#148 The Tale of Bullied to Death: The Story of Lawrence/Latisha King

The 2008 Shooting Death Of 15-Year-Old Lawrence King By Classmate Brandon McIreney Because Lawrence Was Openly Gay**KD IS NO LONGER WITH ORBITAL JIGSAW OR BLUBRRY**On February 12, 2008, 15 year old Lawrence King was seated in his computer lab in class working on an English paper when 14 year old Brandon McIreney pulled a gun from his back pack and shot Lawrence twice in the back of the head.  Lawrence died 2 days later.  The tension between the boys had been growing the the days and weeks leading up to the shooting, as Lawrence had been subjected to incessant bullying and taunting from not only Brandon, but several of the boys in his class.  In his attempt to turn things around on his tormentors, Lawrence began teasing and taunting Brandon back, which enraged Brandon.  The school seemingly did very little as the problems between the boys continued to escalate.  Please note that I chose to refer to Lawrence by his given name in this story because he had not had the chance to transition before he was murdered.SOURCES:https://www.learningforjustice.org/magazine/fall-2008/making-sense-of-the-senseless-the-murder-of-lawrence-kinghttp://criminal-justice.iresearchnet.com/crime/school-violence/lawrence-king/http://content.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,2090287,00.htmlhttps://www.aclu.org/news/lgbtq-rights/remembering-larry-kinghttps://abcnews.go.com/US/eighth-grade-shooting-larry-king-brandon-mcinerney-boys/story?id=14666577https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-xpm-2013-oct-06-la-et-st-valentine-road-20131007-story.htmlLINKS:Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/killaforniapodPayPal:  https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/killaforniapodMerchandise:  https://killaforniadreamingpodcast.threadless.com/Website:  https://killaforniadreamingpodcast.buzzsprout.com/Facebook Group:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/1296620370450345/Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/killaforniadreamingInstagram:  https://www.instagram.com/killaforniadreamingpod/?hl=enTwitter:  https://twitter.com/killaforniapodEmail:  [email protected] the show
