You say go at you then, you can go to the ranch. Yeah, that's a sixth engine. I thought Tommy used to use a car. So Steve's got one door and then...

That's a staircase? That's a staircase? It's blocked off. Have you got to swap a credit card?

No, no, no. Have you got to go at you then you fixed cards? Yeah, upstairs. There!

You go through the upstairs? You know, there's two... What about the car? What about the car?

You can't have the wrong door where you got to stay. Yeah, there's another wrong door next to it. That's it. The garage is on the robbery.

I'm not going to stop the stairs. All right, that's the floor of my workshop. That's a little bit straight. No, I want to kick the car.

No, the building of any shipbox? Yeah, yeah. On some underground. Yes, it is.

I need anything... I'm going to toggle Getaway 4! Not really, but I'm going to hit here. My guy charged me an extra 20 bucks to point it.

But, so you told me it was, I remember something. I thought this was what that big mirror was for in the back of the car. I told you I got the mirror for you. Because if you hit, look, look.

I've got to get the gift book. Because then he got already got it. Ah, get your friend look. We'll present a gift already.

Yeah, then, guys, we'll start. The one you got after the good evening. Derry! You're welcome.

We've got Terry's walk in. Terry's coming in. Terry, Lewis, come and see me. The one you got after the good evening.

He's going to speak to the old car podcast, pool house, we're at the rich shore performance warehouse. We ride reason for some of this get touched with the shore touch. They're going to be faster. Yeah, rack rack rack.

So, tonight's all about racing car drivers. We've got Tom and Ravi, we've got security here. Basically, we've got Terry Lewis, he's also part of RXA. Basically, Tom and Rich, you're welcome everyone.

Full house, how's it going? Cool. Tom handed over the Ravi reporter Tom, an orange box. So, basically what's that?

That's a trying computer. They need to put that on their account. And then you go across the start, finish line. Yeah, to be curious, is it a time you've got that time you've done?

So, all the racing cars have all done. Yeah. And they're all different number. So, they're all different idea.

And they get registered with through nearing or? Yeah, it's a time you've got you. So, basically, you're back and down so they can not learn it. What's your name?

That's the question. Yeah. Every race car got this or is it? I must have sat back in the back because I might be able to tell you.

It's like, you need that because it's got the machine that reads it. And so, basically, is it the standard? It's got door and industries. Is this like going on?

Of course, some space. One of their own things. Yeah. You're getting a different cycle like Queensland.

And they'll have their own. Well, you went thinking that there's like the Reboxing planes. Or the black box? You've got the V boxes for figures.

But I don't know if you're racing. I mean, the Honda's going on in front of the other front too. Is it? Because you've got the timing.

Isn't it? You're going to be consistent. That's what makes a timing. Yeah.

This is in the race track under the Richmond. In the sense of pickup. The track sets to the car. So, because you've set the time.

It's called a kick. It asks one question. Since you use my VR sensor. Is that the same tool that's like a big old supercars camera?

You've given out the curb a lot and all that? Or is it a different sensor? No, I have to hit the saw. That's where I put it.

Yeah. But down this is it. It's a little bit more than the car. I've got the front of the car.

So, when two different cars go past the thing at the same time. It might register someone else's name. They might register someone else's name. They might register someone's name.

It's just in the front of the car to a clock. You've got to a clock. So, yeah. So, basically, this is like, it's almost two match boxes together.

So, if you put this at the front of the car. And it's almost like it did. It's not like it did. It's not like it did in a certain place.

Yeah. Who's cheats? They can't retire them on the grill. Who cheats?

Screwed me. I don't check anything. Occasionally they will check. I've seen them check.

They're not going to get a ticket. They're not going to get a ticket. And they're not going to leave the car. And it picks up that timing device.

No, it doesn't. It's supposed to be on the left hand side of the passenger side. Yeah. Around the front.

Exactly where you had it. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's on that one actually.

