Also like Randamer and the rope's super loose and there's fuck all going on. The commentators are selling it like it's actually coming out in a beer truck. It was quite funny. It was very South Pole.
So it was incredibly South Pole regional wrestling. So maybe, maybe. We'll test the water. We'll see how it goes.
The reason why I want to go back a little bit further than what we've done tonight is because most of that kind of 2000s to 2015, you could say retro type stuff. I've kind of seen it. But not seen it for a long time. And it is like watching WWE now in some instances.
That's not necessarily a bad thing. But with that WrestleMania 1 being so different and walking past the end of your own so the way to the ring. It was really funny. They tried to build up like hype for the rest of the talk about it and they just walked out and just walked out and just walked back and back and back and back and back.

I know if I say to that well I like it just it just seems like such a shit spot for a hard camp facing a race It's such a big amount of like camera real estate on a big set stairs where you see in people visibly leaving through your matches I've got a note about that later.
I just find it really poor It's like I'm sure there's something that they can do surely something they can do and I don't remember seeing it some places But I'm looking must have been a must have but that was my that's some of my notes for this Yeah, I've not too much of a see this or some of it I've got Michael Cole is all over the fucking place on the show He's calling Brian a submission specialist then a nerd then a not then praising him from getting good reversals But then when he wins, he's like I can't believe he's one I mean it got this is awesome champ as well I remember you know now I can't really remember that much about it But remember it being a lot slicker than the other one I think the other one I've got a lot more notes Maybe that's because it's at worst. Yeah, I think you had a few more safe hands in there Because there was some great great moments of it like when they were all diving out the ring brilliant You know Sin Cara did a few cool things And sort of shaped that entrance is great, but yeah If you're gonna just get your finger and go home, there we are So then it goes to a video package Vince is turns off and he's limo with Johnny Ace and some random Dweeb who looks like a legal guy. Yeah, yeah, well Cole again reminds us how much is on the line later on tonight So I'm getting straight into the Divas titles match there straight from that Oh, just out of much is Brie Bella versus Kelly Kelly The commentators talk shit through the whole entrance and say nothing about really the being a title on the line and as they talk about shit through the Inside fucking match Kelly Kelly dives onto the outside on Bob Brie and Nikki and then she was like a handspring thing where Brie throws a hard down to the outside Which is quite good It started off really well But then a few spots were botched in a row and the crowd were just completely out of it at that point commentary team Not even remotely asked about what's going on and Kelly Kelly retains with some sort of move of butter I can't remember it was like a weird kind of It was really it was wasn't great, but I feel like it's it's such a shame when the yeah I said this one of the things that say is that when do we tell you that they're putting out something shit I'm not even being asked to call the match not even asked to call it can't even literally probably named about like three moves or something And then for the rest of the time, you know, you've got fucking Jerry saying things like more curves than a racetrack in this ring That shit, you know, just going on all other outfits.
Yeah, like oh my god It's just the divas chump and if WWE tell you it's shit and don't give it any respect how the fuck does anyone else respect it? I think the whole divas thing would have got an Iota of more respect if the commentary team would have at the very least for all of their matches Called them properly because then at least you know people have got the audio cues to pay attention and to you know It's coming to the end You know and the volume starts increasing and they start like getting a bit more help about or you know The coming to an end like reach crescendo, you know commentary wise, but it's flat and it's it there's just they're essentially just laughing Taking the piss being pervy all the way through it So it's like well then why would why of course the fans don't give a shit You're telling them not to give a shit So it was their own fault Why the divas were always crap because then if you're one of them you're like what's fucking fine? It's a similar thing It's like you know not much settle kind of thrown together finishes don't make a fucking Iota a sense But they are you went to say do you know and told the ex we got the as cold quoted the battle of the behemoths Mark Henry versus the big show so video package is set this up to looking like absolute beast smart Henry putting a big show through the side of a cage I wish that was the match that we were watching book fair enough Great home with mark Henry's coming out fun taps him on the back and he spins round quicker Then I've ever seen that motherfucker move and this large shit seems like he's nearly nearly on his ass You know my camera spins round like he's like he literally nearly tries to take a fucking back bump over his own chair brilliant brilliant So much starts big show pushes mark Henry towards the steps on the outside It was a quite a lame push what mark Henry Dived over that fucker like he'd been thrown so that was quite funny.
