148 - Steve Wyreman and Evanne Barcenas In episode 148 of “Have Guitar Will Travel”, presented by Vintage Guitar Magazine, host, James Patrick Regan speaks with Grammy winner Steve Wyreman and Evanne Barcenas, in their conversation they discuss: The name of their band “Effie Zilch”, coined by columnist Herb Cain in the San Francisco Chronicle. Steve discusses his guitar collection and his guitar hunting adventures. Steve and Evanne discuss their how they met in high school in the Silicon Valley area of California and Steve tells us about his musical upbringing. Steve and Evanne tell us how they have contributed to albums by Richard Ashcroft from the Verve (whom Steve tours with) and Miko Marks (who they both tour with in support of Little Feat and Tedeschi Trucks Band) Steve tells us about his disdain for acoustic pickups and di’s and the gear he uses with Richard Ashcroft as well as the project with Evanne. The two discuss the venues they’re playing although they prefer to record at this point. Steve will be playing with Richard in support of Oasis this summer. They tell us about their record label Redtone records which is a non-profit.
