By way of “Review the Review” (and with Greg's consent), Nick would like to discuss “Omnium Gatherum” by King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. It is an adventure ride through KG&LW’s id, where no two, of the sixteen songs, sound alike & the first song is over 18min alone. It seems like those that love KG also love this album & those that don’t hesitate to say so (hence Pitchfork’s 7.3, here’s the review). Contestants take a guess at the price of some highly collectible records. The closest guess without going over takes the point. Song: The 1975 - “Heart Out (Live at the O2)”Jay shared a recent Adam Neely video, detailing how his band, Sungazer, nearly lost $17,000 on a recent tour due to COVID cancellations. Neely cleverly made his video about something else though. Recounting past circumstances where bands have shared financial details from a tour, Neely calls out the perception, as exemplified by the angry comments, that musicians should starve to make a tour work. Should they have to ‘sleep in the van’? Also, given the lost revenue caused by the COVID cancellations (as in, the band members got COVID), should bands even be touring in 2022? Greg shares his thoughts and experiences and we all discuss the inherent problem with expecting adults to sleep poorly in freezing conditions to prove they love playing music.