Yeah mark Henry works Then he'll pretty much all the way through the match hits the world's strongest alarm gets to count he gets angry He starts screaming you can't hear the crowd at all they are dead out there actually Talking anything apart from what's happening in the ring. There's a CM Punk chance during the match He gets angry he fucking flips out. He hits the world's strongest line again back to back splashes gets the win after he gets shows Footing the chair that wakes the crowd up. Yeah, there's a second rope splash onto the chair a big show I think that's the most I've seen him sell something In my life.
Yeah, he sold out more than Floyd Mayweather's punch with a pair of brass knocks Well, I do yeah, that's true. They massively outside. They're welcome though, didn't they? It won't even that quickly won't even that long though It felt long because the match felt long and then the bit afterwards felt like oh my guys no one's arse anymore You got an initial bit of a bit of a pick me up.

I look at see you like you saw the bring out a stretcher again Like some car art and bucket instantly goes big showing going on no stretch like that So then literally seconds later you see this like thing we'll just wear out yeah used to carry bits of stage But it was it was very quiet this one I think it was a really odd Decision to put those two matches back to about the divas one in this one I think they could have broken up You know been broken up a bit more because they were quite clearly Pissed break matches for people for different reasons. Yeah, and they both were and then you've kind of got like three in a row that you're supposed to care about later Yeah, it just seemed to be a bit because I thought if I was thinking you know There's gonna be any sleeper matches gonna have to put one on before punk scene I've got you know if I've got any shatters or that like that they're about ten minutes long So I've got to put that on so the crowds are temper and then get excited again, so they'll get exhausted by something Yeah, I mean that's well that's the way to normally do it But I think in this show as a whole and I said well top of a little bit later I do prefer that kind of pace because you do you do get a bit of momentum going to your main event That's a whole point of having you know like a support act You know a decent support act for a band and you get a bit of momentum to go into your room warms the crowd up I've always thought it was super weird out the Like at WrestleMania They have like you know in some cases the cancel it But they have like an undertaking match with the crowd like red hot for and then you throw out like the bellows and What we've seen crowds fatigue to fuck when they've done two in a row when they've just not been able to get it up to the same level Again, they've not been able to keep them momentum at all or their noise and the energy is so they're on such a come down You know such an massive energy dump. Yeah, that you know the main event ends up becoming a bit like me You can see you can see both ways because I think you and I react really well to like something like you know Just steal the phrase before reaching a crescendo and just getting better and better and better it works for us I think sometimes it's just looking down and it can ruin like something that the But all their eggs into some basket and then it the crowd are tired.

So he goes out straight away. He gets a chair He throws it in it's brought on to you to get disqualified straight away But he doesn't he just throws it out they wrestle for a bit That's that's the note that I've got because there's so many counter moves and all that kind of stuff which is fair enough Cole calls it a stalemate which I think is you know why I couldn't pick anything particular out Or blocks the umpritier or the kill switch as they were calling it after a few near falls drop kicks in mid-air Which was quite cool Near-forth Christian when he does a top rope head books a lot of counters going on still Well, then he hits the kill switch again for another near for But don't know why Christian's got blood all these mouth Oh, I didn't know it's that Fuck knows why he's doing that And then the crowd as they start going on and we're getting into the vintage Randy Orton segment of the match crowd are getting more into it the women are cheering louder They're fucking loving it and then Christian the dirty bastard spits writing Orton's mouth Right in his fucking mouth So they give you a replay and there's so many replays or they give you a replay and he just knows and you don't really see anything Right so because you don't see anything They get that's in slow milk.
