15: Empowering Jewish Doctors: The Mission of the Jewish Physicians Network

Marc and Mendel started the Jewish Physicians Network (JPN) to address the need for a community of Jewish physicians. The goal of the JPN is to support the community of physicians and address their needs, whether it's fighting anti-Semitism or providing resources for healthcare professionals. JPN has grown to over a thousand members and has become a platform for education and discussion on topics such as practicing medicine on Shabbos. Marc and Mendel acknowledge the lack of education on financial health for medical students and doctors. They believe that a community-based approach, similar to healthcare, could help address this issue and provide personalized financial guidance for physicians. From the challenges of managing finances during medical training, to the importance of budgeting and understanding loan rates, and the potential benefits and drawbacks of loan forgiveness programs. They also touch on the changing role of physicians in the face of new technologies and the value of mentorship and community support.
