Welcome back to the Sports Radio and happy new year to everyone listening. It's me Ryan again, Mr. Buckfield, Will Hickey. Hey, what's going on guys?

2024? 2024? 2024 me and we've got a lovely, we've got a celebration, we've got a trophy to hand out and this is the Skate or the Year edition, so with Miles Silver's congratulations, skate or the year, 2023, we'll break that down, we'll have a little discussion about it, you know, and we'll break down the part a little bit as well, the city, the city part. Perfect.

I'll throw it straight into you, straight onto your lap mate. Yep. Do you think you deserved it? You know what mate obviously a little while ago was talking about who might have been in the running and I was in 100% sure I hadn't seen the recent miles, city to city part, I'd seen the Utah one and I thought that was pretty good, you know, and it could have been sweeping the stakes off a lot of people but after watching it mate, there's a fucking good part.

Lots, lot of switching that part as well mate. Yeah, there's a lot of switching that part and if you're an avid listener of turbo, you know that we like proper pro landings, we talk about, you know, if you see a clip of Antoine Dixon, legit pro lands on a bolt every single time. Miles Silver's got his own bolts because he's in a pocket, he lands every trick in both pockets, isn't he? Have you noticed that mate?

He's a bolt man, he's a, he's like an outside bolt man. That's where he lands all his tricks but it's, but every trick is landed that way. And I just think the quality of every clip mate is top tier so, Definitely the higher level. We can break down a few other contenders.

I mean even Tony, the part that he put out was such a great part. I absolutely love that part. We spoke, obviously we spoke about in the Christmas special. Great part.

He was never going to win it, you know, like you said, Utah was up there a couple of others were up there but this, just this part alone is eight minutes. So, you know, it's a big boy but the caliber like you said with a switch. I'll give a official turbo rating on the part after we went through it again just to get fully refreshed but it's probably going to be a high mark. Like you said, everything's on the money.

The trick selection from my OS is always been fucking perfect. You know, when are you doing a bad trick? You know, you're not being like, oh, it was done good but I'm not a fan of it. Everything that Miles puts out, you know, in the magazines and snippets and parts is a trick that you wish you could be rolling away from every time for me anyway.

So let's start breaking some tricks down there's a lot of them. That's switched back 50 down that steep hover, right? Down like a double seven or whatever it is. Switchback 50 is such a beautiful trick.

It isn't used that often. I don't know if you've ever hit a switchback 50, mate, or just a ledge. I've hit a few. It's one of the one that's on the switch grinds I can do.

The feel of it, it's such a lovely kind of, it's almost like a freeing kind of grind because you're a little bit, I wouldn't say it out of control but you know, your weight's not necessarily exactly where you want to be in a switch. So, in a front side switch 50, you know, you get it with a backside when it almost seems like it gives you that super power, this little super charge behind you and just just lets you go. Definitely. And the feeling that he would get going down the hover of that size would be incredible.

And the way that he dismounts it as well, mate, he's pinched. So, pinch dismount. This is his first clip and it's just, not many people, it's like you said, trick selection on point, spot on point, execution, perfect. So he's already got a moment, it's five stars.

Yeah, he hasn't, it's not stinky, it's perfect. Yeah, what are your thoughts on the switch? Switchback 50, man? And the thing is, yeah, with a switchback 50, it's such a squared off trick.

Like, we're looking straight at him, he got the square shoulders, the square hips. And, you know, I'm sure when you're there in real life, it looks so much bigger than what it is. Here's the cardio double set. But the drop off from it, when you see him come off on the first go, you realize how big it is.

And you know, as simple as a switch 50 50 is, especially for a big time pro, you can tell the elements of danger with it as well. And it just looks so good. And the speed, mate, if you have a skate street hub is which, you know, I haven't had the opportunity to skate many, but there was just one double triple set, sorry, triple three set in Barcelona, I was getting, I went for the classic 50 50 down it, but it was fucking fast and obviously it's nowhere near as big as this. And it was fast, super super icy, super fast.

It's scary. It is really the dismount scary and it wasn't as tall as this, but it was pretty chunky, you know, it was a decent sized hubber. Yeah, but it's, it's a different game. It's like, how big would that look?

If you were there, like, it'd be like not a chance. Like even the frontside 50 50, you know, for a regular skater, you're asking the at-pal-bomb, you're asking to slip off. There's a lot going on there. Because even if you've had this before, mate, if it's slightly round, which it looks a little bit round, you can start drifting up on top of that thing and then you get pal-bomb later down it.

Yeah. Or you can start, we're going to put your foot down and twist yourself. On the old backside, you can just, you know, when you're on the frontside, you can like securely lock yourself in, you know, with your weight over the ball of your toes and you heels digging in. When you don't have that perfect edge to cope in and everything like that, you can only grip so much on a back 50.

It's more body position and it really, and he's in there, mate. Yeah. And like I said about the dismount and where he's pinching, I mean, I've got a lot on pause on 25 seconds in where he's just got his nestled, his front foot in exactly perfect position, just so he's ready. It's in that grip point where all you need to do is just lift and he's already feathering that switch nose, you know, he's just in there.

