1545 Exporting Criminals
from PRay TeLL, Dr. Hash · host Martin Hash
Everyone knows that Australia started out as a penal colony where offenders were unloaded and left to their own devices. It wasn’t someplace civilized people would want to live but for the kind of people shipped there, it was perfect. That kind of environment exists in several countries today, notably Haiti. There’s an excellent case to be made that long-term prisoners from the U.S. should be sent there. It’s not a unique idea, the cult classic movie “Escape From New York” represents exactly that scenario. It seems inhumane but no one can quite express exactly why? It would be a dog-eat-dog environment but many, perhaps all of those incarcerated would chose it if the offer was made. Being free in a war zone is better than being incarcerated in one, which is what prison is. The homosexual sex aspect alone would force most men to take any opportunity out, and everybody would benefit: Haiti would reverse its brain drain where anyone intelligent enough emigrates, the prisoners would be able to build a new life, albeit a brutal one, and it would export the worst people from polite society, as well as saving the government a lot of money, but no politician ever talks about it. Why not? What voting constituent would they be losing? Perhaps the problem is Haiti doesn’t want any more hardened criminals?
