153. भिक्षापात्र को तोड़ना

श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं कि वैदिक अनुष्ठानों के माध्यम से व्यक्ति स्वर्ग में प्रवेश करने की अपनी इच्छा को पूरा करते हैं और दिव्य सुखों का आनंद लेते हैं (9.20)। अपने पुण्य के क्षीण होने पर वापस आते हैं और बार-बार आवागमन के इस चक्र में यात्रा करते रहते हैं (9.21)।  सामान्य व्याख्या यह है कि वैदिक अनुष्ठानों के माध्यम से प्राप्त पुण्य हमें जीवन के बाद स्वर्ग में ले जाते हैं और जब पुण्य क्षीण हो जाते हैं तो हम वापस आते हैं। एक और व्याख्या संभव है, यदि इच्छाओं की पूर्ति से संतुष्टि प्राप्त करना स्वर्ग में प्रवेश के रूप में लिया जाता है। अज्ञानता के कारण हम लोगों और भौतिक संपत्तियों की प्राप्ति के द्वारा अपनी इच्छाओं को पूरा करके संतुष्ट होने के लिए वैदिक अनुष्ठानों पर निर्भर रहते हैं। इस मार्ग में, व्यक्ति बार-बार दुःख पाता है क्योंकि बदलती परिस्थितियों से उसे कभी भी शाश्वत संतुष्टि नहीं मिल सकती है। सच्ची संतुष्टि केवल अपरिवर्तनीय स्व (आत्मा) से ही आ सकती है।  इसके अलावा, प्रकृति का नियम है कि हर चीज अपने ध्रुवीय विपरीत के साथ मौजूद होती है। इसे द्वंद्व कहते हैं। यदि स्वर्ग को सुख ध्रुवता की अनुभूति के रूप में लिया जाता है तो समय के साथ व्यक्ति दुःख की ध्रुवता का अनुभव करेगा। ये स्थितियां स्वर्ग से वापसी के अलावा और कुछ नहीं हैं।  श्रीकृष्ण आश्वासन देते हुए एक मार्ग सुझाते हैं कि जो लोग किसी और चीज के बारे में सोचे बिना निरंतर मुझे स्मरण करते हुए मेरे साथ जुड़े रहते हैं, मैं उन्हें योग और क्षेम प्रदान करता हूँ (9.22)। यह गीता का प्रसिद्ध श्लोक है जिसमे श्रीकृष्ण उन भक्तों को जो उनकी ओर इच्छा रहित मार्ग पर चलते हैं, उनको क्षेम के साथ-साथ योग प्रदान करते हैं (योगः क्षेमं वहाम्यहम्)।  यह स्वयं के साथ संतुष्टि का मार्ग है जिसे सांख्य योग में स्थितप्रज्ञ कहा गया है (2.55), जहां व्यक्ति अपना भिक्षापात्र तोड़कर सभी इच्छाओं को त्याग देता है। भक्ति योग के दृष्टिकोण से, यह भक्तों का इच्छा रहित समर्पण है जहां भगवान उनकी रक्षा करते हैं और हर तरह से ध्यान रखते हैं।
