Alright, we're talking to you. Yeah, we're gonna talk. Let's see my brand new mic. Checking the levels.
Let's see if it works. It's on our level. Good morning, good afternoon. Good evening, listening to the AllTalk Car Podcast.
New mic hosted by Peter O'Rowners. Joining me a pre-sema entree taste. Andros Mone's going to join me insema this year, but we're going to live-driving something really special. We're sitting inside, not just any Porsche 911 991, not just any turbo, but a turbo S.
That, uh, Andrea has picked up recently, and we haven't had a chance to get in it, so... ...fire away. Let's see what this thing can do. Good morning, all.
Yeah, great to be on the show again, Peter. As I was mentioning to you, I bought the car before we met overseas, so I haven't really done much in at all. It's something I want to sit down and do a fair bit of reading up on and do some trial testing with the different sports, sports plus features, all the suspension mods you can engage with this stage. But my initial feeling is that it feels like you get punched in the guts, you know, bend over, and then you get hit in the head with a sledgehammer.
The acceleration is just a drive. It's just a drive. And we haven't experienced it yet, because we picked up a circuit with plenty of speed holes. But anyway, we'll get to that.
We'll just look at the interior. It's traditional 911, but the car is galore. The 991 is the last of the new one, it's got all the digital dashes and the, uh, the bar screen. Ah, ah, ah, ah.
And that was just a tap. They're beautiful cars. They're pretty big. I mean, we're familiar with the 996 and the 997 and the 993, which is tiny compared to these.
This, me and Andrea, quite big. They're pretty roomy inside. They are, um, good seating position, good visibility out of them. The, um, finish is just spectacular.
No rattles or creeks. No. It's a really solid feeling car. And, um, you just give your lot of confidence driving it.
And I think I'm noticing the steering. I think it's this typical Porsche. No buttons on the steering wheel. It's just purely drive and, uh, listen to the pedals and the steering wheels.
You've got no buttons whatsoever. However, there's a little screen. It's this sport. So basically, does that light up when you change your mode?
Is that? It does. Um, I haven't been going to go into sports class because that's the function you use when you're doing your launches or you're doing track days or you want to be around the streets. Uh, it keeps the gears right till the red line.
So not really the city driving. Um, but yeah, light's up there just to remind you what it is. What do you read? You got all the luxury.
You got the heating calling seats. Ah, that sounds nice. That feels nice. Um, there's a lift button too.
Is that the front and the left? Yep. And so it's, you can drive around town. It's not, it's not a GT car.
Like we're, we're, the roads aren't quite smooth, but we're not feeling every moment. No. There'll be more compliant. The turbo versus the GT3s and your GT2s.
I've been in a couple of GT3s. And I've been in a GT2 RS and they're pretty rock hard ready for racing. Where this you can drive around the city. It's pretty, um, compliant.
Absolutely. And in the normal drive mode, it's even more compliant. We're now in sports mode. You can feel the suspension.
It's different. But definitely not bone jarring like, you know, GTR, 35 wasn't what I had. Yeah, I didn't get a chance again. I've been better than that before.
I've been in the podcast when you had the GTR. There was one car wanted to have a tickle with it another time. But yeah, the different car isn't it? It is.
It just feels solid everywhere. The finish of it, I'm really sort of happy with the software that touches the Alcantara. It just blends really well. You can see they've really gold out on the top 911 model in the range, shorter the GT3 type cars and loaded it with everything you can imagine.
What you said with Vision, I mean, if I'm looking at the 8D on there as well, the 8D on there is thick, but it's thick towards you. So for you to look out, you can see, you're not distracted. It wasn't like the old VE Commodore was wide, you couldn't see out of it. Where the really bullshit thought about the design, I mean the 911, everyone says, oh, it's a photocopied it, but put it 110% to make it a little bigger.
But there's more to it. You don't have to do a car like that. It's just a beautiful car. Yeah, I feel this sort of car.
I feel like I don't for a really long drive in and jump out of it at the end of the drive and feel quite relaxed. I've seen any positions good. Plenty of pedals are straight in front. I've said like the use of the early-night lemons.
But it just gives me the feel that you drive the Melbourne and jump out and you know, not really know you've done 800k's. Yeah, it's just, and you've still got the car, the old, the cup holders where they spring out left and right. And you want to go to the N9-2 yet, but the N9-1's were almost like the last of the old school and then it's just got all from analog to digital. Probably one of the things I really like on the car is when you look out the side mirrors, all you can see in them are the air ducts for the engine to be cool.
And you get the feeling that you're going to get sucked into one of those. Yeah, that's a turn. It's a turn, the N9-6 of course. It's a bit more circular.
So if I think this was Black Andrew, it would have brought off you to match the fleet. This is in a white, but is it a push name to this white? You know what colour is this? No, not, not officially that.
It's white. Yeah, you say it by the other colour options. That was the Tesla. I can't believe you're right.