They give you another replay where they slow it down even more and he hawks in that motherfuckers mouth And that's why or goes fucking ballistic low blows him gets disqualified Christian as your new champion So what loses it destroys Christian But could see start talking about anger management and that's when we get gems a mortal line of Randy calm down From Jerry the King Lola so he goes back y'all karaos and again They can't break this fucking table. They can't break it the crowd of properly into this now And the desperately trying to get him to come back. He's stuck there He's on the ramp I come back for a third time the crowd is super into it, but he doesn't and he fucks off So you only have roundy calm down So you're a down do you know what that I know that I keep saying it and I know that it's a suck record or Christian and Randy or the other bloke to me and to see him both in a match is like I feel like that some show me to do that I feel like it was just too boring. I thought it was okay I thought the you know the counter wrestling was great The story was kind of there. I understood you know more than most matches on this card I understood why I was there I was there because Christian has been kind of screwed out of things what has he or the sayings bitching You know that all kind of stuff I got the spit in the face They don't get disqualified and then the chaos that ensued afterwards. I thought was one of the better matches in the night But not I'm not saying I'm not you know for a second saying that you're you know No, no you are right in terms of the felt like a reason for it Like it did feel like it had more it made sense in the way that the pump cedar one made sense It was definitely the next best match in terms of them planning it of For I do think though they had to come down a fair few runs of putting on putting together a card That was as worthy as that main event which we still talk about yeah So I think like although it was much much much much much You know I'm not on the same level as the main event It was probably the one that made the most sense to go just before it just because of just down to pure effort Absolutely and the auto stuff at the end I thought was pretty good You know he's doing like faces to the crowd the crowd are really into it and they're getting hyped up now because they know that Paul's coming next But yeah, they still whiteed on to come back like there wasn't you know Like you've done you think I'll fuck off bring us in for because you know there is there is obviously an appetite there for all and as this I can anti-hero type characters because autumn's supposed to be the face in this scenario for reasons I can't get me ever ever on to face But then he fucking goes mad flips out and destroys the guy to which your Christian like crawling out crawling out the arena At the end like clutching the belt was great. So again, we get told of the the ramifications of the main event. So here we go WWE Championship match it's CM Punk vs. Cena in punk's hometown the video package again with a few more bits added in It's fantastic great sell-up and here we go It cuts to the crowd this fireburn starts and they lose it absolutely lose it and it's one of the best light entrances as far as You know for a single kind of wrestler, you know, he sat down in the middle ring and they jumps up and they lose it again You know, it was great. Yeah, he properly properly You know you're wrong for you, but like he really milked every moment of it and in the act he knew they were gonna be the part of his hand anyway and Have they had they obviously had to be in Chicago to do it, but had they been anywhere else?
I think the crowd would have been fairly similar. I don't think it would have been hugely different Everybody was you know like so far into that of course because it was done so well, you know when you get this involved You know usually not every time you know when you get this involved It's gonna be pretty good. Yeah, and like you know we say that the anti hero the last one properly was stone cold You know, it's just money It's just pandemonium in it like everybody wants to see someone stick it's events in a great in like a proper way Yeah, and taking the type the prospect of taking the title away and his contract running out It's too tantalizing for any crowd not to get really fucking excited for that I'm out to be behind point because you really want because you've got an unknown unknown there Like what how does that work? Yeah whilst these guys are starting out So obviously that's a pretty fun spot But when we say if you just watch that match in isolation cold to do in his normal thing And he turns face again for this because he wants to see it to win I mean the crowd I mean I think the the memo to Cole was go against what the crowd won Or go I think that was that was his kind of thing is you know whatever the crowd cheerful. Yeah, you're the opposite Yeah, but in this case you've got the super face versus the anti-hero So he turns face again And he's like I want the WWE champion to be in the company and and all that kind of stuff So you know as in the context of the whole show Cole is like all over the fucking place So the crowd start chanting you can't wrestle which is an infamous spot Like you probably all remember punk points to himself at the crowd boo then he points the scene and the crowd cheers And he goes okay So some slick transitions to start with a lot of rest holds and then an outside time bulldogging to a big clothesline from Cena A punk throw see is the outside in front of Colke vanu or Colke vanu chance that's up and drops the knee from the top Props the apron for a near four let's go see the seen a such chance though The let's go see the chant is so high-pitched.

So yeah, so seeing punk john cena July 17 2011 And the next one the next five star match for WWE is Andre al-mas versus gagano lxt take over philadelphia And the one before that pretty sure was Michaels and Undertaker. Yeah, so in your house 18 bad blood sure micha was versus the undertaker october 5th 19 at 97 And the one before that was 997 as well brit heartstone cold russomania the double switch Cool crazy. Yeah, crazy really. Um, okay, so I do agree I think like I've started much of this very enough for me There was one element of it and just one and I'm nitpicking in a big way But it was a sticking point with me.