So it's an awesome clip. But let's let's try and big boy land as well, mate. That's a big drop. Oh, yeah.

So we've got some nice cheeky little B roll here, mate, which looks pretty cool. Nice. A proper adi that's part as well. It is a proper adi that's part got some gold on there as well.

And then comes and he starts us off, mate, switch backside flip into a line, pings the tray out like no one's business. Beautiful tray. Lovely. Backside, nollie over a plant pot and then absolute beautiful switch flip.

Perfection in his and impacts up with the switchboard, mate. Yeah. So already he hasn't lost any, there's no points lost. You know, he's already, he's maintained in the five star.

Oh, yeah. I think this is how we should do it. This is what we do, mate. We'll go through as quickly as we can.

We don't want to bore listeners, but we want to break these things down because it's important. This is great. What are we talking about? Oh, yeah.

Let's see if he mess if he'd be disgusts us at any point. If there was a wrong move, but at the moment, there's no wrong move for me. And the king that bottom of that handrail, that switchboard slide, that's asking to get face planted into that rail. God.

Let's keep us moving. Let's keep us moving. Perfection in the nolly flip. Backside hill flip.

Yeah, hasn't messed up yet, mate. No. I don't think I was him with the kickflip nose right there. I think I must have been one of his homies.

I mean, that backside tail slide mate 270 is just a thing of beauty. That's exactly what we do. Oh, wait, come on. That's 270.

On a curved ledge. What's the name of that place? I always get it mixed up because they named it in skate like third an army or something. Is it something?

Is it something that may be the place? But they call it second an avian skate. I can't remember. But whatever people know what we're talking about, it's got the big big white rails on top of the ledges.

Some San Francisco spot. Oh, does he have? Is that like a big spin into that as well? I've missed that, mate.

What? Into the tail slide? Yeah. On the curved ledge.

One minute 35. Yeah, big spin. Big spin. Sorry.

I didn't see that. I didn't see the big spin there. Perfect. Perfect place for a backside big spin into a rounded backtail there.

Exactly. The shapes are all there. He's just replicating the shape of the spot in this trick switch. Yep.

He's maintaining, mate. And then we flip backtail to perfection into a hillbom. Boost. Boost a kick flip.

Rides it. Flip feeble. Flip feeble, which is a super strong trick. Bless us with the frontside.

Flip mate. Nice and perky. Rides it. It's nice and smooth.

Let's switch. Flip back. See? He's such a balanced skate, mate, with his switch skating.

He's just a beautiful switch, Ollie. It's one of those ones when I matter how you know what stance he is, halfway through the video, you're like, what's that fucking switch? Yeah. But I feel like it's all of these clips of his switch is like, wow, he's almost like, wait a second.

Yeah. He's definitely on the guard level with cleanness. Then he hits it two minutes and well, two minutes, five seconds, whatever. He hits that five-oh down a big boy handrail, which is almost like a zero, you know, that's a zero clip right there.

That is, and if people want to talk about five-ohs down, you don't see a lot of five-ohs down around rail handrails for a reason. And then, you know, sneaks out in between the gates, though, he has that five-oh. And that second angle at two minutes and ten seconds, mate, you see the size of that spot and actually how narrow the gap is in between those fences. And you're right, you know, who do you see doing big balance five-ohs and round rails?

Niger, the other people like, you know, big chomping rail skaters. Then comes in, perfect, back bigy mate, rides it, serves it out, but like the style, really like the style. Nice, nice B-roll there. I don't even know what you call that, Drake, in this line.

Then hits the opposite of it. And we're hitting super tech in a three ending with super tech in a three-trick line there, mate. Yeah. He's risking it all.

He's risking that cheek. He says like, I'm back, like, back when I eat a... That is like a five-oh, isn't it? Yeah.

It is like a... Yeah, thank you, five-oh. Back around, back to regs. One push to get himself going.

Back five-oh, swing round, frontside, one-eight, which is a really... I think that's a talk about trick selection again, mate. That's a really... That's a lot harder than it looks.

To get it down real quick. To ping it round that quick, exactly, and look that accurate. And then just foot position is ready, primed, switch heel, switch nose, shove out. Oh, perfect as well.

Absolutely perfect. Don't think that's not him, the rock on the hook. Back clip, two-fakie again was the right move, huge handrail, not a backside flip. It's one piece, and then we're...

Is this a Philly mate? Yeah, this is Philly. Yeah, this is Mooney, isn't it? Yeah, that's it.

He's getting some tricks there just before it. While we can. Mate, let's just go back to three-minute, mate. And let's just break down on that switch heel.

Because if we're talking about Stevie Williams back in the day hitting a great switch heel and the great switch of Reaver Midair, it's pretty perky that switch heel, right? Oh, yeah, that's that line switch heel just sucks it up in the last minute as well. And the shoulders are right, you know, everything's just right. Perfectly leveled board goes, lands of just as much speed as he leaves.

And then it's a handrail at the end of it, mate. Switch, switch from crook. I mean, that's crazy, that was an incontension for a tricky year. The, uh, the Nolly Flip.

