He and his colleagues study social connection, what that connection does for us, and how people can learn to connect more effectively.  Jamil has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and received more than two dozen awards from scientific associations and universities.  In addition to his scientific work, Jamil has written about the psychology of connection for outlets including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and Harvard Business Review.  His first book, The War for Kindness, was described by NPR as a “wide-ranging, practical guide to making the world better.”  His second book, Hope for Cynics, was praised by Adam Grant as “A ray of light for dark times.”  About Lainie:Lainie Rowell is a bestselling author, award-winning educator, and TEDx speaker.
