Welcome to No Closhes the Clap, I'm Deb, and the gentleman sitting next to me in a five-year-old hip-hop shirt is stuck. Hello! And our listeners will be happy to know I did find my deal with the rights. Yay!
Yay! When Life Hands You Lemons, paint that shit gold. That's the shirt, but it worked in income, next to you finding your anti-stinct stick. So...
Nevermind, relax, I found my deal with the rights shoe. Yay! You're out of Stinky Pete. I'm casting never cats involved.
I'm gonna get you Stinky Pete. Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap. What are you talking about? Seal up.
Oh, yeah. I'm gonna get you Stinky Pete. I totally forgot about that. Ah, I'm gonna favorite quotes.
Me and Hazel Lewis going back and forth on C-Lab and awkwarding hunger quotes. I hope you can see this, because I'm doing it as hard as I can hit. Is that C-Lab or is that awkwarding? It's awkwarding, and it's when the aliens are floating off.
Oh, that's right, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just keep getting a bigger middle finger. Now, my favorite is when Shake is holding out giving me the comics section of the paper, and hands on the coupons, and he wants like, the comics are a killer. The rest of it, just align, you do what I say, the rest of it.
That's a deadline. Please start dropping F-thoms, but yeah. Oh, you're gonna like that on Fire Meat? What?
Because you're a dirty white boy. Oh, I love the 400-pilches. How can you nigh? It's like, how can you hit us with the laser?
When your eyes are filled with double vision. All right, who left this thing set on head games? Your roommate is a nerd. Oh, that lasted.
We don't do that anymore. Well, they end up rebooting it as like, Aquitine Adventure, like, crime solving show or something. Another like, super long Aquitine title. And they were trying to go back to them being detectives.
It literally lasted like three episodes before it just kind of went back to what Aquitine has loved for. Which is like, kind of a show, it's completely nonsensical. It falls down these weird, weird holes. Like what he writes a new birthday song, but Geddy Lee doesn't pay him to get it.
It's Zach Wild. Zach Wild and Geddy Lee, but Zach Wild is on the episode. Like I said, they're going to come and eat cat them because they haven't paid them yet. Did you ever watch the behind the scenes on the, I think it was on the second season DVD, and it was like, how to write an Aquitine Hunger episode?
And it's just, I think it's like Adam and, um, Adam Reed and somebody else. I think Matt Valero, I think it's the name I'm thinking of. Like, one shows up at the other one's house. They're like, oh, hey, like, yeah, you read, right?
Sure, sure. And then it's like, this really obvious like jump cut to them, like lounging out in computer chairs and like borderline catatonic. What about if this happened? And I'm like, oh, so really just smoke a big bag of weed.
And then sandwiches. Yeah, yeah, how I made my sandwiches. Yeah. sandwiches were not the strong one.
I was a kid. I just love the visuals that they put along with that with them actually having sandwiches. Or putting them out in ashtrays. He puts up a sandwich on an ashtray and then covers it up with a magazine.
Oh, yeah, that's the other one where he put it in. He thinks Marshall's the Dean. Yeah. See, you think about that moment and then compared to like last season.
Marshall thinks that he's the Dean. Marshall thinks that Ted's the Dean. Yeah. That's when they first meet.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, but later in the episode, Ted is enjoying a sandwich.
Yeah. That's when they realize that he's not the Dean. See, now I'm thinking about stuff that I love in that show is that the one where Lily is pretending to be pregnant because she's stealing that six pack of beer during the college years and he's like, it's that moment you realize that girl's going to be someone's mom and you're like, oh. I can't remember what episode it was, but there's one where it's like, it's like Ted's talking about something in the present day.
Our present day and he goes, I'm like, I'm going to tell my kids about this horrible story. It's definitely- It's about when you're sleeping with 200-bit. Yeah, that's right. He just watched that one.
He cuts the future and goes, am I a bad dad? Yeah. I was like, oh, that's going to be me in about 10 years. Ten years.
You think I'm going to wait that long to say horrible things with your daughter? That stuff? Well, I have her sit down and you know, it's really the story of how Tracy and I met is not good. You know, not really- There's the story of her conception.
New- That's not adult friendly, that's a weird one. I was more thinking, and your other dad, John Jameson. That's how most kids come on. The Kyle Kannade.
I think I'm an accidental adult. Yes. Yeah. So what do we got today?
I finally watched District 9. Okay. Yeah. The same director as- Oh no, no, no, no.
I'm thinking the Elysium is the same guy that District 9 I've gone backwards. I like District 9. I do. It's really funny because you're going to laugh when I say this.
The second I knew I was going to like it is when they finally open up the spaceship and go in and there's just shit everywhere. I'm like, all right, they thought about this. This makes sense. I'm okay with this movie.
Oh, it's incredibly well thought out in terms of semi-realistically, but also with the added layer of it's about apartheid and all that. I was going to say it's about social injustice and prejudice. And the two things that strike me is one that was produced by the guy that did- they watched Nightwatch, Tamir or Berbikov, or however you say is horribly long Russian-class name. But it looked really good for- What I consider to be kind of a shoestring pudge.
I mean- For something that ambitious. I think only- I think only- No, it was less than 10 million, which I know sounds like a lot, but- Yeah, I guess it was something that ambitious. They did great. Yeah, the CGI wasn't bad.
I mean, the prosthetics are great. I love their idea of what they would actually be wearing light clothing. You know, things they can modify into clothing. It's a lot of found items and how the aliens survive.
And you're kind of touched by the little kid alien. I was going to say the biotechnology was very interesting twist. Yeah. Yeah.
I was going to say the twist about the arms dealer in there wanting to eat the flesh to consume its power. Oh, right. It's been a while since I've seen it. So, um- It's really funny because I was having a hard non-term, having a very hard time finding copy for me that was compatible with the technology I was using.
