#147 - The DARK Side of Comedy: Hunter Collins on Nihilism & Humor

In episode 147 of The Johnny Rogers Show I caught up with stand up comedian, Hunter Collins! On today’s podcast Hunter joins me from a secret spider lab in Germany. His word for the episode was, “nihilism” so we talk all about his perspective on that and how it’s important for comedy. Some call Hunter Collins an “International Television Juggernaut”, or “The King of Modesty”, but most know him as that man who keeps asking them for the rest of their food. The bilingual Montrealer has performed at festivals such as JFL42, The Halifax Comedy Festival, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and toured extensively through North America, Australia and Europe. Hunter has sexed it up big-time on shows like CTV Comedy’s Roast Battle Canada with Russell Peters, Discovery Channel’s Disasters At Sea, Crave TV’s New Eden, CBC Gem’s True Dating Stories, CBC Radio’s The Debaters and in a surprising amount of rural bus stations. He hosted the 18th annual Canadian Comedy Awards and his last album Nincom2oop debuted at #1 on the iTunes comedy charts. His new album Hunter Collins Goes To Hell was released by Comedy Records on August 12, 2022 and plays regularly on Raw Dog Comedy (ch. 103) and JFL Canada (ch. 168) on Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Hunter is a graduate of the Comedy Writing & Performance program at Humber College where he won the Mike Myers Award, which is given to the graduate who achieves the highest levels of performance and professionalism. His cartoon Hawkeye Sucks has also taken home “best animated short” awards from both the Portland Comedy Short Film Festival and Toronto’s GeekFest Film Festival.
