15 POIGNANT Lessons Learned From 2021 - #168

from YIELD Today With Dallin Candland · host Dallin

I had SO many takeaways from 2021. Here are some of the ones that I wanted to share with you though. I hope that they are helpful.Lessons Learned:1.      1:01 - Worrying doesn’t help anything, as time lessens the need for action increases. You are always preparing for what you will harvest in the future. Once you have a good enough idea of what you need to do next just take the thing down.2.      3:17 - The power of visuals – having images that inspire strong emotions that bring out your best is one of the best things that you can do. Giving your attention laser good things to bounce off of is a big play.3.      5:03 - The Need for Sleep – when you miss the sleep it is like you missed a plane, delayed, etc. I had plenty of overnighters and I felt the effects of them. Most of them were a waste of time – if you were stuck in an airport, what is the chance you would be productive? 4.      6:59 - Setting goals without a set, ever-evolving plan to achieve them led to LOTS of frustration. I set large goals but without good follow-up and remembering why it was a priority took it from a dream (wish with a plan) back to just a wish (less likely to happen).5.      7:46 - You MUST have something clear in place to replace something big you take out or it’s likely going to be wasted time. Basketball teams have someone in mind when they take one guy out, and this allows their team to keep flowing smoothly. 6.      9:08 - Trying to “get ahead” can lead to you falling behind – a lot of it is just about pacing7.      10:25 - Power of Playlists – Really can help you to get in a certain flow,8.      11:53 - These days are no less valuable than any other days. Super interesting to think about how what I did at 15 has influenced where I am now.9.      13:35 - Nothing is free – you are always giving time, thought, energy, space – you are providing help for them10.   15:51 - You don’t need to know what is going to change the game for you – I didn’t know at the time how much running and podcasting would help me, but I was curious in it.11.   17:18 - Creation inspires clarity – every single time. Creating for me helps me get to know my best self better and also get to know those I am creating the content for.12.   18:30 - You are not your thoughts – I had SO many not good thoughts about myself this year. I ended up giving into many of them which didn’t lead to good.13.   20:48 - Thoughts lead to circumstances – This to me is SUCH a powerful thought. I have heard over and over again that they led to your actions and habits, but the thought that they also lead to circumstances says a lot.14.   22:37 - “It only takes one good day to change momentum.” – Redge Allen15.   24:12 - If you do not review your past wins regularly, you may forget them.BONUS - 16.   25:56 - You can fool everyone, but you cannot fool yourself if you are being honest.Resources: "Where Will This Lead?"