I'm an idiot and didn't look through all the feedback I had because I had it the entire time. Yeah. That's a burn duty. Oh, is that actually a duty form I suppose to try to- Yeah, instead of being a clown of those drive?
Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm an idiot. Like this is new.
The other thing that I re-watched recently, that I haven't watched in forever is that I re-watched Army of Darkness. I'll hail Bruce Campbell. I love the King Baby. But yeah, no, it's really funny because as I told you earlier in the week, my first thought when I'm re-watching this is- Eyes Guar attacking Bruce Campbell.
Because the lead bad guy really does look and sound like a member of Guar. You know what's funny? What it reminds me of is that when the Elder Skeletons are marching and it's that stop-motion animation, it reminds me of when all the, uh, the, uh, skeleton ghosts are made from, uh, Bed Knops and Brooms sticks. Me too.
Like, totally, I was just like, and where's the- I'm like, where's the one playing the bagpipes? And where's Murder She Wrote? Shouldn't she be leading this? Where's Murder She Wrote?
Yeah. You know, Miss Potts? Oh. Murder She Wrote.
Oh, well. Watch Castle. Murder Who Wrote. Look, Castle.
Don't you talk about Nathan Fillion that way? You know me, I will never disparage him. He'll talk about Nathan Fillion. Ever.
Um. But yeah, no, um, there's a reason why certain phrases from Army of Darrick Nis are permanently part of my vernacular. Like, Shop Smart. Shop, S Smart.
Yeah. Um, that's your spill-a-talk baby. This is my Boom Boom Stick. Boom Stick.
Oh, seriously. Boom Stick. And I like how he does the whole presentation on it too. Well, Walnut Stock found in this aisle.
Retails about $199. If you print a screw heads, you can so much as- Breathe at me. It's a phenomenal. But the weird part was it was a marked departure from Evil Dead 1 and 2.
Evil Dead 2 was so different from Evil Dead 1. It was like, you know what? This should have been a comedy. Yeah, but Army of Darrick Nis is like it's so much more comedy than it is.
It's totally right. It was like, what are those where they- I think part of those are like, could we make this commercially viable? And how to do shop? I was just like thinking of Sam Raimi being like, you know what?
Fuck it. Let's just do every gag I ever fucking wanted. Fuck it. Yeah.
Let's do like, uh, very fast, uh, like tracking shots and closeups of bad. That's special effects. Because that's- There's a part of- That's his trade market since Spider-Man 2. Who's gonna say, there's a part when he's finally in the graveyard getting the book and there's one shot where you can see the book is clearly just a three ring binder.
Is it really? Yes. Awesome. I know.
And the Necronomicon is- The Necronomicon is- I mean that's really, I mean it permeated through with Lovecraft, but I mean, I'm sure there's an entire generation that learned, you know, that kind of permeated our pop culture through Army of Darkness. Yeah. And then, you know, I didn't realize at the time that, you know, the magic words are the words from the day that Earthstard still. Oh, I did not realize that either.
Yeah. I thought to Roderick though, I mean it's from the robot Gorton, the original- I didn't see the remake so- It's not good. It's not good. Is that the remake?
With Keanu Reeves. No, John Hamm is the one I'm thinking of as in that. Yes, he's like, is he like the lead human? No.
He is a kind of a bit scientist character. Really? He's, I would say, a little bit more than a bit, but no, he does not have a huge role in it. Okay.
Too busy being a mad man. He's too busy being awesome. Working and advertising. Yeah.
So do you think that when they were advertising to men, years in sports shoes, they actually called it me advertising? God, I hope so, I hope not. Which is great because man advertising doesn't really affect me, so. I suppressed the urge to say something to me.
Oh, say something to me. No, good. I'm practicing my censorship skills week anyways. You always rely on that.
Oh, it's going to be me towards you, not horrifically racist or homophobic. Or homophobic. So apparently you went in a Lion King rant this week. I did go on a Lion King rant.
I had a coworker. And this isn't what started the rant, but the rant wasn't about this. Was that she used the Koonamatata out of context? Like it was not applicable when she used it.
Because it means like no worries, it means like friendship forever, right? Well, my point of view is that translation is no worries for the rest of your day. Hey, hey, hey. No.
Oh, then maybe she didn't use it because I said everything okay, you don't find back here and show Koonamatata and I was like, friends forever. That makes sense. No, not much forever. My issue.
And this is very specific. I think if I had watched the movie recently, I think I've longed a rant. Because I'm sure many things in that don't make sense despite talking animals. I was going to say it's an animated feature about talking animals.
Where a lion takes advice from a toucan. It's not a toucan. He's like, I guess, is he kind of a toucan? I don't think he's a toucan.
I think he's a more specific person. Voice by Ronakins. But the bird is going to be the bulk of my rant. But here's your awkward moment when you watch when you watch Lion King.
That can't you feel the love tonight is effectively a song about two lions fucking. That's what they do. That's not my rant. I'm just saying put that in your head for a while.
No, my big bitch. I'm hoping I can recapture some of the passion. So that goddamn bird. So they put him in a rib cage.
Right? And like you realize if you look at it, if he just put his goddamn fucking arms down, he could get out of the rib cage. And you never really see him fly. He flies like once.
Like what the fuck? Like even need the wings. Like just like what? I don't understand how he's trapped.
Like where the fucking monkey disappears. The Benson of the Lion King, voiced by Benson. Like he just kind of fucks off when scars running things. Like it doesn't make any goddamn sense.
What was that? Sad monkey does not equal like fuck off monkey. Just because he's sad. Like he's the kind of character.
You're the kind of like me about the Lion King. He's the kind of baboon witch doctor. That'd be a good name for a man. There is pin doctors cover bass.
