145 - Michael Lockwood In episode 145 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, host James Patrick Regan speaks with producer and guitarist Michael Lockwood. Michael has worked with Amie Mann, Fiona Apple, Carly Simon and his former wife, the late Lisa Marie Presley. In their conversation Michael discusses his most recent production projects Bird Streets, Yahtzee Brown and internal music for Apple. Michael talks about his journey from Bakersfield to Hollywood and his band that got him started “Lions and Ghosts”. Michael tells us about what Hollywood was like before the hairband era of the mid ‘80’s. Michael describes his gear throughout the years including his custom shop Gretsch’s that were made for him by Stephen Stern and his search for a specific Hamer guitar as used by James Honeyman-Scott and amps customized by Dave Friedman. Michael talks about working in a vintage guitar shop in Hollywood in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s and the quantity of bursts and pre CBS fender instruments coming through the door. Michael describes working with Sylvian Sylvain from the New York Dolls. Michael is active on social media.
