dumb. For me, that condemning voice is more like a Pharisee on my shoulder. The overdressed religious voice of perfection and law — which is completely devoid of God’s heart. In this episode, I will read you the Scripture that silenced that little sucker.