They only do it with those African singers from Paul Simon songs. I was thinking the singers from an African style held in Get It to the Greek. He just makes it the happy African face. Exactly.
No, like he's the kind of baboon witch doctor. That when shit goes down, one he fucking knew kung fu. So you know like he was ready for shit to go down. Like why did he just fuck off?
Like why didn't he go fucking find Simba or start some kind of low like grassroots resistance. Like he wasn't even there to keep like Lang King's mom or Simba's mom like at least upbeat. Maybe these things will change. Like why don't we you know try plotting against the hyenas.
Like it was just this just this sad complacency throughout the like lions pride rock. Like area. Like scar turned it into modern day to Troy. And like no I was doing anything about it.
It's interesting as apparently there's actually a wild cat losing to Troy right now. Why wouldn't there be like fuck it like put that as mayor. I'm sure he fucking better. It's funny because what I needed some questions.
Was that subplot and a robocop that I don't know about? That was going to be a robocop too. It was a robocop versus the wild cat. Yeah, it'd be like in Hot Fuzz when they're chasing the Swan.
The Swan's escaped again. Swan. But no like so. So okay.
On the bird escaping like the disappearing baboon witch doctor like fuck. And then like Simba never questions and he's like. You know, I guess he like considered himself exiled and I was like. So he never like.
He's had a committed patrisian. So. Phil like he never like thought like maybe I'll go and like when did Nala leave like when like she just fucking she was like well fucking I mean it's like there goes the neighborhood like their voice by you know minority so that's terrible so I should leave. Yeah, she's like fuck it.
Like let's gentrification with the jungle like I'm going to go live in Iowa now like where there are no minorities. Um, like and then she just like and then she finds minorities. They're just a lot fewer. Minorities in Iowa are like wild cats in Detroit.
There's only a couple. Right. I'm imagining a whole pack of wild cats rolling the streets of Detroit. Voice by Cheech Maron and would be Goldberg.
Yeah, they have the bit character that just laughs. Yeah. What was the name like Frank? Ed.
Ed. Um, that was my idea to laugh for the individual. Um, you don't like the white bait jokes on the Tymone and Pumbas thing. The what?
The white bait jokes on that Tymone and was going to say Tymone and Pumbas thing. The like the again yep yep yep yep yep yep. For some bacon yep yep yep yep. He's a big big big.
You can be a big big big too boy. And then he thrust his crotch out like fucking Madonna. That's even weirder. Not as weird as the fact that he's wearing a Lululele outfit.
Yeah. Like where the hell did they get that? Did they carry around like did they? Is there some unseen carrot top prop trunk they carry around that no one saw until then.
Well now there is in my head. That's fantastic. Oh, oh, anyway. So really this whole thing turned from bird escaping to how I'm irritated that the Kung Fu monkey butler.
Shaman like just fucked off. What he? Oh. I can't believe you got this egg right with a lion thing.
Well, okay. I understand that like he couldn't directly take on scar because I would mean like it's like a like 100 hyenas versus a monkey. But like you think the lions would like rise up after that. They'd be like oh shit.
Like we gotta help our monkey savior and fucking you know. And then at least I kind of like push back the hyenas. I like how you totally wanted to turn into Malcolm X. Yeah.
Yeah. I wanted to be monkey X. Not to be confused with the movie with Matthew Brodery. Project X.
Monkey X sounds like a villain from a. Powerpuff Girls. Yeah. I like how we thought the same thing there.
Yeah. Sugar, spice and everything nice. And compound X or whatever. I think it was a compound and something like that.
We've argued about that off air. It's not. Yeah. Well then now I'm hearing that out of girls music in my head.
Were you as creeped out by the Satan character and Pepperpuff Girls as I was? Well I have to say. Bless you. At least you don't do what the non-turn does.
Every time I have to say he yells Pika. What's in the notice? Science! Or the same felt you're so good.
Okay. I think of it. Um. Yes.
Yes. I was creeped out that they didn't hold here. Because he had the weird like little girl giggling voice with like the satanic death metal thing in the back and he had like crab claws and he wore like a two two. Yeah.
Yeah. It was weird. It was disturbing. What was the character that wanted to turn everything in the meat?
Mm. I don't remember but I know what you're talking about. I had some episode where he hits bubbles with like the edge of something. She turned into a lame child.
Or like turns into a lame child. He's one of her pigtails turns into a drumstick. Drumstick. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Did you see the one where they all took their own superhero identities? And uh.
Uh. I don't remember all their names. Lost and better couple bubbles. Uh.
Bubbles became like the S. like Lisa Frank unicorn. Um. Like sugarplums and fairies type.
Um. And then which one's the leader? That's awesome. Blossom became like a Wonder Woman.
Like all American. And then who I'm in. But and then Buttercup became like the Shroud. It was like spawn and she was like in this like dark swirling like shroud cave and she's like I only go out at night.
Like I can't help you. I have to stay in the shadows. Like it was fucking and she like thought of her own like like spawn ass Batman ass like backstory of tragedy. That's pretty awesome.
It's a really good episode. When she calls herself like yeah like the Shroud or something and like there's a power that like they're losing in the battle versus the villain and she's like standing in the shade of the tree and she's like I'm sorry I can't leave the confines of the shadows. It's just you know got like the you know well before she's got like that the Christian bail voice. It's really good.
You know talking really should think about quitting smoking. Because I've smoked two and 23 minutes. It's a general statement. Oh.
You can sing for me. What? Why? Of course I'm concerned for your help.
Oh yeah I'm not. Don't you want to live a long and vaguely productive life? Mm-hmm. Not long no.