Okay, and it was a cena thing with this match and it started by when It kind of started it sort of grew and grew and grew from this point When cena came out when he was getting booed and they're kind of like doing the circle in each other, you know, before it really starts I wrote down cena little boy lost look. I was like, why what is that face that he does like what is that face? What he's like, oh, don't be me. I'm seven.
You know like it's such a weird like almost a sulky little sad face about being booed You can find fair enough. Okay, whatever if you do anything and then he had that moment when he was doing He can't see anything and he's not just like short-grid at the crowd, you know, he's kind of like to say Yeah, sorry. I'm about to do this. Yeah He didn't have any fire or anger his psychology was so off.
This is someone who's been threatened to be fired This is someone who holds his title and this company really high regard and he's wrestling someone who is essentially going I'm just gonna take it away and never come back and you're gonna lose your job and you're gonna lose your job And he was so passive and so apologetic and so downtrodden throughout it That it was only when he kind of then did the whole fucking no, we're gonna do this. We're gonna do this the right way at the end That was the only time you ever saw any fire, but it was like where's your anger? Where's your fire? You're your jobs on the line here.

It's like where's your fucking fire? It really annoyed me really pissed me off. It's like this you would not have harmed his super face thing by being fired up to win that But he seemed so downtrodden all the way through it and really passive and hated that I was like that's just so unrealistic to how much of a proud champion you are It doesn't go and he wouldn't have hurt the match or hurt punk I know what he was trying to do was giving punk his moment and he was keeping his head down and sort of being a bit of a You know like an accessory in it almost and he was being led by punk all the way through it You know in terms of like calling spots and all that stuff He wouldn't have done any damage to punking that if anything it would have made it even more wild If he would have matched punk's sort of like attitude and anger It would have made it even better the crowd would have been even more help But he was so forgettable in it like he was just so not asked and it was a character thing It wasn't a John Cena as a human thing because he could tell he was into it It was like that was a deliberate decision and I just thought it was lame And it really took a bit of wind out the sails of the match because I just didn't understand Why someone was looking so keen sad why someone was apologizing potentially winning then somebody comes Obviously, you know the guys in charge of coming to cheat.
It's like no we're gonna do this the right way It's like nothing makes sense You're attitudes off and that was the only thing that I had with it where I would have changed it I would have said to to and both you both fired up And you both just as mad and you both just as pissed off when the other person kicks out You know I've seen I was just doing as usual, you know smiling like oh you know when like punk kicks out it too to the back Really? Like no, you should be fucking fiery Annoyed me so much. Yes, but the contract up and that kind of thing it was John Cena is in enemy territory And we're talking ECW one night stand to See universities RVV and that's the first time That be allowed seen to react to the crowd in a heelish way because obviously the this easy W crowd was nothing of John Cena and I know we had some kids chanting But the Chicago crowd wants book all of him as well So why was he not smiling when he when he hit a move? Why was he not smirking them because if you're looking because we watched as well and the WrestleMania 23 was it where It was punk undertaker and it was it was from 2013. I don't think it was that 27 About that.

It does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity It's like most most parts of it right yeah Cena's attitude and stance spatial expressions everything was so off it just didn't make any sense I've seen Cena get more fired up when he's wrestling someone shit because they've dared to slide off America Yeah, I mean It's like I've seen it more angry about that than potentially losing a job of a company that he loves for all these lovely FOREVER give up.

You've got UFC pulling in like 800,000 buys which is like, you know, probably about 20 million dollars On the ESPN plus at like $60 a pop.