Back clip. Back lip. Just floats lovely over and just gets in there so smoothly. Huge backside heel flip.

Yeah, huge. Absolutely massive. It's nice to get these, uh, these double triple angles, mate, because you just, you pause, if you pause at like three thirty five, you see the size of this spot and the height that he's popping and he just, just sucks all that impact up, mate. He's got the athleticism to do it.

Where we coming up to now, we'll just, just get a few, a few bells and it's just showing that he's putting the working, you know, some broken boards and we're back to color. Nice little transition there. But he's, he's almost, he's one of those, I'm just going to pause it here, mate, at four fifteen. He's one of those skaters that although he's like super trendy and he's almost, you know, this is called like today's fashion.

But when you can handle business the way he does, then it's like, oh no, he is authentic in his fashion. He isn't just a, he isn't, he isn't a poser. He's making, yeah. And like, he's of this era.

So he's going to be wearing, you know, the best choice of skate clothes that he's going to be getting. He is that Adidas, you know, style skateboarder of today. And, uh, you can't knock him for it because of how, like you're saying, he, he just goes so high. Obviously, you know, we're seeing the bales here.

He is putting in all the work. Yeah, you can't lend shit like that, mate, without trying to do a thousand of them. Yeah. You can't hit switch heels like that without breaking that trip.

Day in, day out, getting just perfect in those guys. This is really, obviously, Miles Silver's has been on the cards of being a super skater for probably the past five years, maybe, maybe even close to 10 now. But this is a real polished version. He has really perfected the skating he does.

Yeah. And I think obviously we're from an era where the video part in, in a video was important because you'd remember the video and the part. You wouldn't just remember the skaters part. You know what I mean?

There'd be a couple of reference points. Now you don't really get it. It's just adding that part. But he's got a catchy name.

So you'd probably remember that name. And it's a different era. You know, it's just how it is now. You know, we've got these, these YouTube parts and these, isn't it parts.

But this, if this came out in 2004, mate, or whatever, I'm not saying these tricks, you know, whatever the top tricks were at the time. It's going down the same way people are going to remember him. Oh, yeah. This is just an undisputed part.

This is just a declaration that, yeah, I will, I am on the same level or near on the same level as. And it's hard to say because we're, we're the old heads now looking, you know, looking at our, our market, our artosari, Jeff Rowley, Tom Penny. But it's, when you, when you check him out, it's like, he does hold his own against all of those. You know, he's a specialist skater is super tech, super handrail, super gap.

He's got everything. He's got the golden primitive vibes, you know, he's got it all and he fits in with any of those guys by just having perfected what he's doing. Yeah. You know, I hope he really, he stays with primitive.

Yeah. I really hope that he just, he's happy with primitive. He rides primitive and he, you know, he just stays there until the end. That'd be sweet.

I like it when you stay on a team, you're known for being a prim, because he is, you know, primitive is the top tier these days. And it is anyone who disagrees with that. They don't really know the calibers here. Chagga Lemos, P-Rod himself, Wade the Sanamo, you know, you've got the biggest of the hitters.

Obviously, we had Shane O'Neill was, was in there for a long time. You still have Carlos Reparo in there. You know, some super, you know, Robin Niro. Yeah.

You've got top, top tier skaters and he, he isn't that super team now. He is, he's, he's a mainstay. And it's just, I just like it. I like when you're, you know, you represent something, you just stay with it.

Yeah. So it's, it's, yeah, it's really cool to see. But let's, let's jump back in, mate. Yeah.

Let's just break. Let's just love a little talk about that switch flip because that is insane. If someone just did a regular kickflip down, down that set of four minutes, um, or four minutes, 15, you'd, everyone would be, uh, raving about it. That's switch flip.

Carver picture, mate. Yeah. Yeah. We're in the, uh, Chicago Ball shorts there as well, mate, which is pretty cool.

Yeah. Straight into the road on the with the shorts on. And mate, how perfect, you know, like maybe some people these days, they might want to see a bit of a tweak switch flip, but when someone busts out like a perfectly level flip of any kind, let alone switch with a big drop over a handrail or the side of a rail, Jesus Christ. Yeah.

People might want to see a bit more flavour, but he could you get any better? No, I don't think so. You know, obviously, some, there's some people who are extremely consistent these days and will do a trick a handful of times, even though they might not need to, they're just, that's like a person. And I don't think any skater could look at that.

No matter how fucking good they are and say, oh, we could, you know, you could do that a little bit there. No, you could not have improved. I don't believe that could be improved. And that gold board mate as well, we just, it was a right board for it.

Cherry on the top. Let's carry on with this line. So, and the thing about this line, which I really love, mate, he's using these tricks that you, you kind of use when you're just skating around, but you don't normally get to see these in lines in the actual cut with the nonnie hill up the curb here. You know, you don't get to see that a lot.

People using the tricks to get himself, you know, you did a little bit back in the day more, but not, you know, not, not nonnie, nonnie hills. And then, hoof in the front side, why don't you mate, up in front of him? Yeah. Like the little, the little Kirby two set thing, whatever it is.