But I can live a short productive life. Oh yeah I'm just going to give you a dollar some issues. Well you know well there's a lovely piece of denial where it's like well my dad smoked season 60s for what I know he has noticed in health problems or someone would have contacted me if he were dead or dying. So I consider no news good news.
Okay I think we're going to move on. I don't think I'm going to pierce through your layers of denial over the next 10 minutes. Not even close. What if I just kick you in the shin and take them away from you?
I'd forget by the end of the podcast. Would you be threatening the cats? I threatened them anyway. Mm-hmm.
Oh, I knew moving. Got about halfway through it. You know it's really hard to make a clips movie. Well it reminded me a lot of movie 43.
The thing is what they did was they took like onion headlines and like kind of built a movie around it where it's about like the fictitious well not now. Now it exists but the fictitious like you know onion like news network and you know they just kind of every headline is like that's the sketch. Mm-hmm. And it just it didn't really like literally got halfway through and it's just like meh.
And it's got some really funny people but it's they're like relatively not well I think it was filmed like 2002. Yeah, it was filmed like a lot older. Yeah it didn't come out like 2008. But you had in quick cameos you had Paul Sheer you had Joel McHale and Jim Rash.
I'm going if these people like if you made the onion movie now with at least those three people in it it'd be hilarious. Yeah. But still, that's really funny because I can think the only thing that I really found the only clips movie that I actually really enjoy is still the Kentucky Fried movie. Which is what movie 43 was trying to be.
That was the fairly brothers trying to have like a modern one and it's like it's hard to capture that magic. Like I said I really like the Kentucky Fried movie. Catholic high school girls in trouble. See how it happens when they say out past curfew.
Apparently you end up chained up topless in an S&M dungeon being lived by a midget. Yeah. That's what happens when you say out past curfew. That ever happened to you?
No. I never broke curfew. You have nothing to do with my own. What?
There were past memories of ending up in S&M dungeon being lived by a midget. Ooh. That's going to be a few therapy sessions. Uncle, uh, was it Uncle, uh...
Uncle Touchy's Naked Puzzle Basement? Yeah. Oh. Take off your shirt and cry a little.
No. You cry. Yeah, that's right. See you're still isn't that bad.
Not a surprise. I didn't know that, um, speaking of Pat real quick, I was kind of researching a bit about the ending movie and, um, kind of getting a press like the article of Angelink Scott Ockerman talking about it and I was like, that's weird. I wasn't aware that Ockerman had anything to do with it. So I kind of looked up.
Yeah. Do you know that he and Pat pitched a network panel that never got picked up? Really? I kind of know what that is.
I really want to know what that is. Like yeah. Oh, oh, oh. Research.
What did Axe go up? No kidding. He's Pat and Sockering. He's a bookie.
Is that his character's name? Something like that? In X-Cop? Yeah.
Sockering. Yeah. He's a Sock Attack with his Sock Arms. Cause that's what a five-year-old would come up with.
It's a beautiful show. It warms your heart. It warms your heart. It warms your heart.
It warms your little black heart to watch X-Cop. I'm really psyched for the next season. I don't think you had a heart. I thought it was just an ashtray.
Have I shown you that picture of the heart full of cigarettes? Yeah. I think the file name is actually what my insides look like. No.
It's not a very happy picture. It's not a very happy person. Mm-hmm. Oh, we've done that yet.
Have you gotten the last track yet? I have it. I'm going to say, unfortunately, it's slow-goings because my computer is old and the discs are a little bagged up. Yeah.
I'll get you back to the first track over and over again. That is actually a mistake I made this week. Because the first track on the mixing made me is the Doctor Who theme song, I now list that almost every day when I leave the apartment and pretend it's the opening to my day slash show. You know what I'm talking about?
Oh, yeah. Yeah. No, so it's the theme music that gets me started on. You just walk out of the hallway and you imagine the wormhole telling your the tardis.
I'm in my head. I'm in my head. I'm in my head. David Tennant, still the Doctor, but...
You know, you're a kid. I'm getting this. You're right. I'm...
I'm thinking more into that man. I was kind of talking about I think times when I'm really warm enough to mess with it, especially after that a good man goes to war. When you find out that on another planet the Doctor means mighty warrior and it's like, did you ever think like, this is what you become and it's like, holy shit. He just broke his fucking brain.
