You hear it a lot in all spheres that someone has tried it and it didn’t work for them, so they give up and dismiss the whole thing as unhelpful. “Failure” does not preclude you from trying again. If meditation first thing in the morning doesn’t work for you, maybe try in the evening? If counting the breath felt like it added to your anxiety, try body scans or open awareness? If apps aren’t your thing, maybe classes or unguided timers are? To take an even bigger step back, let’s ask is the failure a result of not defining what success was? Did we expect one attempt to take away all our problems, or have us go from 1-10 instantaneously? Were we impatient with the results and expected too much too soon? I know I’ve been guilty of this in the past! I’d like to challenge you to look at something you failed at in the past and try a different approach again, rather than putting it in the “that didn’t work for me” pile. As John Wooden said, “Success is never final; failure is never fatal. It’s the courage that counts.” So let’s try again. If you don't know how, let's chat: https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php?owner=18248924&appointmentType=11286512