Like his, like his outfit here is, you know, kind of matching the spot as well. Great out and he's kind of a white. It's, it's pretty cool. Yeah, you're right.

It's, it's really cool to see a lot of the A to B clips, I'd say, like, you know, those are really showing your street skills off it, you know. Yeah. Yeah. You got it.

And then backing up with a fakey flip, mate. You know, absolute perfection. I've got a pause at 442 here. Look at the landing.

Look at the landing. This is what I'm talking about. 442 check his landing out is in the pockets of the pool that in, that's that in bolts. That's his bolts.

That's miles, silver's bolts. That's inside that because it's nice to land things in there, but he is that is every single time for him. He isn't just, he isn't just solid bolts. He's always tucked in the pocket.

It's in full control. Like bolts is a great, a great lander. If you're off angle, if anything is off, it ruins it because you can't do anything about it. You can't tick to act.

You can't do anything. You can lean a couple of degrees either side or wheelbait. When you're, when you're landing like that, he's probably got a little bit more play, but fucking hell. Like he's, he's got the full control of the board there.

And just goes, yeah. Yes. It's awesome. Super long backside towel slide, flip out, perfect, perfect.

That's almost like a throwaway. Yeah. And then back up with the SSPSTS big drop, huge drop, and another one with a big spin out, which is ridiculous. Pingzy, from the Nolli Hill, midline switch tray, which is a declaration of war and saying that I am popped here.

And then back up with a perkiest. What do you think about that? Mate, like, I'm going to have to watch it a couple times. You know, he's pushing, switching, pushing the speed up into it.

And, you know, when you get that second angle of that fakey tray, it's just full extent. He's putting the power in to get it done, you know, only just kind of clears it because it's a big fucking, you know, it's a decent fucking fakey tray. And what a nice one is. It's so perky.

Yeah. For a long set. And that's obviously quite a hard trick to throw down. You get a distance.

You'd always expect a slower one, just to kind of let it flow a little bit. Yeah. And it's almost like, you know, that he doesn't have that option with the size of the set, but he still gets, you know, the full extent of the tray as if it was to be slowed down his feet. Every part of the shape has shoulders, his feet.

And then when he lands, you know, if there was a straight line off the stairs, set down stairs to the floor, he landed on it. Carry on. Yeah. Next clip.

Beautiful golden rail here, man. Backside Nolly Hill with a nice sicker job with the street, the Spitfire, sickers, the green Spitfire, sickers. Well, it's a classy job, mate, classy, classy number, but kind of alley-blind side over the rail, you know, it's behind him, which is crazy. You know, just for anyone, you know, any caliber of skating, imagine just, you know, say if you're backside Nolly, just backside Nolly isn't as strong as you want it to be.

Imagine doing that over something behind you, rolling up to behind you. And I don't know if you've ever done it, mate, but it's happened to me where sometimes you'll try and do whatever something and it will kind of catch the boards and it'll take your heels out. So you will get mini little powerbomb, you know, because it takes it knocks you off. Yeah.

So the danger factor on that trick alone is heavy. You could, you'll go down on a heap, because obviously he's pinged his heel out there as well. So he's almost, you know, he's left the board. So when he, if he were to come back on the board and still hit, he's in a world like that's a awesome back heavy kind of straight down.

Yeah. But lands absolute perfection, gives us a double angle and really shows how straight he lands that. Really makes, really shows you how impressive it is to go that little extra, extra degrees and just be in full blind side. Is that a switch hurricane, mate?

Is that a hurricane or a sugar cane? Some sort of cane? Yeah, it's one of those canes. Yeah, it's a cane.

It's the switch, switch cane down there. It's a cane hurricane. Just cane under the undertaker and cane. Yep.

But very nice done. Yeah, perfectly done. This clip is awesome. Absolutely love it.

You see, just a classically trained backs I've lit mate with danger, but just the look, you know, just the overall kind of vibe of this kind of spot. As a non-skater, you know, you're seeing a mum with a with a pram going past checking amount, you know, people are going to be like, he's jumping over some water. So it's one of those heavy hitters, but it's a big drop and it probably is pretty crusty on that landing as well. I wouldn't say that's a smooth landing at all.

Yeah, no, that's it. You know, you've got the weeds going out by the back of the building. It's definitely definitely got some age on there. And if you think a lot of you know, if you've ever skated near near the seaside, whatever mate, it's normally pretty, you know, the road is, yeah, it's, yeah, it gets webered pretty easily.

So, but yeah, such a perfect, perfect trick. And he's like, I'm like an sloppy hair as well mate. I'm a spoken about it's floppy hair, but I'm liking this floppy hair. Now he's got my Jackson Lacan with a bullet as well as a jacket.

And his skeleton gloves. Yeah. But mate, that's which he'll. Yes, yes, it's again, can you can you can you do it any better?

And I bet that the speed of that in real life has got to be quick. Oh, yeah, you're not making it down otherwise, mate. Yeah, it's a good distance. No, a little bit of your role.

