#15 - Leila Arab, Human Memory & Creative Intelligence
from The Human Signal — with Laura Sheeran · host Laura Sheeran
In this episode, I talk through a moment in the studio while mixing a track called Simulacrum from my upcoming record, Skin and Bones. While trying to identify a missing element in the song that was needed to tie a particular section together, an unexpected connection was sparked in my brain between memory and creative intuition. It led me down a path revisiting one of my favourite artists in the 2000’s, Leila Arab, and think a lot about on how the human brain stores creative information over long periods of time. The episode also reflects on how an artists’ ability to hear, see, and make work can change and develop in unexpected ways, through gaining experience across different disciplines. It’s a personal reflection on creative trust, growth, and the difference between human intelligence and artificial systems. Here is the Leila Arab song I mention in the podcast This is a public episode.