We're going to check that one in the front. Why don't you go? Can you triple the sensor? Could you triple it?

No. Well, then what's it? That's a transmitter. That's a transmitter.

Sort of the receiver on the road. Yeah. On the pole. Yeah.

You know what the sensor is? What's it doing? I'm just saying. drive in the 60s of America where you only had a certain amount of fuel, like a hundred litre tank for argument's sake.

So what he did is he put about 10 litres of wiring. So yeah, so an extra 10 litres, because the hose from the tank to the engine went like circled the car up and down and around. So that could be his Atlas pit stops. We can actually use that for a full volume.

Yeah, so you got to go check all the way to the ice cream here in these things. I mean it's a whole wide, but check the ovens is what goes down. It's also screwed in the air. So what I'm going to say, I'm going to screw in these, what do they check?

Is it more for safety or for cheating? They don't check. We have going guys in our category. They go around, check this and that.

You can check it. Just walk the truck. Just walk the truck. You can't even check on your book.

The short boys are going to say, okay, I'll re-take up when you build a motor or put it back together to sum and check it and why tie it. Yes. They do. Well the turbos they do.

The turbos they got the ring. That's the best of the amount of the ring. What we have is a record in the mountain. And in New South Wales we can come down and watch it together.

It's in Victoria, Cameron, John's down there. The rallies they come and tell you you strip the engine and you strip the engine and measure everything. Make sure the engine has been there. It's a bit of a bit of a bad idea to have someone there.

I get someone to envision what you go again. Just basically. You really treat them on the minimise of bullets and they're pretty much basically steamers. The screwed in the engine is a lot of referee.

You know you've got that person this way, get his stripped all in all streeters. They have to check the raw cage. The numbers on the raw cage. You have to check the seats.

They almost. It doesn't matter who it is. It's like the fiber gate. They have the fried seat.

They have fried seat just for your clothing. They have a fire suppressant stuff. What do you have to have a fried extinction? You don't have to carry one.

You're allowed to. If you do it, it must be in date. It's not in date. What made them do that?

To have a problem with a gun. I have no idea. You have to have them anyway. What are the extimatures that each of you are sicked with?

The most counterpoints have is an engine. So they probably get to the cars a lot quicker. I just like to give us a drive over to a flat point. I think it has a car in our way.

It's basically, I mean, I watch a lot of it. At exit points, they're cracking down. There's a car stop on track. They've mobilized the other race cars on the other legs.

They slow you down. Is it like the other day when they got the car on the jacks? I've seen the thing that the five cars were. They start the jack.

They run by the clock there. Someone just fucked up. You've seen them. They're all that or something.

So the vehicle car is less than that. Sorry. It's more important that they get off the track. Like the safety center, Para Mather was still having the guys still on the track.

The guys was, it's easy for them to get off the track to leave the jack there with the car. How could they do that? I mentioned the guy who was the job that was, what he was the cop. But it happens.

It happened. It happened. So when you guys have your pit crew, is there someone that controls the boys around the car? Like who's the?

In larger groups or larger teams? Is it here? Is it here on the controls? Do you remember a Bafest?

How many, at the six hours we're talking about, how many can you have working on your car at one time? The cost of lying in the pits. Yeah. So now we're starting out with this.

Five. Remember the rope, what did the rope pull out? The guy who standing behind the line, pulling out the wheel chocks. The wheel chocks.

Oh, I see it. He's not counted as a person. He had a rope. We were wheel chocked like that.

He's pulling it out. See? Something you'll learn every day. I want to introduce you to say thank you to all the boys for learning us all access.

That's six hours a week. That was awesome. I haven't seen the guys since that. And having that access literally over your shoulders looking to see exactly what you guys are doing.

And I don't know if you were in work mode. There was a bit of a problem with the car. So we didn't want to do that. It was a stage where we were jumping in.