And now we are. Oh, this is so this gap. I think the I wouldn't say the first time we saw it, but I think Mason Silver, when he kind of had his real heavy hit part, I think won him skate really year, couple years back, he was he was reading this. I think he had it at the start of his element part.

I'm pretty sure, right? I'm trying to think what you got over it. Like a full cab or something or I can't remember. Yeah, I honestly don't know.

But Miles taking it to the degree because is there a harder trick to kind of throw over anything down a switch straight. That's your special. That's your Johnny Layton. That's your specialist trick.

You know, switch straight. You're in all sorts of like, especially first, someone who can't do them. But I know the foot position. I know where you need to be.

It's you're not you've got no like you have to be certain again. We're talking about like someone who's done this a million times. That's what straight. I was in thousands of times.

Well, you know, if you can think about your trick that you've just got, you know, any of our listeners, or if you don't have a trick, something you can just do something you can just do. It could be a video game. It could be anything. It could be shooting down a range mate.

It could be something that you're just you're good at. That's how he can do this switch straight. It's just muscle memory and he's just absolutely hammered it into his soul to throw over something like that with, you know, hang up potential big style. You know, he could be kept at that mate.

He's eating a dirt. He is just because he's going fast. Obviously, for the switch straight, because make sure he's always going to get there because obviously he's not going to have the same height he would have in a regular tray, even as a big boy. He's not going to have the same kind of like, even like your, you know, like your, your forward jump mate and tricks.

You know what I'm talking about? You know, you're almost forward shifty that you can kind of gain, gain you a yard if you need to get over something. Yeah. In switch straight, I don't know how you would even like add that into the switch tray, the gainer, you know, kick the bite.

Yeah. You can bang it forwards a little bit. You know, you can just you just dive it. And you like jump forward my men.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You kind of do it.

We're doing chicken heads at the moment. Listen, we just we're shifting our weight down forwards. Yeah, exactly. But to kind of put that into your switch straight technique over this guy.

So could you imagine, you know, obviously, triflipping triflipping over something, you know, like a like a drain or something. And you know, you could he's got that switch tray down so much that he's pinging that forward off of his back scooping pop foot to get that fucking high. Get high and and to be, you know, long. Yeah.

It's a double bit. It's awesome. A lot further back in the time, you know, when like seven or eight years ago, at least popping triflips forward up like a stander curve, you know, I could do that, not every go. But to get that, you know, it needs to be your trick.

You need to be hammering it out and really, and to do it over a gap like this with the speed landing down downhill, you know, that's so much involved that, you know, he's he's got these switch trays on the lock and it's not just a switch tray like it's a perky switch tray. It's a cracking pop in switch tray. It's a zingamade. It's a big zinga.

Yeah, zing zang's a rue. You know, it's it's everything. It's just like it's just super perky. And it's just there's no within.

There's no within, you know, that it would be an impossible with. You couldn't you couldn't with that, mate. You couldn't with it. And then this this trick this next trip down this hubber, I'm sure we recognize this hubber from from others, you know, other parts, but you know, I can't recall them.

I'm not going to recall them, but to hit switch front blunt down that the danger, yeah, exactly, make the danger that ice to get that shoulder to tell your shoulder to come switch shoulder leading shoulder to come back and open. Like I can't even I can't even comprehend it. Yeah, it's the vulnerability for me. It's like, as well as your shoulders, put in your hips and allowing your your weighted back foot to be sideways and have no weight on your front foot and pushing your back foot weight out away from yourself.

And to get the height and be above on top of the hubber. So, you know, there's no kind of like little side pinches of this. He is fully fully into this, you know, blunting on a flat surface on top of that thing. Yeah, I just and on no muck about ledge.

Yeah, yeah, crazy, crazy hubber. So, yeah, big switch front blunt. And you can tell it, you know, he probably struggled with it, because he had to ride down the curve. He didn't just lift it, did it?

He had to, because he held on. Yeah, he did. Yeah, still not losing any marks, but just showing you how hard that trick was. And then when I first got to watch these as it's like as ending pieces, I was like, we'll see the other pieces.

But then when you really kind of start breaking it down, you'll see in a thumbnail that these kind of the opening tricks that we kind of see. The sheer kind of weight size, everything about how heavy hitting these these tricks are on this particular type of rail is this is up there. This is right up there near the top of like what people can actually handle. Yeah.

And the speed rolling to to and from that, you know, you can just see the angle of how steep that hill is as he's going away. Like, well, yeah, I mean, he's gonna have to hit that fairly fast. Me, you can just like jump on top of that rail because you're gonna get eaten alive. You have to you have to kind of match that speed to actually safe.

So he's already probably going it, you know, close to 20 miles an hour pushing probably 15, I'd say, something like that. Yeah. He's already then lands in a hill bomb at that. So he's hitting, you know, he's probably hitting 30 down there.

Oh, yeah. You can see the speed just gain and get instantly accelerating as soon as he lands. And then just the, I just love it. It's almost a throwback to Bastion, salivance, you know, hitting the flip frontboard side down a beautiful rail in the, I think it was in Sorry.

