1432-RNASEH2C Regulation in Liver Cancer Immunity
from Paper Talk
This scientific research paper identifies RNASEH2C as a critical driver of liver cancer progression by suppressing the immune system's ability to recognize and attack tumors. The study reveals that this enzyme increases TRAF3IP1 expression, which in turn inhibits the mTOR pathway and triggers the lysosomal degradation of a protein called RAI14. Because RAI14 is essential for macrophages to internalize and present tumor antigens to Th1 cells, its destruction leads to immune escape and accelerated tumor growth. Through various mouse models and human cell analysis, the authors demonstrate that HSC70 and CMTM6 play opposing roles in regulating this degradation process. Ultimately, the research suggests that targeting the RNASEH2C-TRAF3IP1-RAI14 axis could significantly enhance the effectiveness of current immunotherapies for hepatocellular carcinoma.References:Pan B, Yu H, Lin Z, et al.