Yeah. It's interesting though because on the mix that you've made, you put a song by Garfuckle and that I've never heard before. before and I put the mix I put the right mix and put it on my I thought and I'm walking to work listening to it and hand job blanch up I don't understand job comes on and I started laughing like a maniac because it was so funny people must have just thought I was freaking insane I walk to work I think I called you immediately I was crying with laughter yeah I end up putting I put that's my favorite song by that and the go-kart masturbation song are my two favorites by them and then I turn for the douche on my which is your favorite song it is but that's more just because I've worked in bars for so long a lot of times you can almost see the moments where things take a turn for the douche and you're like map I'm done with this for tonight yeah things to get turned for the douche yeah I'm gonna get my boss to put a rotation on some of the music we have do you want me to to tell you on on air what the last track is it ends with the venture brothers thing I was ready to do that did you give me the listing remember that's right you don't actually we should probably post that on the on the Facebook with a tweezer track listing for me sure I'm sad that they didn't know that'll be the September blog yeah I'm sad you didn't have this corrosion by Sisters of Mercy yeah but we saw what we saw was afterwards I tell you though the next good day I was at work I told you we have Sisters of Mercy station on Pandora and listening to that it took me back the only way is this is Mercy got on your mix is by it being a sister's mercy song but it was a cover I put the cradle of field cover of no time to cry because I don't like that that dark wave crap between you and my ex like I can't say I've never liked I've never liked my house but I like love and rockets that's weird yeah I just and some of those things I do I don't like I was in a mercy I don't like a razor I don't like I do like a razor so much I wouldn't yeah they're so awesome no they're not they are be a good thing for you good mashup for the for the YouTube is David Lynch David Lynch movies with that over let me pill it a razor head that's a good one yeah but I was gonna say but I mean always is the theme music for robot unicorn go the fuck is oh is that again robot you're gonna attack or whatever yeah and if you can unlock all the erasure songs I'd damn you know swing what because they know us yeah it was a fun game to I had the first one I get the second one I was I waste a lot of hours now you've been wasting a lot of hours playing games recently I'm still working on four pictures one song because they unlock some new levels very close to being very close to finishing it in a pair of ladies managed to get all of my friends addicted to it and since I'm farther ahead than them they're always coming into the kitchen and being like what's this yeah no yeah I um no I got really frustrated trying to beat all the stars on um plants versus zombies not giving up I just needed a break from from one of the levels and got into like a kind of what I thought was gonna be a throwaway game called jelly splash and I'm on like level 36 out of 140 something like I got like two days ago I'm just like yes but I think it's so mindless I only like puzzle games so no this is like you match the colors and you know I have to destroy obstacles in your way and all that kind of stuff slime guards and though I did I did get through the the weekly event on zombies ain't my friends didn't get didn't get the big battle acts I wanted but I did get the gas mask that gives you plus 12 energy so I'm pretty happy with that it's like real-time ranking so I lose rank when I'm like asleep because people in Australia are like awake and playing and you know beating my score and it's like by the time I wake up and you know play on like you know like 200 slots lower than when I went to bed and I'm like well I'm not gonna get that yeah but the gas mask that I'm happy with it's all right I'm thinking I would have rather like the gloves that look like bear paws the gator bear paw oh did you see that amber Nash is holding a pam provey cosplay no cosplay contest oh my god yeah I'm here all when I when I oh get some pictures and I'll send it to you or Google you know amber Nash like Pam cosplay what's the one about her auditioning be an agent this was on for another soul-gushing 27 minutes how would you know left the room oh god yeah bear pam gloves there were plus 12 attack from the bear with a knife in the bench brothers no no they look like panda hands are they from when Vince still freaks out and kills a panda and traffic thunder kind of okay I'm at the McCon hay things he's talking about the hooker a man that's probably not even her real name I got your T-vote hugger not all right all right all right it's good to see you in that movie oh my god Tom Cruise is less gross than was like the surprise like it was the dancing and the singing it's the it's the when he's talking about like swinging past you know better yeah no is his fucking yes man in his lackeys hilarious no it's when he's trying to quote unadgo shape the terrorist he's like I will cram your fucking head up your own dick hole like I said the dancing it was it was same same fun value is weirdly a Ben Stiller being fat at the end of dodgeball oh yeah I'm singing the milkshake yeah yeah for this tits yeah with his man tits but I have to tell you I think I highlighted that entire fucking movie it's still the previews in the commercials they do at the beginning for a Tropic Thunder because when they have Robert Tony Jr. Toby McQuire in with Devil's Alley I think it's like Devil's Alley or something like that it's just hilarious they're like playing with each other for Rosarie beads yeah and they have kind of what song is it the background it's one of it's one of the peaceful moods it's what do they call them the the months of yeah I'm in a dick team month but yeah I'm in a specific song that's same well you know talking about yeah they have that the background I'm in the movie theater with my then boyfriend he and I are dying yeah it just sets the mood for the movie and it's like winner of the coveted Iron Monkey Award winner best MTV movie awards best kiss oh that was so good and this Robert Downey Jr.
plays it so well because you just you see the intensity and the portrauteness in his face with his ice dragon eyes yeah I was gonna say that he's blonde in that one isn't he yeah yeah yeah he's blonde there and he's blonde at the end when he starts like when he's coming out of here yeah I'm not father or Molly not Neil Armstrong as we're distracted by traffic thunder and talk about yeah talking about we have army of darkness talking about putting phrases into your vernacular I mean you never go full retard sorry I'm in the back giggling like an idiot yeah it makes my eye water leak it's so bad too and you can do it really is just them taking a crack at Sean Penn and I am Sam oh and well I'm Tom Hanks and Forrest Gump and what's the one I know you at times and when we started trying to get the kid right um but now they saw you not rain man and Forrest Gump they weren't right I was gonna say I was gonna say charm is hell can count yeah never go full retouch never go full retouch because it's just this horrible mashup I am Sam and have my same man and you're like oh no and you've got his wife and their playing the I was gonna say that the love interest care good I think you've got a fine brain oh yeah what's your name McCormick he's Christine Christine McCormick yeah which I was actually just recently rewatching the wedding singer and she has pretty easy rolling that too she's a slowly friend I think her cousin actually oh yeah where she's like doing the thing with the French Friday she's like you know what I think sexy Robbie Hart yeah they're getting down to fucking China dough I believe a boy she's