I don't think it was in really sorry. But you know, it's a blur, you know, as long as I go, people as long as I go. But it's such a beautiful trick. You know, flip frontboard is up there for me.

You know, I love seeing it. He just floats right out of it. Yeah. And you know, I suppose he had to land into regular, right?

Yeah. And it was, he was right under regular because I think the drop size was, it was, it was the right sort of size to come back, come back to where he came from. But if you had come to faking and pill-bombed it, Jesus Christ, like, yeah, hitting that flat bottom of like, where the road, you know, going down the pavement and then where the road kind of flattens out. But again, if you're in switch in that situation, you could get into road, yeah, you get into road rash with that.

We'll just give some shout outs to the, uh, Filmers and the, the music. So City City, filmed and edited by Justin Albert. So fair played your Justin, really good job. Really cool on brand, you know, made it an early, that's part definitely, still kept his primitive vibes, still kept, you know, spit-fist because then there was well, he did a good job, Justin.

Fair played, yeah. And I think we've got some additional Filmers there as well. We're trying to give him a shout out if we can. The list isn't too long.

Let's have a little call B roll though. Yeah, yeah, Brendan Biel, must be let you mate, must be, but, but Biel must be, you must be a distant cousin. Chris Mulherne, uh, Matt Schleier, Schleier, I'd say, yeah, Dan, it's a zab-slee, zab-slee and Matt Mullen, I can say that one. Fair played, you boys, everyone hits them.

All the clips are sweet. So, and, and we had the guests of Mika Adamov and Jonathan Perez. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Jonathan, yeah, we know him. Yeah. Just, just Turn Pro. Yeah.

Sorry, I didn't know, he had the Turn Pro. Just hit the team. Yeah. Officially on the, officially on the primitive team with an awesome frontside flip, by the way.

Music, MacDray, Uninvited, featuring the Lou, Libby Crew, the Libby Crew. Yeah. Cool. Good dream.

Good dream. Yeah. Works, works, works, works, great. Yeah.

I mean, and we've got too short, getting it as well. Uh, we always kind of, you know, break down the music. Sometimes it, it's, it's underwhelming. Sometimes maybe it's too powerful.

I think it's just right, mate, but his, because it's skating such a high level, it didn't really, he could have had anything on there. He could have done a PJ, he could have done a PJ lad. Yeah. And, and not worried about any music.

Yeah. He'd have got, he'd have got away with that. Yeah, definitely. And then we had Electra-ass, Electra-ass, Meat's Fresh Kid.

I don't know which tunes are which in these people, but you can do yourself, you can figure it out, you know, just typing those names on YouTube, but those are tuning you like to maybe stick it on the next time you try and go and hit her, switch back somewhere. Yeah. Let's get back into discussion of Diddy's though, mate. I'm just gonna put my two pence in there, if you will.

Yeah. I just, of all the skating we've seen, there's been some super, I will use the word gnarly even though it's not normally a mob vocabulary. There's been some super gnarly skating this year, some awesome video parts. I just don't think, this is almost like a March 2-2 Verso situation where someone's hitting it such a part that it's, can you really kind of, you can't dispute it?

Yeah. Although he hasn't hit a load of parts this year, you know, he had his, I think there was that testing part that he's laying the law down on this. And I don't think you can, as an eight minute part with the weight of these tricks, you can't really, it's almost like we're Nigel, Nigel, I think Nigel's part that year probably could have, you know, dropped out of the calendar. Yeah, we thought that he had taken it.

Yeah. And I think this is where someone shows you these skills. You can't, you can, who's hitting this stuff? Yeah, exactly.

Some might be hitting faster, bigger, but they're giving you eight minutes of perfection. And like, yeah, this wide variety of perfection and operation in the streets, like he hit the big stuff, he hit the small stuff, he hit everything in between, all of them, which will basically flaunt us, you know, in his style, you know, like we know how good Nigel is, but half of those tricks he's not being able to replicate because that's not his forte, he is a big, big, big, big hammer guy, you know, and he's got the tech as well, but this is on a different level. Yeah, it's like we're talking about, you know, that line where he hits the back side, 180, 50, 50, 50, then hits the, does he come, does he come back around on that one? Then he hits the back back side and then the switch he'll switch he'll know, shove it out.

Yeah. Like, and then he's hitting a massive five, over then front side, five over down a handrail. Like he's, he is getting covered in the bases. He is covering the bases.

He is covering, and you can't, he's like saying, well, I'm getting all of this. I'm doing all of it. Yeah. Who's hitting this?

You know, John D. Lamont Emonomannies, you know, we didn't get into a lot of mannees in there, mate, which is a manny man yourself. You disappointed you didn't get as many mannees? Because I think he's got mannees.

He's got mannees. So I can't say like that. Not at mannees. We had a, we had a muni manne.

We did. We did. We did. We did.

Thank you, mannees. Thank you, flippa, fakey flippa mannees and like that. Yeah, something like that. Yeah.

We'll take that. Yeah. But I'm just, long when, when, when we're, when he's saying, I think he definitely deserved it. 100% of everyone on the list.

