畫說漢字/圖解《說文解字》/1000個漢字的故事/東漢許慎原著般（bān）“般”原为“盘”的本字。甲骨卜辞中的“盘庚”也写作“般庚”。看字形，就像一只手拿着勺子从盘子里取食。后来，“盘”字形逐渐讹变为“舟”旁，就无法从字形看出本义了。同时，在古文中，它还是“搬”的通假字，意思是搬运；有时也作为“斑”的通假字，意思是斑点。现在该字一般意义为“样、种、类”，如“百般刁难”。（勺子从盘子中“搬”出了千般万种美味食物。）