It just pushes anything to see. It comes up, breakfast didn't come up. I've looked, I'm tempted to go out to Western Sydney, Raceway, or Eastern Greek, really cool. I can do one of those drive days and just get the feel of the car in sports plus mode.
The brakes, the phenomenal, the car, the ceramics of course. And I don't think I've ever got close to breaking hard on them. They just grab and you just hit the windscreen, but all the seats are falling back. I think the roll racing is just weird.
Yeah, I think this vehicle would smash the roll racing. I don't know how it would be but your GTSR, but it's a track weapon as well. It's a pretty luxurious car. Yeah, you can drink leave it in D and just puddle along.
You don't know what's under your foot. It's true. If you do hit it, you don't know what's under your foot. You'll get a nasty shock.
I mean, you watch a bit of that foot. So you enjoy it? Yeah, she loves it. I've got to say we went through a Porsche club drive down to Lake Alawara and went down McQuarrie Pass.
And it was wet and I thought I'll give this a bit of a run down there. Because you've got 90 degree corners there, so she came to sway down the cliff. Correct. I was going to try just to use the pedals for the whole run down, but those 90 degree corners sort of forced me to break.
But there was one moment when there was an athlete that forces behind me, including GT3s and GTSs and what have you. And I thought this would be a good sort of go to see a little bit of how this car works. And I'd come out of a corner and plant it. And I'd get three or four car lengths on the other cars in the space of about 150-200 metres.
And it was just so brutal accelerating away. And it's all about drive. That's where the GT, the GT cars I think they're not all right. So that's where you get that confidence in all weather, the sort of just the punishment that you want to do that to it.
And that tires play a massive role. I don't know what the GT cars come in, what sort of, probably pilot super sports are where they're not as trusty. Where are what tires you got on these? We should look up to it.
We should look up to it. So we get a cheap advantage. You get that throw in some more drive when they're wet. And you can drive it with confidence.
I think this is an amazing car. I love these. This is the next one. There was the rugby report I had a black turbo eschar.
I would have to spend the kids college funds. That's the next one. I've rung on the fleet. They're just phenomenal cars.
They've got the formula right. And that's why they keep building them. So we're... It's an all-purpose sport with a car.
Let's have another car. Let's see how it runs. Don't get me wrong. The performance 3 that I've got does all right.
This is alive. Everyone makes fun of me that tells a lot. You can understand it's returning from school runs. It's seriously getting away.
Yeah. They really get up and boogie their cars. Without any hassles. They'll take a few all the whole lot.
What's up, what's up, I've got a cure. Firstly, if you do that. Yeah. But not too bad.
I think I get about the 450, 500 Ks driving in sort of just normal. Podding along. No, it's not a sense. It's got all the carbon fiber in the right spots.
It's got a typical Porsche bun. It's got your roof and roof. I don't know if you've got your tight pressures. Just a lot more in the rear than in the front.
Is that any reason? That's just, I think, how the setup is. The setup is. The wheel drive setup where it shows you where the power is going.
Certainly through. So not only you're having traditionally you've got five dials. You've got your taco in the middle, your speedo to your left. You get pressure gauges on the far left.
Then they put the digital screen, the 991 on the right wing. And then the far right one is early fuel and temperature. So you're scrolling through. So it's a good setup.
When you've got the analog taco, the rest of the screen is all digital. And it's obscured by the steering wheel. It's an amazing machine. Yeah, it looks a lot different.
A lot different. A little bit squirmy. You can feel a safety net rung down. A little bit more to each other.
But still in control. We've got sliding sideways down the main straight. But, yeah, literally play with it. Literally there.
You do need to be on the track. It's not going to make a difference in the road. You have sport or sport plus on. Make incredible car.
It is just telling me the sport is a track. It's in a spoiler. It goes big on when you put in a sport plus. You get the front, the spoiler dropping down.
The other sport comes up over. And the screen tells you that's what wants you to want to sport plus. So that everything's going back to settle down mode. I'm looking forward to the US.
We're there next week. So we're going to be reporting. I'm not going to do daily shows from Cima. We'll be doing a few interviews there.
I'm also judging. So we're going to take this new fancy fancy bike and see how it is with whether it'll work at the judging panel. So we're not sure exactly what type of show to bring across, but there will be a multitude of shows coming out of Banda Senior Show from Vegas. We'll even have an extra normal show we've found out experiences driving out there.
I've got a surprise before we go to Vegas if I always say it on the show, it never happens. So I might have a bit of an American taste before I jump on a plane. To be advised, this might sound silly if it doesn't happen, but we might drive yesterday to fucking rain. So I've got a feeling that today I think we might be on for something special just to get in the mood for America.
And we'll probably do another show with the boys before I fly away. They've given me a hard time, but they're only just jealous. So thank you for listening. And we've got time for one quick goodbye from the Porsche.
We'll give it a bit of a bit of a ride. So there's a lot of fun cats which one everyone has to learn sometime. So good bye from me. And we'll be a good bye from Eddie.
And we'll catch up again in Vegas. We'll catch up in Vegas. So thank you for listening. Bye for now.
Bye.
