150. Pedro Patricio “Kids Don’t Die” & “Tirachinas”

Writer/Director Pedro Patricio at SOFF 2017 with his friend and fellow filmmaker Fei Yu. Filmmaker Pedro Patricio has been a part of the Discover Indie Film family from the beginning.  His film “Tirachinas” was a smash hit at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2017 and that film is in the very first season of the Discover Indie Film TV Series. Pedro returned with his remarkable follow-up film “Kids Don’t Die” to Film Invasion Los Angeles in 2020.  One of the best films in the festival, “Kids Don’t Die” pulled in the award for Outstanding Short Film – Sci Fi. Full disclosure.  When the Discover Indie Film podcast was just beginning in 2017, I recorded a phone call with Pedro.  He had to jump into a Brooklyn coffee house and ask for a quiet corner for us to talk, and it was wonderful.  And then a failed hard-drive left that conversation lost forever.  I have regretted it ever since.  It was a pleasure to finally get Pedro on the DIF mic’s again!  Although I confess that our previous conversations made for a shorthand here, so in this interview you do not hear as much about his background as you would have and should have in 2017.