really funny because I love the George character in that movie you're supposed to be boy George oh they have like the keyboard is character I think he's actually named George I know yeah I was gonna say but I love all the gags they have with him doing do you really want to hurt me and everybody hating it well he likes well yeah yeah no it's when it's when it's when I was like a really broken-hearted he's just discussing all the losers of the different tables fatty lady side burns table five yeah he's on the crepes of table eight we'll probably never find love yeah you remember when that song of his became like oh I was a lot of care when I wrote this so goddamn joke I think when I think of you Linda I hope you fucking joke now it's the joke where he goes and take up an hailing shirt before the band they break up yeah and that's when I was like when a lot of my friends thought at first I didn't realize the homies in the 80s I thought it was like a flashback no but it's like it gave them such great jokes like that Van Halen joke like the other than they also have he was the lead in grandma's boy I can't think the actor Allen culvert Allen culvert yeah like I said he plays his friend who's the one who drive her and they have him doing like the michael Jackson jacket we're in the zipper yeah tell your brother Tio I say hey no it's the one he goes but she said she likes you really no that was one of the first times I think I really had heard the really no joke and then absorbed it into my body I was gonna say and then they have the Eastern European cook who success with Frankie goes to Hollywood yeah relax yeah which I'm sad we don't have it anymore but for a really long time my boss Philip actually had t-shirts with a bar that on the back set Philip says relax nice I didn't work there at the time so I don't have one but I really wish I did really well um so one of the things we actually found the podcast on was the fact that everything I love pretty much everything I love to watch and consume is both high ground and low ground at the same time yes like everything we can start with something that we talk about pretty constantly archer and then we'll follow up with something else we talk about constantly something so smart and so dumb at the same time I mean they make a Salvador Dali reference to what I was gonna say to her to pay out to no Cheryl's also live its name is the name is Babu after one of the ossolats Salvador Dali yeah yeah I mean that's that's could be probably considered a pop culture reference but I mean totally pop culture reference but to have things like that or when Archer you know sites like Howard Menken or like you know like you know highbrow or you know intellectual and academic writers yeah and then the same breath goes what is that door made out of Wolverine's bones what Adam Antium another one that reads the X-Men because I'm gonna make my second joke to that later on when he said it's like a combination of Adam Antium and something that the elves did in the middle of the myth roll that's right well because they're the other technician gets obsessed with Lord Marines but they also fucking tough shit anyway it's a fictional substance it's yeah but it's understood whenever you get mithril in Final Fantasy like oh fuck I gotta make some shit out of this when they added like crafting into like you know when you had like the mo the muggle workshops when they introduced that Final Fantasy 7 you're like well fuck I gotta get some high-end mithroll and mix in some like storm gym like it like the badass lightning armor at some point you're gonna have to fight an actual asteroid once again highbrow and lowbrow because you have to do you know basic chemistry and physics and stuff like that and you know stuff like that but you're also doing it for a video game where you have to fight me and ask right well Sephiroth summon the master but yeah please tell me you saw that birthday I was putting around the internet a couple years ago but I named the kid Sephiroth no what's it named after the villain why else would you name a kid Sephiroth it's a branch of the trail life in the Kabbalah it's not like it's a family name I'm Jim Sephiroth we named uh no the first name of this porcup the Sephiroth won't you call for short Seth okay or Seth okay but okay here's your fucking well would you consider this high-level if you're talking about Final Fantasy 7 I thought you're playing a video game but the writing is done so well that you actually cry when Eris dies you cry your final fantasy I got a little mister yeah when I actually was more impressed on the final fantasy is how well done the graphics player it was I think the first Final Fantasy geared towards like I think the PlayStation and like the that generation of what's the craftsmanship you know yeah they put a lot of craftsmanship into it whether it be visually or story wise story wise was like cool I remember I remember my friend Robin was farther in the game than me and I was like yeah man don't build her up and I'm like no way man she's at my best healer like I'll never die with her on my team and then she fucking gang sit and was like god damn it he did warn you yeah he did and he also didn't warn me about the fake fake station of fake system crash on Arkham Asylum I don't know if you do about this when you get to when you fight you fight the scarecrow and admittedly throughout the game and it's kind of like a mini like a mini game where you have like hide from his like fear games um that's G-A-Z-E not that he has like scary homosexuals running around it's his fear gaze and so when you get to the the third and like final time you you face him I mentioned that your days become like a scared you yeah what kind of like a scared you a scared you know they put up the scared you more way I think it's scarecrow Hitler oh god that's awesome um but uh no so you get to the notice one is a racist sunflower it's still be funny so you get I don't want to know exactly what it sounds like um no there's not falling hold that's what that's what not that kind of sunflower but I people but um please don't do that there's a chance I might throw up don't be black don't be black there's a chance I might throw up no I was gonna say it's literally a racist sunflower and he's yelling a cleave and hey boy boy stay off my lawn oh god I think he was like you're in it um sorry so you get to the I think that the premise is like it's a scarecrow crashing like Batman's like the sensors in his cowl but the way it plays out is you think your playstation just crashed oh and you've been playing like yeah it's like it's like 12 hours into the story where you're like no you're like what I got and Rob was like Rob knew about it with the internet and was like let me know when you get to the scarecrow on the third time I'm like you're sure whatever and he's like I just want to see you know what the levels of like oh it was like if you think people sing to cops and a girl was like that freak out like combined combined what did I say see if I'm worse it's just her pouring her own poop and everyone yeah but you mentioned the two girls reaction video but take that and then you remember the one where the kid that the mom turns off his wild account and it's slamming the keyboard he tries like ask for himself with it like you remember that yeah like combined that you have my reaction to I think my PlayStation just broke while I'm playing art on the silo and Rob and Rob is just I think like his face was read from clinching his jaw trying not to laugh as he knew if he laughed like not only would I forget even harder but I would kind of like a wait one minute like wait a minute but like I just made like his face was just clinched and then like tears were streaming down his face from just like trying to laugh and then it comes back online and like my heart fell out of my ass where I was like oh they good and then Rob's like I knew it what happened and I'm like you're