No, no, no, don't touch nothing. We haven't caught this in that way. No, no, we haven't. We haven't seen the car in the car.

No, you can't. We've got the actual race day. I'm the switch. The master switch.

The guy. The car needs to thank the car. The lead you should be in. The car turned itself off.

What's the name? What's the name? What's the name? What's the name?

What's the name? What's the name? The car. The car.

It was stand at pit. It looks like we spoke in about it. Don't you guys about it? You've really got to find the rules whether it's the pit crew, or whether we're invited in there.

There's a stage where I was taking photos. And the team that bobsched next to you were all dressed up in Fj Harvesttiten fuel and it was a pretty delicate time in the pits. They were all suited up andcot'd away. Did you really know that?" It took it out.

It took it out that he will cry. Yeah yeah he. Wait. Bob in the class.

That didn't tell us that the master was. It's the master. that was. The master wasn't.

gigs that we had in the class. Next to us, yes. Let he really wanted to win that. They were pretty fastidious, I thought we would be the Alex eight boys with our fastidious end.

They wanted to disqualify Rick because the guy wasn't wearing his... Are they gonna buy something? The five of them, the five suit. The one we saw?

The five, the five. The official king, the race. The six, the other one. Yeah.

Of course your guy wasn't wearing the... The five, the field thing. Okay. He's not on summoning him.

It's right. He does it. He's got a lot of it. No it's not.

It's not going to be in. He was right. No, no, no. Anyway, that said you don't have to wear all right.

You're all right. Anyway, Rick's sure was right. But the pits on that side, said something about the fuel guys are the two guys. Right, the daughter, he's daughter.

I can't remember the fuel. We're wearing a bala carvers, they're flying by the carvers. Was it that or something? Yeah, the right hero.

Yeah, but the rules have changed and you could. So then we're in great deep without being there. You were talking about the screen and you were playing all the time. With the old rules.

Yeah, like the old rules and the new rules have changed. You pointed out and they agreed. Okay. But that's, I mean, does it change to a season?

Like how often do you see it? When you prepare your race car. How often do you see it? Read the rule book.

Like is it something? You can't do it all the time. You've got to keep up with changes and regulations. So is it today email you or you just got to be aware of it?

Is it like AR? Or email for each? Yeah, list the rules for that. You can email it.

And it can't change from race to race where this race you can't run. Not enough of it, but it does. Give me a say that New Zealand's RX-A cars are differences to Australia. Yeah, they've got different regulations.

They're very similar to what we run. They've got a back wing. Okay. They're lighter.

So it's an arrow at weight. They've got a few more freedoms than we've got. Basically what makes them probably faster is they're lighter. They pull a lot more out of them.

We've got a bit of tyre. It's basically the same sort of idea. But just like if it was... Is it a control tyre with the RX-A?

Yeah, it's all control tyre. Yeah. And to make the car lighter what they do about the interiors and things like that? Everything under the dash, all the interior.

Take the windows out, put the legs in. Okay. Front and rear screen. Front and rear screen.

Front and rear screen. Front and rear light. Front and rear screen. Don't mention that.

It makes us feel terrible. But they're like the cars. I mean, it costs a lot more to build a car like that. Yeah.

Our regulations are designed to build a car at the absolute minimum cost possible. Okay. Which is good because it's a starting point. The starting point and it allows more teams to race.

But what we're going to do is, is there a bunch of costly transportation for you to get around the country like a better state of New Zealand? Yeah, we travel much. Obviously greater distances than what they do. But because it was north and south island they run two separate series.

Okay. And the series at the island are south island series. So, I mean, in setting up a car, to go racing in a weekend, what is the big cost? Is it the tyre?

It's the tyres and entry. It's the tyres and entry. It's the tyres and now fuel cost feels going on. We're going to use too much fuel.

We've got a couple of back to the fuel over the weekend. But tyres and entry is the main cost of the car. Well, the work they're running this weekend is the motor car. What are the cost of the motor?