What I will do right now, oh quickly, if I can, get the contenders up and we'll just have a little kind of chat about it. I do remember Mr Shanahan being on there and that was where my boat went. Yeah. And a lot of, he had good year.

Yeah. And he had a really good year. Yeah. No doubt.

He's very active. Again, can you, can you really, I'll just go to find this mate because there's no point in going with the contenders because I'm a fucking trash and I'll get myself in trouble talking shit about certain, you know, I don't even talk about it. So we had Pedro Delvino and always turns up for part this time of year and always tries to throw it down. We just need to see more of him.

I think we really need to, and it probably doesn't help. I'm trying to think who is, who is, who responses are? Pedro's response. Like, who is real or something?

Real or yeah. I just don't think we then again, we've known miles for a long time now. You know, I mean, we, we, so it comes around, but we're Tony and Tony put it down. He laid a great part down.

You to put it down. Tom Knox has had a great year and a really good year. Yeah. He's had a real, like his last part was really fun call definitely pushed personal boundaries.

Yeah. Jack O'Grady has been killing it. It's annoying that we haven't had to kind of like, we'll never, we've got to met up mate and put and laid some audio smack down. If we will, we haven't, it's never been when Jack O'Grady's released in a video part, but we apologize Jack.

Some of your, some of your, you know, crooked grinds down the biggest shit imaginable have been so impressive. So he is definitely up there in contention. Rob Pace, I'm going to be completely honest. It passed me by this year.

Yeah. Me too. John Shanahan, who I thought laid some law down. Yeah.

He really, really put some, he was up there, but when you're up against generational talent like Miles Silvers, who's going to go down in history, it's being one of those, one of those, and he's only going to get better. Right? This isn't, he could, he could hit it back to back. He could definitely hit it back.

If he wanted to, if he wanted to hit it back to back, Miles Silvers could hit it back to back. And so that was, that was their contender. So I think, if you really kind of break all those, all of them down, apart from you, to who's hit some crazy shit and obviously got trick of the year, which we'll be covering just in a couple of minutes, people. So just, just keep your, keep your hair on.

I don't think anyone else is really close enough. Yeah. I was just going to mention TJ Rogers had a pretty good year. He parried a couple of parts.

Yeah. And, and even on that vacation tour mate, which normally you don't get blessed with the greatest of games. You get vibes, you get vibes and it's really cool seeing vibes, you know, when Evan Smith's killing it, you know, I love him. Evan Smith, if you get, if you watch a tour video with Evan Smith and you're going to be rewarded.

But yeah, TJ Rogers had a great year. Really, really good year. Yeah. I'll just go into the, let's go, go into the full contenders.

But I'll skip ones that, you know, you've got Simon Banerat again. I just, you know, great skater, but yeah, yeah. Yeah. Karen's hit some really cool clips.

We've seen a lot of really, really super pro clips from him, but his, his, for him, if he wants to get scared, he probably could get it. He just needs to turn up and do it. He's like the second coming up Alex Olsen, you know, he's not, he can do all the tricks. He just, is he going to, is he going to throw him?

Yeah, that's it. You told it. Yeah, you told, you told, you told, you told, John D'Lo's always up there these days because he's, you know, he's, wait, he just kills it. Everybody fights out there.

Great. See you. Dylan J is a great skater mate, really, really good skater. And I think, you know, it is one for you here at first.

I'm sure someone else already said it. Give him five years and see if he has, if he has one skater here. A couple years. I would say at the moment, like I love, he did, you know, he's done some of those tricks kind of pan homage to Mike Mo and other skaters like that, which I think is really cool.

But sometimes, I think it takes away from his originality. But he is such a clean skater. He can put his flair on it as well, which is what everyone likes to see. So if he keeps going the way he's going, mate, he can really, really round himself off and be a good, good stylish skater.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We had the short, the Sean Jordan in there as well.

And he's always laying down some fucking tech. Yeah. And it was good to see that he got his move to April, you know, which is, I think it's a good home for him because, you know, the way you're kind of seeing April now, and it always, it was set up to be like this, like a sister company to primitive. Yeah.

It's where it's still a big boy player. But you know, these are the kind of the, not necessarily the ones that want to be in the style, you know, the spot like, you know, so great home for him because he's a high caliber skater, Taylor Kirby, Tom Knox, we spoken about, which I thought, I thought Tom, you know, obviously you're going to put him in a contender tonight, but we spoke about before. It's not the same. I really respect how he skates because I love how he's going to use the board, operate, get up, he's a straight skater skater skater, you know, in terms of attainable, you can almost imagine being able to do some of the shit.

You wouldn't have to have a quick, quick on a feet, you'd never be able to do it, but you could imagine it. Yeah, exactly. You try and skate the spots he's skating, whereas take me to any of those spots that are miles of hitting, I won't be able to get only down any of it. Yeah.

You know, maybe, you know, maybe you would, but you get, you're catching much drift. Yeah, exactly. And it's almost on the same level as having like Ryan Shekler there, but different, obviously Ryan Shekler, he's probably passed the point of where he could have been skater of the year and absolutely destroyed it. But it doesn't take anything away from how good that guy is on a board because of how much experience he's having it, etc.