a dick and I hope you get cancer yeah it's like oh well that's something that's smart done at the same time too that was really smart of them to do but your reaction to it's just ridiculous oh god I'm getting like I got a little thing to talk about it I was like oh wait just it's closing up thinking about it so I brought over our second watch like our first favorite topic my two brothers yeah well it's only our first favorite one let me talk about Dr. Hubert yes I know oh I know it doesn't stop me from the little Jenn why don't poke a bear duck who bear who bear well but yeah dr. brothers wants to get something that's so smart and so dumb at the same time well the who bear when it's got a tardis on the stomach and when it fires it's all riggles ha ha ha ha sound at the running a penny against an e-screen from the piano is it that would that is I'm gonna make them my ringtone later today okay but why is it that keeps using with the breaks out okay anyway doesn't make any fucking sense anyway so venture brothers very smart in terms of its satire it's so blood it's it's weird references to specific furniture they get it in archer too though yeah they do but no unless it's it's a level of not only like satire about the genre with Johnny quest but like the kind of the social satire as well and turn the tropes on their heads I mean it's very very smart he was gonna say the psychological the not phases that these certain characters go through the character I'm sorry that I'm just gonna say that henchman point of review the character are you know the old retired supervillain poor Johnny as gonna say for action Johnny who is just riddled with riddle on drugs and he's doing better now but yeah total fucking no wrong the one what is it the science camp one where professors Z shows up and he like flips it's like you told me Johnny wouldn't be here you told me you'd be cool the dr. Z man yeah like I said they have the the the the the former board boy adventures yeah yeah yeah with Pat not as well as his wonder boy that's also the episode where they introduce my favorite gadget ever but monarch the scary unit can it oh the one where you get the hands of the webs yeah the scary net the scary net can it man you just imagine I'm sitting around like okay we're gonna have him do this what should it be called the scary net like I said no I totally that's completely exactly how I picture it is that just getting around although they've talked about how they have a bad habit called the wishbook where they write down straight box that they want to happen and I imagine scary and that cannon being something they wrote in the wishbook at some point in time and they managed to work it in yeah they're like we need to be in the death trap hold on flip flip flip scary and it's also like they have their interesting thought out hierarchy of super villains and heroes and he was gonna say the bureaucracy that they have to go for the climate is yeah the guild I was gonna say and then now they have a sub guild going on which is run by a phantom lamb phantom lamb with the revenge society Tom B professor incorrigible you're not getting it and that's what's gonna build a leader taken over for Stephen Colbert what happened with that is like I think he just got too busy because he was yeah he was on that and he was on Harvey Bergman like I said I think it was just scheduling conflicts I don't know if something like contracts because he dropped off of Harvey Bergman before he dropped off of venture brothers it might be contractual but I like I assume it's just because he was too busy doing a cold air for because when he dropped off of burning because he was the voice of Kent saving after he left and they had like his twin brother come in or something you start seeing like the Colbert report like billboards and stuff around in the show is like a nod to like no I seem to just scheduling conflicts he does a lot I mean he doesn't just do the show he does like a lot of political stuff as well it's kind of weird no well well I mean it's like the Daily Show in the Colbert report once again a lot of the stuff they do it's really dumb but they're also very informative and talking about actual issues but what is that the average viewer of the Daily Show is more likely to have a college degree than the average viewer of the year before that makes sense it's totally true oh Fox News we talked about them last week if this isn't true and this isn't true then what is true yeah racist facts I know a fact could be racist thank you Eugene Riven that's interesting I didn't know a fact could be racist I was gonna say and one of our both of our favorite authors in the entire world his novels and graphic novels more hours smarting Tom yeah once again you have that kind of that era of satire which was trans-uch Paulathan my fault you might be the best political satire ever read it well yeah I mean if we're not I hate to say I hate to count Thompson in satire but I think obviously that was a stepping stone to trans-machitizing he's that cyberpunk how do I Thompson I mean you talked about I think smart dumb issue well I'll do this is kind of a two issue thing the television episode or the television issue or it's by just trying to watch his TV yes okay yeah he's got all the parodies of himself and he gets the air Jesus niggas and is that yeah that's one of the different it's got Eddie Russo and Brian hitch and I think I care in the wire draws her that Leah Hernandez is in it I was a real I mean it's top not fucking top not all aces in my book it's the bees knees can't be jealous but like I said everything he does it's so smart but with such a playful air that he adds you know there's still hilarious down touches but then you have like you know what is it they're replicator machines on drugs or something like that fuck you you piece of shit dope box I think is the quote I'll always remember the future even the machines are on drugs and he's pulling out and it's like don't take it away from me I'm listening to the grateful dead something about her one of his assistants assaulting this guy who's a Hitler sex midget that's more they escape yeah for the for the day it's just so random and then the newest one that he did but I think it's his smartest by far gun machine now if you keep a trans-map you have things like you know the sex midgets and the flying the flying clicker machines isn't that it that issue that's mentioned those exist no what the bow loose or gun the bow was ruffner yeah which I ended up ripping off for another idea where the gun the initial spot the crapper I think which I spent so long trying to figure out acronym for monkey yeah justice guys professor I thought yeah but no the the child pornography issue yeah heart wrenching poignant I mean and and and content I mean really sadly contemporary where you where do you hear about the you know when he's talking to the the curator the the guy that the director of the children's home he's like the parents don't want him they get cycled here they end up on the streets they've busted for something they put him back in the home but they go out and they do prostitution to pay for the fines and then they you know they're dead inside because of you know one cares and it's like that's just as as to some extent true now is it is in that comic that was written years ago and it's about you know in the future I believe that was up for an eagle war from now mistaken or an eisner I don't think you want the only award I know that Warren's one of Tom and his lifetime achievement award he was not happy with it in places going to die a week later I'm saying I snare like they have no I'm not that I'm and it's a it's an eagle a dicey eagle or dicey eagle and then possibly no well you won the lifetime for eagles is like the British eisner's but um so I'm the machine one's an incredibly intelligent it's a very smart book but they still have a character named bat who would hates me and humans so much