This weekend? How many cars are running? How many? I'm taking one.

You've got the other one? Yeah. You're going? I'm not in three cars.

Three cars. Are the John Bell driving one of the spare cars? So, what fuel do you put in there? Is there a one on gate?

So, it's not a one on gate. So, have the boys on the road? No, no. Don't feel.

There's the track supply at the tank. Or you just drive out the shell and fill it up with your petrol valve. What is the six-hour drive? The six-hour drive.

It can bring your own fuel. It can bring your own fuel? Okay. So, the price of fuel is basically whatever you see on the street.

We're not out there. The six-hour drive, the six-hour drive, the bike from the specific place in you. From the people that are in the spot track. In the six-hour drive, people are talking about people walking around with jerry cans.

You want to get some fuel you get from that spot where there's not little. It's five-hast in there. It's the same thing. You've got four dollars in a lead or something.

Wait, wait. In the six-hour, it comes in your drum. There's no access to fuel at all. Okay.

Everyone's got the same fuel. It's controlled. Whereas I take a couple of minutes over. And having a controlled tire means it's one sponsor.

Does the tire cup usually sponsor the event? Or still you're the tire that makes rates? Or is it... It's still...

It's been hot in the price of the tires after quite a few years but they just bump it up recently. I don't make them straight. I think they're a Korean tire. Do I?

They're making a tire one. Do we make them make them make nothing in Australia? That's a shame. They're a proper race tire.

They specifically make motorsport. They're an arse-peak or semi-slick. They're a big-sized handmade. Hand-made.

Hand-made. And they're numbered so they know what mould the tire was made on and what mould it came out. Oh, they're kind of coming out. And they come wrapped in a heat patch and they're actually a couple of them.

So that's for the series to be controlled in the arse-peak. Okay. How long is the tire last, is it? Generally we'll do a race meet.

And Siri, how many races do you want to us? The weekend. It depends on the heat too. With what they use for poor new tires and to all your best tires from the last round.

Easy, sort of a result. Yeah. So I thought it's only the arse-peak we will drive to the Amuse and go first and then sort of... And you can use it for a qualifying on the next time you add another track.

Yeah. Then you take it off on the Friday and use... So I say a seven-hour, how much does it have? Yeah, I've got half, what's the five.

Yeah, so basically each of which round you use for plus two, two, 40, 40, 40, 40, 40. How much is each style? So, 940 bucks for a four-hour. A grand.

A thousand dollars. A four-hour. Then you pay $700 for a month, fill them up in nitrogen instead of air or sometimes we want to use air. And then your fuel?

And obviously, the ladies would go through it roughly? The cars are capable of a big drink. Well, they're well-being. And we got to fill it up on and we filled up the tank, had 65 litres in it.

And then we pissed off for a drive change. The cars wouldn't go down. So you really wouldn't do it? If that stick all the time, it makes four.

Oh, yeah, yeah. We've got to record it. 65 litres in probably 40, 45, 55 minutes. How many cases are that?

Two, three, four, five. No, I'm not sure. I'm going to count. We'll count it up.

We'll count it up. We'll count it up. Yeah. So four, five, four.

Yeah. So four, five, four. Yeah. So four, five, four.

Yeah. So four, five, four. Yeah. That's, that's all that.

Yeah. Yeah. Right. So I'll go on.

That's two days a minute. That's a 100 k. It's 120 k. Here we go.

Which is... No, no, it's a 100 k. One litre of two case. It's 50 litres, 100 k.

That's 50 litres, 100 k. 50 litres, so the average car burns about eight to nine litres. Semine to seven, six on this burnout. So it's a lot of fuel.

So it ties a fuel out up. Kind of a bit extreme. You've got to get down there too. My increase is $160, $40 a fuel.

With a car full of three times. Just with the trip and then fill it up once you get back. Then you've got the car out of the bay. And then you've got the entry.

