They may live alone, their families may have moved away, and there are many other reasons why they don’t feel confident enough to get out of the house. It was an issue recognised some 27 years ago by what was then known as the Council of Churches in Portobello. They decided to get together to form the Portobello Older People’s Project. It started off as a lunch club but, as Porty Podcast producer David Calder found out, it now involves a lot of other activities as well.