that you're first to his body is what it back yeah yeah yeah yeah just one's gonna like a high-brow I mean you go well what what really could he say from the the voice bar from the point of view of a you know drug-addled alcoholic you know at the point in time when you've even kind of washed up journalist yeah and then everything from like issue three and on it's just I mean the first the first story arc of the angels eight right is is civil rights movement say it's a race right yeah although I have to tell you I think one of my favorite characters he's ever done was for Christ speaking the angel it's right yeah the chair like a truth is the chair like a truth of stupid you Frank what is the chair like it's true yeah it's just I'd like to see that as like an HBO series I really I think his ideal spider Jerusalem has gotten a little bit too old to play a lot of people would be a Patrick Stewart because he wrote the role for him basically he would have been hilarious and especially with all the stuff you see him doing the last few years with American dad like he has no problem delivering these horrific lines oh yeah I mean he's really kind of company's kind of another weird turn into comedy which is great well it's just really funny because one of the last I mean one of the things in American dad that pops into my neck or all the time is him talking about doing weird stuff but stuff that's like weird stuff but stuff you're like wow these are these issues I want to get to this real quick I know to you ever did you read planetary no it's on my hands it's on my end there's an up there's an issue where I'm a dual you don't mind spoilers it doesn't impose on the end but he doesn't he doesn't want to solve for the self-contained per issue which was huge over our huge you know the arcs but one has the death of a John Constantine character and as funerals all about vertigo characters and they're talking about how 20 years later they'll look silly and if I know the the Constantine character I think John Carter or something like that not to be mistaken again but against space dinosaurs but like I said I wasn't gonna make any jokes there but he turns out he's fake to his death trying to kill him and they're like well you're gonna go back to being like Constantine and you know you were like you know the heart of the 80s underground and he goes and he like kind of like strips down kind of the John Constantine trench coat and smoking up the silk cuts and all that yeah well he still smuts we'll get that and we'll get there in a second but yeah it starts flipping down like you know the trench coat ends up in a in just like a suit jacket and he's got the spreader drizzle machets tattoos and lights a cigarette with his head down like like spider does and he goes nope it's time to be someone else and disappears into the into the shadows and it's like it's one of those like worn worn Alice's thing like here was kind of where we came from and kind of here's where we're going or you know here's where we've gotten to like you know looking out silly but look at where it led you know so you know I took that as a criticism to Bendis's run a marvel which will probably get to next week's that's a really good topic I don't want to lose it I know we're running low on time on the internet told me I'm wrong yeah these are super quick the third but metropod London Metropolitan copy could not think of last week was was Steve Coogan it was Martin Freeman Bill Nighy and Steve Coogan and then the line we could not remember from world's end about what they were naming the blanks naming the blanks where we thought of no vods and blue bloods and there was the one we were like oh they say this line and the line was nothing we've said in the last ten minutes comes even close to smashy smashy egg men which I love which is a yeah like I said before we recorded will probably are dying words smashy smashy smashy egg men you know dead and then you know everything collapses at your ass um death rattle death rattle so um social contract asshole when I'm wondering downtown taking care of some stuff taking care of business as yellow it was that block my turn over draft is it a yellow or BCO or one of those abbreviation bands um the abbreviation for you to name to um they'd open for they don't know which doctor songs would be like half finished it would just be a series of letters you have to figure out what they all stood for okay um so with this time real quick um an idea that I'm not gonna say on air but I need to but how does some in the haunted this is one of you I may be all sure next week when I kind of flushed out the idea but um so I'm downtown I know I have my headphones in some hard person to reach verbally which that's the point of my headphones I think we talked about this ad nauseam yeah it's my arm is up you know my shields are up I've diverted all the power from the second coupling to the shields and you know leave me the fuck alone but now some people and this goes come on sing along the same lines as forced social interaction you know you could walk up to me and mine that you want me to bum you a cigarette or use my lighter you could mine that at me politely don't try to yell over what I'm listening to one I was probably listening to a podcast so it's not that loud anyway you know I'm not listening to slayer you don't need to yell and I'm hearing you over whatever I'm hearing but just like give me a second I please are like you know here's your liner to have a moment for the Lord sign my Greenpeace you know I can people of the worst man yeah I understand there are children in need our planets falling apart you're having a Nick Fit I get it you don't need to get a little bit you don't you don't need to be left alone I don't know it's just gonna be a dendom to that where it's like why the fuck one one you're yelling not like I hear you but everyone and I have block radius is now aware that you are that yeah that you were yes that not only are you yelling you're yelling at someone specifically like so you know like 40 people turn around to be like what the fuck this guy is yelling and then it's like I become the center of attention yeah and it's like being fucking proposed to on a jumbo trauma I don't want to fucking like a dick and say like I don't have a cigarette but at the same time really bad videos online like we have people getting rejected for wedding proposals well that's what they get for doing in fucking public you know like when I was gonna ask a girlfriend to marry me I've been kind of plotting it as it got closer and you know what I was gonna do in public I was gonna do it at a restaurant because you know what if she would have said no then I would have paid for the saddest meal on the planet actually I would have a concert she said no I would have fucking made her pay for it and I will fuck you like she left I don't think she would have gotten up and left we would have said sat in our awkward dessert and fucking and I'd have been like you're fucking paying for this it did so don't yell at people yeah I don't yeah and certainly don't yell marriage proposals that does not get a good idea to me talk to you next week who's that knocking at the door why it's our super villain friend of the show ice to meet you no we have some questions we'd like to ask you I'll be happy to answer them if I were capable of feeling you're a king of Newton Haven asked what are ideal caring some wines and meats beef a lighter red such as a Merlot work you know no more would be great issues an off-road reasoning I know it's all a young long in California but the young is in it but we're very nicely with you curry doc a Sir Robin France working California or with a Washington state Merlot and chicken a French border late not new vote or a Australian charade French in close for a try rose from Spain or southern France and of course I will always want to thank you for listening to the VACN your home for almost bacon and banjo