How much is an entry now? That's basically $1,100, $1,000 fuel down there. Combination. So it's just $1,600.

Yeah, $1,600. All right. We'll get much change out of 10. If you're going to have to go to the car, you're going to get you another run.

Okay, so $4,500. That's still not bad. How many? If you don't like the water thing, you're going to work that much on one.

They're a car that you don't. They've got $9,200 RPM rear limits. Yeah, you can't expect a race a car in and not have costs. No, we've never said that because we were talking about going to TCR.

And the price of the TCR went round about $3,000. Wasn't it? Yeah, $3,500. $3,500.

That's the real car. Like, yeah, $7,300 grand a season. You're not going to get the RX-8 car, but you guys aren't up to $3,000 a year. No, but it's an affordable car for drivers to get into.

That's right. And it's only $1,000 a year. You only have to walk into the house while selling. Yeah, that's right.

It's a kick the house, didn't it? Yeah. Hey, what's the price money again? Yeah, it's a good idea.

Actually, when I was racing in the production cars, the price money was like $2,500. And there were some tracks because they had no spectators, you got nothing. Yeah, so it wasn't. It's not.

You know, it would buy, you'd buy yourself a set of half two sets of diets. Right? And we said this last time, I was still at the top, and that's basically out of all the racing series around the world, there'd be about 200 paid drivers? Yeah, not many.

Like, if you look at F1, there's only about four or five that are getting paid to be there, and the rest are bringing sponsorship money, even at F1 level. So you look at each category, and you look at that supercars. How many superstars are there really two or three that are commanding big money? The one of them is coming into this weekend to race with us.

Yeah, jump out. Yep. And back in these days, it was worked during the weekend, race on weekends. It wasn't a full time-time thing back in the Group A days.

And so yeah, that's running the RXA Cup, a passionate and that's their hobby. The tax action was called a hobby. Oh, no, no, no! Yeah, I'm sure.

We're not going to go through the intricacies of the ATO, the tax rules. We're just going to focus on the screen, but yeah. That means you're raising money this month, you should be forced into things like that. We're not saying that it's all at least expensive to race.

It does cost money. You're not there to make a million dollars a year out of it. It's something that's people are passionate about and they enjoy. It's just another hobby that we all like.

We love our cars, we love to go racing. Where are you up to now, Tom? We're going to go. How's the season going?

The season's going really well. We're at the moment, we're at the half-vocal. So we're three rounds in, two or three to go. We're leading the state and the national championship.

So last round was Wynton, Victoria. We came away with the round week and got full position, one win, two wins. That was good. We sort of got a few more points on the second place.

Coming into this weekend, Sydney made home race. A lot of people know the track. I think last time we were there, we were fourth overall. We struggled in the wet a little bit.

Haven't driven much in the wet. I think we started the weekend at six to eight sport. We're back to second, once it dried out. Hopefully it stays dry this weekend.

It says it's not going to rain tomorrow and the rest of the week is sunny. Do you know that record at Wynton? Yeah, I've got that record at Wynton. So you got two lap records now?

Two, yeah. Two out of three lap records this season. How you finding, I mean, you said the wet, are you not experiencing wet weather? Is it a different craft?

We've got a racing? I've only been driving, it's only a bit years. It's only rain. I know we've just gone through the big wet season.

It's still happening. There's basically experience for you. But it's just, if it's wet on the weekends, it's wet on the weekends. It's been sunny every time we've gone racing.

When I started, I did a little bit of wet driving in different cars. And in the RX-8, I've only done two weekends in the wet. So I've learned it quickly outside, but it's just about adjusting to the tyre. Because it's shocking in the wet.

No water dispersing, not to ever. It's free. You're still trying to slow down. Yeah, yeah.

It's just about lines and adjusting your driving. I'll say there could be a great wet driving. And I'll be a bit slower in the dry. Yeah, I could be a great wet driving.