They've completely decimated their pay-per-view market And there are some people who still do it You know like we were kind of saying here people don't maybe in certain parts of the country don't upgrade internet book In order to pay per view through their cable box or something like that Well, they've absolutely decimated the pay-per-view market with the WWE network and they've decimated it even more now Because you're so back in the day even like in the UK like the pay-per-view outside of WrestleMania like 25 pound each and then WrestleMania was 40 pound I remember playing 40 pounds when a couple of mates came over we watched on Virgin Media or wherever the bookie was I had They're essentially giving away WrestleMania for two pound. Yeah, it's a people so they've completely decimated that pay-per-view market because they thought they were gonna get more than 1.1 million subscribers So now you've got peacock buying them for a billion so they're basically saying we're gonna give you a billion dollars over five years For a million people when you're not gonna get that because people have got things like Comcast you get peacock free Yeah, so that's one person gone, you know And you get the amount of those and then the same you know you get I think if you've got like Comcast and I've got this from like the Wrestling Observer guys like Comcast premium You get it for free, but if you've got Comcast, which is like a cable thing Yeah, you get it for two dollars fifty for three months, okay, and You know in previous years which we've always said is fucking crazy They used to give WrestleMania away for free because if you signed up you got a free month which included WrestleMania Which we know full well from looking at that there was early reports where they can't lie it went from 1.1 to like 1.8 So even free the only got an extra 700,000 people and then the next earnings report they've got 1.2 million paid subscribers So that extra 800 people that came on to watch WrestleMania ditched it after WrestleMania. That's globally as well. What about now?
They've never given global figures out I've never seen global figures for that. I thought all like the figures they gave the network were global just just domestically I think I think the the global figures are available But I've never seen it when they've said like we've got 1.1 million paid subscribers in America. You mean domestic Yeah, so that's how many we've got but internationally because they thought they thought they were gonna get five million subscribers worldwide Yeah, but it's like a hundred thousand like for the rest of the world which is insane considering all the British Have you seen that? Yeah, and they'll have the whole back catalog or whatever they want Yeah, and you've got my BT sport and any WrestleMania's on there. So well, that's okay. Mm So they lost money on us, but they thought they were gonna game on you on people But what they didn't realize is there's only a finite of actual funds who want to do it Who would want to subscribe to that because you're getting that you can get Netflix for $10 and you'll casually watch Netflix because it's not its own entity Netflix is just putting on thing It does put its own things on there now, but in the beginning It was just showing you films and stuff that you've already heard of so a lot of people sign up to Netflix and probably not watch you for a month And then go whole shit. Yeah, I think that's a really good point about seeing a Just a bit of a missed opportunity I think he did himself down actually see I really do because I think that even if he was told to do that I think he could have adapted it a little bit. Yeah, even if you like thinking about it from the from the One night's on shit, right? That's that's exactly the scene of our way to see them.

It's forgivable because he's standing up for himself and someone's bullying him So it's just it's just unfathomable that they didn't have him have a little bit more fire Because it wasn't a very John Cena-esque thing to do to just take it quietly wrestle Apologize I might win sauce like so ridiculous like and the kids wouldn't have been upset if he would have got a bit angry because he's defending himself He's defending his job and the kids don't want him to lose his job That would be really upsetting to them.
So he's got he's gonna defend his job So it's just I don't understand the rationale behind keeping him They really did keep him in such a box But the box didn't make any sense at all it was like they had a wombrus stroke Or a no deviation from that stroke at all even when it made sense if he was an actual human being For him to just get a bit mad at that point. Yeah, absolutely But they couldn't just one lane you wouldn't do it and also the surprising thing with that as well He's like you've got the guy so whether you whether you agree with it or not. You've got the guy losing And the final shot is of Vince McMahon So they make no reference to Cena being fired at the end of that show at all And you know, I mean what I don't think he was or if he was it was like for a couple of weeks or something like that You know, I would be interested to see the roar after this And this is kind of the rabbit or you go down there when you start with you in these shows like, you know, what was the roar after Money in the bank like did see you get fired on that show. Yeah, or was that forgotten?
Like was that something because for all we know we we're watching a montage that whole oh and if you don't when you fired That might have been redacted in the raw before You don't mean I'm but they just picked it out for the montage and we're taking it as red that that was The stipulation that seen her ad going into that match. Perhaps it didn't I don't know Maybe it was it wasn't that as dramatic as they made it walk, but yeah, it's just yeah It's just a shame. I just I think it would have been a much stronger match If he was just standing up for himself a little bit more and add a bit more to kick So this is what happened. So the answer to whether or not John Cena got fired after Money the bank is no Okay, I suppose the situation the match Cena would be fired by Vince McMahon if he lost and actually seen from one the title of the pay View event so he's expected that on raw mitt man would fire Cena But he wasn't fired as triple H intervened and prevented the firing See again, I don't think that feels John Cena any favors like how is he so passive in this situation?
