#1520 - Jeffrey Alan Lockwood

Jeffrey Alan Lockwood is an author, entomologist, and University of Wyoming professor of Natural Sciences and Humanities. Jeffrey is the author of "Six-legged Soldiers: Using Insects as Weapons of War" which is the first comprehensive look at the use of insects as weapons of war, from ancient times to the present day. Jeffrey joins me once again to discuss more of his understanding of Unit 731 short for Manshu Detachment 731 and also known as the Kamo Detachment and the Ishii Unit, was a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese. Unit 731 was responsible for some of the most notorious war crimes committed by the Japanese armed forces. It routinely conducted tests on people who were dehumanized and internally referred to as "logs." Experiments included disease injections, controlled dehydration, biological weapons testing, hypobaric pressure chamber testing, vivisection, organ procurement, amputation, and standard weapons testing.