I'll be a bit slower in the dry as well. It's all about the art with the driver. So there's a lot of tennis where you're good at parrastin, you're not good on clay. Is it what you're used to?

Is it what you've experienced? Or is it certain people have certain skills to it? What do you reckon it is? So apparently there's a lot to do with the tyres you've got on the car at the time.

And it's also people's idea of preserving your car as opposed to where you sit on the grid. So I like to be a bit more reserved. Yeah. And then it dries up and then it comes through.

Same tyres. Sometimes if you're practicing with your second hand tyres, your first one might get away from your younger brother Justin. He's having a drive just at a young RXA car. They've got a frick.

It's 25 going for the car. Yep. And he had a new issue set of tyres that shouldn't have been using. But he didn't have too many rims.

And last about two weeks ago we went to basic pre-gens. He was down right. And he just drove away from you like he was at the centre and I was Terry Lewis. See.

So he was saying you had a jealousy there I think. I was going to say you were going to say that too. But we did have a serious car on those brothers. But basically because you asked us seriously it says it's tyres have been good skills.

So if you put a good wet weather driver in a car with tires and you have a good race car driver in excellent tyres and the tires will trump the skill. At a great level. I'm not saying it's from an old player on there. That's right.

Yeah well, the tires are very important. Yeah. It's quite important to get it. It's quite important to get it in car control.

You watch some guys in car control. You have to have the guts. And they're driving, like rally drums around there. The thing sideways, but it's like what Terry said.

You got to weigh up the wrist, you've got the car chucking it away. It's important to pick your car home. To come through a special finish. Yeah.

That's right. So yeah, I mean that's an interesting thing to say. It's sort of where you qualify even if you sit back a bit and then claw your way through. Rather than set many paces and then you do prefer to beat the hunter or beat the hunter.

Hunter or Furt would be the hunter. Oh, he's going to do it. He won. I guess.

I reckon that's not. Yeah. Never say I'd rather be hunted because that needs to come first. He can be full.

It's special. But it's a lot harder to defend. It's a lot harder to be leading and have the pressure on from behind. That's right.

Travelers are targeting you just use the target. Because you see it like mashing hard. You see the front driver defending their line and it will take it up. Making the car wide.

The commentator says he's made the car wide. There's a sort of skill in defending as well. I mean, people try to overtake you whatever position you're in, but especially at the front. So you also look at your mirrors to see whether the guy will build his behind you.

And you've got a corner coming up and you're doing an army done okay now. Where there's other people that love the chase. He's there. He's the target.

I'm going to get him. Like I said, he'll shoot. Yeah, he'll shoot. He goes and R.E.C.

come. Yeah. See? There you go.

You're not four or five of them. Yeah. He'll shoot mate. He'll chase you.

He'll tell him when he is easy. But you've got to make sure you don't have the same mistakes as him. If they make an mistake, it's an opportunity. Yeah.

You don't want to go. They'll go off the track and just follow off the track. Yeah. Because I remember when we were kids running up and raced professionally, I would compare it to the beat next to the other kids.

I'd probably be second chasing first, then be at the front. I prefer this is dead last so you can do whatever you want. We were rather likely at the front. Dead last now.

But do you feel through or coming from behind? We need from last to first. That'd be awesome. Have you an overtake?

It overtakes like we're going to be the Sixers. Which you can do. He's been racing those one recently that he was really really way back and he worked his way through. I can't remember if he's got a little sum race.

That's a lot. That's a lot. No one else. All you have to do is return to the pits.

We have to be 1360, 1359. You can get quite a cross with that. Sometimes you can drive faster when you want to get back up the front again. Yeah.

You might go through well. And if you do need powers in the first, that's one of the good drivers. If they're stuck in the back because of penalties or whatever, a lot of them do pit early to get a clean run to make up tolerating it with harder tyres and running longer rather than trying to do the overtaking. That way you have sort of clear road air and make up positions when the other teams pick.