Like he could be quite high up, you know, he deserves a spot on the, on there just from that huge party release. Now, if you drop like three or four of those parts, he's going to be on the top five maybe or close to it. Yeah, you're right. Let's just touch on Shekler as well, mate, for a second.

I remember growing up and people hate Shekler a lot. Yeah, like really, really hate him. I never did. No, I was a big fan.

Because, and there's a few reasons. Obviously you had one of the greatest kick clips of all time, which we, we always talk about, you know, super-heated skate, the zero could escape for anyone. But obviously, you know, he was a bit too clean, clean cut for Jamie. Yeah.

And also he's got a, he's on a plan people. So whatever, he's on a legacy team. He doesn't need to worry about it. And he's always been wearing at these, right?

So anyone who's trying to shit on, obviously he's got a dreadful hat on, but that's his money. That's how he's paying his way. But he's wearing at these on his feet. So any of these fuckers that are trying to give Shekler, he, he is wearing a skater-operated shoe on his feet and he's been wearing his entire career.

So just let us settle all these, all these people that would have jumped ship, you know, and taken the night money, taking out of that money. He has been staying there, skating through and, and putting some good shoes out as well by the way. So, but I remember all the heat they used to get, you know, like, you know, it's saying he did his hair and all that sort of stuff. It's like, you do whatever the fuck he wants.

Jesus Christ, like you're hitting him, hitting him, being a, what, doing a fresh t-shirt. And I think a lot of it is a lot of it at the time, I think it was jealousy of how successful the young skater was, kind of, kind of how an age you got at, you know, as soon as he, as he left the dreads and kind of got into that slop, a older teenager version, you get so judged as a skateboarder and when you're a young, young famous or, you know, young in the spotlight, it's very hard to act right in those situations, when you probably don't want to act right anyway. And a lot of people are going to take these things as cockiness, this, that, and the other when they're just a fucking kid with an immense skill where you got, you know, imagine if that was yourself or someone else, you know, it's a different story when you think of it in that sort of way. And I think a lot of it is jealousy because of how well someone's done and how much they would want to be in a situation like that, like it's happened with Nigel or had, had happened with Nigel as well.

And when someone continuous, like he was pre-niger, he was, instead of, you know, the SLS, he was the ex-games kid. He won almost every single one of them. And a lot of people, well, you know, he hasn't got a good style, you know, because he's small in all this. Well, that doesn't matter.

He was winning because of what he was doing skateboarding, same with Nigel. And it really goes the distance. It's, you can't knock someone, he's been winning, like winning competitions like that. And obviously these days, there's almost like a split between the whole Olympics, you know, skating in the Olympics, sport are, I think people are thinking about it too much.

He goes, fuck, if it is a competition, then you can go and compete. If it isn't a competition, hit the streets, hit a curb, sit in a curb, you know, have a breakaway, have a smokeaway, you can, you can, you can define it, personally, define it, however you need to define it at any given time, right? Because if you're okay with any sort of contest, then okay, so you've accepted that there is a competition element in skateboarding. So if you've accepted that, then obviously it can fit into a sporting kind of realm.

Don't worry about it. It's all right. Don't worry about it. It's okay.

It's fine. You can let it be in an Olympics. No, if you were to ask me, is it's, is it, I think we've spoke about this many times on the format, but I would just, it's a sporting endeavor, you know, I wouldn't necessarily massively bracket as a sport, but it's fucking close enough, right? Yeah, exactly.

You know, you've got to be an athlete to perform this sort of shit. Yeah, Miles Silver's, he isn't super athletic. He wasn't skating. He could have been, you know, he could be a basketball player, you know, obviously, you could tell he loves his basketball, but he could have been, he could have been something that, you know, like a lot of skateboarders, they didn't skate or fucking gymnastics or, you know, some sort of full-body sport with an element of finesse.

Yeah, yeah. So these people, like they're normally triple frets, you know, they're not, it's probably good on like a motorbike or, you know, there's probably something else he's good at, like a lot of skateboarders, you know, they're not just masters of one thing normally. Yeah. Oh, yeah, they just, they can just work things out.

So that's not a great person. Let's, let's move on to the tricky area real quick, mate. Yep. We'll go head straight into the winner and then we can have a look at some of the other contenders.

Winning trick, you two, Horogami, and it is the Nolle backside 270 heel board slide down probably like a maybe a seven or an eight, similar to that. Yep. The, the, the, the stair set. Off-road over again, mate.

Do you think that's, do you think it's worthy of the, of the accolade? I think, I do. Yeah. It's, it's one of those tricks that is like a video game trick.

Yeah, exactly. It's absolutely ridiculous. Because if you're throwing like, you know, you're throwing that trick, mate, and then hoping you're, you've caught your heel flip. Yep.

Right. And if you'd haven't, guess what? You are absolutely splitting yourself in two and then probably landing your face at the end as well. So you're going to get double whammy.
