145 The Stayner Brothers, Steven and Cary with Jody Plauche

On this episode, we’re covering a tale of 2 brothers. 2 brothers who couldn’t be more different. Steven and Cary Stayner. The whole saga of the Stayner family is heartbreaking, and one of the strangest cases in true crime. In the early 70s, Steven Stayner was abducted by a predator who in addition to abusing him for 7 years, attempted to make him his son..until he aged out, and the predator tried to make him recruit a new brother. He refused, but the predator found one anyway. Rather than let him put this new boy through the hell he had gone through, Steven and the new boy escaped, and both were reunited with their families. Steven had been gone for 7 years, and the media frenzy made Cary fade into the background.
