On the night of February 28, 1978 five young men who dealt with varying degrees of mental health and special needs difficulties ventured off to watch a basketball game at Chico State whils anticipating their own basketball tournemant that was to begin the very next day. After the game was over the men, known as "The Boys" were to head home but instead wound up in the Plumas National Forest where they had no reason to be and no reason to go, they abandoned their car and months later four of the five men would be found dead.