Why did triple H Like he is the one at the top that's the whole reason put pics on him because he was the one at the top Why is he getting saved by Triple H? Where's his voice in all of this? It's fucking bizarre It's so bizarre, especially when you've seen him being so impassionate about shit That didn't fucking matter when it came to his job and all his region fans He rolled over and just let him just take a belly Like it was just strange just really just a simple Such a good point that such a good point. I do make them sometimes You always make them you say that to myself. I wasn't saying that That's not very much So let's get on to the end of this At the end retro so I've given it a six out of ten Because I think the main event alone was worth six out of ten It's from the overall part of the show But thinking about it the ladder matches were okay But they were only okay because they were a side product I think the raw the raw ladder match after you know the murky the del Rio by punk at the end kind of devalues everybody that was in that That one and I know that's kind of nitpicking But it dies the way they did it You know he didn't even get a shot in like if it's because if Because can you imagine like the crowd pop if del Rio actually cashed in and lost And like del Rio like hit a finisher or he had him across armbreaker And all the crowd are like oh my god punk is gonna get screwed out of this And then he hits him with a gts and beats him beats del Rio then And that would have made del Rio look stronger It would have made the people in the ladder match look stronger than that kind of thing But I thought the ending to the road until they brought him So the autumn christian match was great It came you know Orton came across as a super a superstar The crowd were really bought into what was going on there And that was about it The big show and i'm not very much completely forgettable The brie beller Kelly Kelly match completely forgettable Was that it was that the only match you see got two ladder matches? So yeah, it was yeah divas big show Only the bank war, only the bank Yeah, we just had the last two matches really saved it And that's the kind of you know That's kind of what you want really is the last two matches to go over to some degree I've gone six hours and for that show Okay, I'm gonna go for a seven Okay And the reason being purely for that main event Because I think that as we The reason I'm justifying it a little bit Because I was thinking about six, six, five, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven, seven It's gonna be shows that I enjoyed from start to finish Whereas I only really like going to the very very last match But I think there's gonna be shows where I'm never gonna see that match for a long time Yeah And that in itself makes it quite a special pay per view Just to at least have that match But I do think on the whole it was it was a bit meh Like before it Yeah And I really like money in the bank matches Yeah, yeah, basically They're usually they're quite exciting But for some reason these ones weren't I don't know why I don't know if it's because the anticipation of that main event And maybe everybody went into that pay per view Knowing that it didn't matter Because it was all about that mix So maybe everyone pulled back a little bit And there just wasn't as much to do and to show for You know probably Was a lot of crazy spots really I mean the old spot I could remember is St. Cara going through the through the other Yeah Sorry like a big moment in one of those matches I think everyone just knew what that was about And then when Chicago You essentially know you're going out to a crowd Who doesn't want to watch it They're just waiting for They're glad to be there But they're waiting for that They're waiting for their baby Yeah And if we keep it WWE We're never gonna get I don't think we're ever gonna get We might get overall as a show We might get high in a situation 7 But we have technically watched the best WWE match According to Dave Meltzer In the last decade So longer than a decade So it's gonna be hard I think to top that as a match But I think as a show we can do And it doesn't necessarily mean we have to stick with WWE We can do a WCW Which I've never seen You've never seen We could do all the next sees We could do You know like the first ever NXT take over We could do that actually I mean it all take over would be very interesting Yeah just to see what it's like now Compared to then I'm up for anything I'm up for watching fucking Hogan Back in the day I'm up for watching Stings WCW run Any I'm up for anything I think it'd be interesting Because especially because Shavani is the voice of WCW Obviously is for AEW as well I think that would make it a little bit more bearable As far as You know I think I don't want to watch something that is universally Picked as being shit I wanted to have some sort of redeeming feature to it You know like an old WrestleMania or something like that Like I'm still up for that Well I have a little thing because we picked that one in particular Because of the 5 star match Yeah But that was the reason why that was like right We'll watch that then Because if that was the last 5 star main roster match Good place to start And maybe we should have a look at some of the others Because as a few WCW runs in there I mean we're never gonna go back and watch old new Japan Never gonna go and watch like Random Arrow H matches like 5 star matches I want like a full show That's easily accessible to me I don't want to be paying like 25 quid Just to watch one paper view But
